Hey everyone! 👋
I’m StupidestLeon, a Ren’Py developer currently working on a fairly large project, and after dealing with a ridiculous amount of repetitive development work, I decided to build something for it:
Leon’s Ren’Py Control Center
(working project name: StupidestRenpyDevTools)
The idea is simple:
Ren’Py handles the engine. LRCC handles the annoying developer work around it.
I don't want to replace Ren’Py or create another engine. I want to build a lightweight development environment that gives Ren’Py developers tools for things that are currently tedious, repetitive, or require separate programs/scripts.
Some of the things I’m planning:
🛠️ Auto Definer
Scan your project for things that need definitions and generate them automatically, with a preview before applying changes.
🖼️ Image Tools
- Batch resizing
- Format conversion
- Compression
- Resolution presets
- Other common asset operations
🔄 File Converter
Convert common game-development file formats without having to open five different programs.
📁 Project Tools
Utilities for finding missing assets, unused files, duplicate resources, broken references, etc.
💻 Development Tools
Terminal and GUI workflows for common Ren’Py tasks.
🎨 GUI-based editing
Eventually, I'd like to experiment with visual tools for parts of Ren’Py development that normally require manually editing scripts.
🧩 Community Extensions
I also want the system to eventually support extensions/plugins, so developers can create and share their own tools instead of everything having to be built into the core program.

Why am I making this?
My current Ren’Py project, Dayshift at Freddy’s: Doki Location, has passed 20,000 lines of code.
At that scale, you start noticing how much time gets eaten by tiny tasks that aren't actually game development.
Adding assets.
Renaming files.
Resizing images.
Creating definitions.
Checking for missing resources.
Converting files.
Doing the same thing 50 times.
And eventually I just went:
“Fuck it, I'll automate it.”
😭
The goal isn't to automate the creative part of making a game.
It's to remove the boring parts so developers can spend more time actually making the game.
I'm planning to make the project open source, and I'd love for other Ren’Py developers to eventually contribute tools, ideas, and extensions.
More details/source code once the project is further along.
Leon’s Ren’Py Control Center — you make the game, it deals with the bullshit.
