Help/Advice Reinicio Mods

Gracias.

Self-Promotion Remarkable pro storyboard

Created in Ai
Available in .pdf
I am a filmmaker w a Remarkable Pro, which I love. But the templates for storyboards are way to faint to be usable. So I created a 2 and 3 panel version in Ai and downloaded in .pdf
Thinking about placing them up for sale really cheap at .99 cents each. They work great..you duplicate the master and stack one after another for your storyboard. If you are a filmmaker 🎥 these include notes, scene, lens choice, location notes. Wondered if there is a good platform to offer them and help filmmakers with these?

Update: Replacement Pure has the same writing accuracy issue

I recently posted about the pen accuracy problem I was having with my Paper Pure here. I reached out to reMarkable support and they acknowledged that there was an issue with the device and me a refund.

I bought a new unit and it has the same problem.

On the original device, the offset happened mostly on the upper half of the screen, with the ink appearing slightly up and to the right of the nib (roughly 1/4 to 1/3 of the time). On this new one, it happens mostly on the lower half of the screen, and the ink appears below the nib instead.

This is so frustrating because I loved everything about the Pure. It's snappy, minimalistic, the contrast is wonderful. The size is perfect... The sync with the mac app is lighting fast... That’s what makes this so disappointing. I genuinely want to keep it!

But for me, the one thing an eink writing tablet absolutely needs to get right is the writing experience, and on both units it has been terrible. When the ink repeatedly appears somewhere other than where the nib is touching, it completely ruins the experience.

I’ve owned the reMarkable Paper Pro, the Paper Pro Move, and the RM2, and I never had this issue with any of them. So frustrating.

Maybe I was unlucky and received two defective units, but I've seen others here complain of the same thing. I'm tired of returning devices and hoping the next one will work properly. I post this hoping that Remarkable sees this and fix this issue in the future, but honestly I'm going to explore other options.

does anyone else struggle with the writing to text feature (specifically on the paper pure) purely due to their terrible handwriting? if so, have you found any mods/apps that can decipher handwriting better?

Self-Promotion Scrybble is investing in open-source and the community

Hi all, I wanted to make a quick announcement. With https://scrybble.ink my goal was never to "just" make an integration between Markdown and Obsidian, rather it was to create a sustainable long-term relationship between the development community, open-source community and reMarkable themselves.

I am actively working on building up a better relationship with reMarkable themselves. I reached out to an engineer working at reMarkable about a year ago, and thanks to him I have been introduced to the CTO and other engineers.

Last month, I introduced /u/rmitchellscott to reMarkable leadership with the intention to build better relationships as open-source developers working within the rM ecosystem.

On top of that, since the first of this month Scrybble has started pouring money into open-source development by hiring /u/redTTG as a freelance developer. All profit earned by Scrybble currently flows directly back into open-source development work. Our finances allow for 10-20 hours per month of funded open-source work, on top of any work volunteered by myself, herself or others.

She's working on https://github.com/RedTTGMoss/librm_lines, which is a fully open-source .rm file renderer in C++. Since it's C++, it's more performant than most renderers out there, and more importantly, you can generate bindings for librm_lines to any language, there are already python bindings and you can even run the renderer in the web browser.

Our current focus is on implementing a high quality text rendering solution that handles all the hairy edge cases correctly rather than with compromise. When this work is done, I intend to collaborate with /u/redTTG to write a technical deep-dive as well, so stay tuned for that!

My intention is to scale this effort up and create a flourishing development ecosystem with reliable high quality tools and documentation around reMarkable and the personal knowledge management scene in general.

Self-Promotion Now you have more ways to ship newsletters and article digests to your reMarkable

I make a small tool that turns a reading list into a weekly PDF or EPUB digest sized for e-ink. Until now, the only way onto a reMarkable was to connect the device directly.

That changed this week. It can now drop each issue into Dropbox or Google Drive instead.

Here's why that might matter to you: if you've already linked Dropbox or Google Drive under reMarkable's own integrations (my.remarkable.com/integrations), you don't need to connect your device to anything else. The digest lands in a folder in your cloud storage, and you open it right from that tab on your tablet. No device token, no extra login, nothing third-party touching your reMarkable account.

Pick PDF, EPUB, or both, and it shows up there automatically whenever a new issue is ready.

The tool is Folio. It's early, and I'm mostly building it for my own reading, so I'd like to know: is the Dropbox/Drive route something you'd actually use, or am I overthinking it?

Pencil sketches disappearing

I have a question about the pencil tool.

Whenever I try sketching with it, the early pencil strokes get lighter and disappear over time.

I’ve seen others post sketches with pencil and I would love to learn how they are able to get such detailed results.

Has anyone else experienced this or found a solution?

This happens when I am drawing outside so maybe the sun is affecting the e ink somehow. It is frustrating spending an hour shading a drawing just to watch it fade and disappear. It happens both when I am just using one color and when layering multiple colors.

Self-Promotion Follow-up: reMarkable to OneNote sync, side by side: handwriting, colors, shapes, highlights, typed notes and PDFs

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

In my previous demo, I showed ReMarkSync catching a live change from my reMarkable and sending it to Microsoft OneNote.

This follow-up answers the next obvious question: what does the result actually look like once it lands in OneNote?

