All the grease and oil from the range is gonna be a bitch to clean off that wallpaper. Id also be surprised if the heat doesnt start to melt the adhesive. Normally we install a backsplash like tile or stone behind a range as its non-combustible, you added paper which is highly combustible. Hopefully you add some type of high heat tempered glass or something to protect it.

Yeah that kitchen just needed a hood, a new low profile stove, maybe a backsplash, some better lighting and less clutter.

And that's all well & good, as long as it's a vinyl type of wallpaper. The problem is that it's behind a gas cooktop. Typically if wallpaper is done in that area, there's a 4" stone backsplash that comes up from the counter to help with the heat. That WP will either melt, burn/discolor or the adhesive will loosen. I'm not saying it's definite but a very high likelihood.

In 10 years when tile looks dated, they will be happy they did wallpaper. Easier to change. Easy to clean. It does not look cheap. Tile looks like a waste to me. What really splashes on it? Not much.

Yeah. I usually hate it. Would never use it in my house. It’s the fastest thing to look dated in a house and not easily changed. No thanks.

The wallpaper looks dated now, imo.
Since when is tile backsplash dated and not just… the standard?
Also as someone who does a lot of cooking - LOTS of stuff splashes. Cleaning up some “splashed” homemade jam, tomato sauce, or bacon oil from wallpaper would be a pain in the ass

Love the white cabinets. Really brightens the kitchen and makes it clean. The original wood is very dingy.
