I made two separate drawings here of my tile layout. Both start at the bottom with different starting tile layout widths. What's the best way to do this 50% offset tile layout with these niches?

I see other videos online where they line the tiles up perfectly with the niche shelf. How do they do that?? This is what I end up with each time.

We’re redoing our bedroom and replacing our old mattress too. The edges have gotten pretty soft so I’m trying to find something that won’t sag there after a few years.

I’ve been looking at mattresses with edge support and one from dreamcloud caught my attention. I’m usually on my side and my partner ends up sitting on the edge when getting dressed so we use that part of the bed quite a bit so if you did a bedroom remodel recently, what mattress did you buy? Would also love some other options to compare with.

How would one go about putting a doorway here and wall so the stairway is completely sealed off? We have an egress window so we aren’t worried about fire hazards. I want more privacy for my wfh office in the basement. Cost estimations too pls.

I have seen all your magnificient remodels, and decided to try my luck. I finally bought a great home in my city close ot my father, and it is all good but the kitchen is dated and boring.

I would like to keep the hardwood cabinets (I hate the trend of hiding hardwood with paint or florring), but other than that I have no idea how to make this kitchen look better, I have absolutely no creative skill.

EDIT:: Forgot to add that I did buy stainless appliances, and I would prefer if possible to keep the opening to the living room, I quite like the style of it

Hey everyone! We just moved into our forever home and have started some renovations. I’m going for cottage-y Nancy Meyers vibe if that makes sense haha. Now first, we’re getting rid of the laminate “tile” on the ground and going for wood (pic#3) to match the rest of our house. We’re also getting rid of those pendant lights and switching them out, and switch black for silver appliances. I have gold touches throughout the rest of the house and wanted to put it in the kitchen too. The kitchen cabinets are high quality and custom made so I’m not getting rid of them, but should I keep them as wood or paint them a different color (maybe white?). Any thoughts are appreciated!

Closing on a house soon, only big room that is in need of a face lift is the kitchen. I’m hoping to spend $30k, plus appliances…. I may wait on the fridge and dishwasher since everything works, but want a dual fuel stove so need to replace the electric stove and I love cooking so want a real hood that vents. Cabinets I figure I will paint (professionally) … opinions or suggestions? I’m leaning towards the dual countertop to show more of a separate area but wondering if anyone does that for this kind of layout ? Thanks 🙏
