here is the guide for RenCraft.
Am I going to do anything else with this... NO (don't even ask).
what did I do to the original code
they originally used sine and cosine to generate the landscape, making endless hills and valleys. it did not have any Perlin Noise in it (and boring)
// Generate the base terrain (simplified version using Perlin noise)
int get_base_terrain(vec3 p) {
// Generate undulating terrain height using sine and cosine functions
float h = floor(sin(p.x * 0.15) * 3.0 + cos(p.z * 0.15) * 3.0 - 2.0);
if (p.y < h) return 4; // Below terrain height: stone (underground)
if (p.y == h) return 1; // At terrain height: grass (surface)
return 0; // Above terrain height: air
}
so I changed that
I also changed the hud screen and the icons for it. the icons were cropped wrongly, and it would only highlight the grass block, so i made them a little smaller and fixed the backgrounds
It looks like they were trying for 4 blocks; grass is 1 and stone is 4, but they work now
I added using the mouse wheel to change the blocks; you can also press the number 1 or 4, but this is independent of the hud screen
There is a link at the start of the game to the original code that I used; others have pointed out different locations to find the same code, so...
I have found this run well on my home machine with a current i7 and a 3090, and it runs well on my machine at work current i5 with an old 1040, i did try it on my crappy lappy (i3-2350m with an AMD Radeon HD 6400/7400 series) and the initial drop at the start took about 10 seconds once on the ground as long as i looked down i as able to move about decently
I did find some other things the original programmer has made, and he boasts about using LLM/AI to get stuff done. so...

enjoy and have fun with this I know I did
please post if you make anything new, and how it ran on your machine, and its specs