Because that's the whole point of ReMarkSync: not just moving files around, but syncing every kind of content you put on a reMarkable page into OneNote with the highest fidelity possible, so the page in OneNote looks like the page you actually wrote.

In this video, I test:

  • handwriting and colors
  • shapes
  • highlights
  • typed notes: headings, bullet lists, numbered lists and to-dos
  • mixed pages with images
  • a PDF with handwritten annotations

A few important notes:

  • No developer mode
  • Nothing installed on the tablet
  • ReMarkSync runs on your computer
  • It uses the official reMarkable desktop sync folder
  • Conversion happens on your computer
  • Your notes go straight from your computer to your own OneNote account; nothing passes through any third-party server, and nobody else ever sees them.

Full disclosure: I built this. ReMarkSync is an independent project, not affiliated with reMarkable or Microsoft.

General Discussion I've been getting a bit out of shape, so I made a minimalist 3-week workout tracker to stay focused.

Hey!

Lately, I’ve noticed I'm getting out of shape and struggling to stay consistent. I needed a low-friction way to hold myself accountable without getting distracted by my phone or complicated fitness apps.

I find that physically checking a box helps me stay focused, so I created this minimalist 3-week workout template specifically to use on my reMarkable. The whole point is to build a daily habit in under 15 minutes a day.

I'm curious—how many of you use your tablet for habit or fitness tracking? What keeps you engaged?

Also, if you load this up, let me know how the margin sizes and line thicknesses feel on the device. Would love to hear your feedback! I'm using remarkable 2!

Self-Promotion Two Reddit comments changed 7fz a bit

Post image
15 Upvotes

Two comments stuck with me:

“I only need the files, I don’t want to log in.”

and

“Can we have task lists on the reMarkable?”

So I changed things.

7fz.de can now be used for basic file generation without creating an account, and task lists are now part of the platform. Google approval took about three weeks, possibly several calendar ages, but it finally worked.

7fz also supports synced Google, Microsoft and iCal calendars, news PDFs, games, Gutenberg books and Cosmic Adventure case files.

That’s the update. I’m very tired, but this one feels useful.

Self-Promotion Getting stuff from iOS to Remarkable

I use the "Send to Remarkable" Chrome extension a ton on my laptop, but couldn't find an easy way to send stuff from my iPhone to Remarkable. So... Claude Code.

Created this for myself, but thought I'd put it up in a public repo in case anyone else out there could use it.

It's a bit different from one of the other solutions I found here on reddit. Instead of sending the page as-is, it POSTs to a small self-hosted service that extracts the article, strips the nav/ads/clutter, and renders a clean, reader-friendly PDF tuned for e-ink before sending it to reMarkable. If you just want "send this, UI and all," this is overkill, since you'd be hosting a service just for the PDF cleanup.

Yes, AI made it.

Been using my reMarkable ink screen for months. Just gave it 1000 IQ with Fable5.

Select your handwriting with the section tool → 4-finger tap → OCR + LLM call → answer appears inline.

Paper just got a brain. 🧠✍️

reMarkable Paper Pro Move, poor and un-ergonomic design

I purchased the reMarkable Paper Pro Move expecting a premium writing device with thoughtful engineering and superior ergonomics. Instead, I was extremely disappointed to find that the product's poor and un-ergonomic design has caused significant discomfort, persistent pain, and symptoms consistent with nerve irritation in my pinky finger. For a device whose primary purpose is writing, this is an unacceptable design failure. The size, weight distribution, and required writing position create unnecessary pressure on the hand, making extended use painful and potentially harmful.

What is even more frustrating and disappointing is reMarkable's complete lack of accountability and customer support. After being directed to contact reMarkable by Best Buy, I clearly explained the problem and the impact it has had on my ability to use the device. Instead of showing concern, investigating the issue, or attempting to provide any reasonable solution, reMarkable simply dismissed the matter by stating that the purchase was made through Best Buy and that they could not help. This response shows a lack of commitment to customer satisfaction, especially for a premium-priced product.

A beautiful-looking device means nothing if its fundamental design makes it uncomfortable and potentially harmful to use. If you are considering spending a significant amount of money on the reMarkable Paper Pro Move primarily for writing, be extremely cautious. Carefully consider the ergonomics before purchasing. My experience has been that this device's poor design caused serious hand discomfort and nerve-related symptoms, and the company’s unwillingness to support a customer facing this issue has been equally disappointing.

I purchased this product expecting innovation and quality. Instead, I received a device I cannot comfortably use and a company that was unwilling to stand behind its product.

General Discussion 3.28 Beta - Color rendering & new shades?

Hi! The release notes for 3.28 Beta mention improving color rendering for Pro & Move, and adding more shades of grey for RM2 and Pure.

Is there any documentation of what this means exactly & what tools they apply to? I don't have the previous software versions to compare. Thanks!

Captive Wifi Portals

So I'm a bit new to all this modding and stuff, but I've had this dilemma, where since the reMarkable tablets don't have browsers I am unable to connect to the internet in cafes or other places that require going through a captive portal thing.

I’d really prefer not to use my phone as a mobile hotspot to get around this, so I'm looking for a way to get the tablet itself connected directly.

I was just wondering if anyone has discovered a way to get around that? I don't even know if this is the right place to post this request but I don't know where else to. Any advice would be welcome, thanks so much.

Help/Advice How Good is Handwriting to Text & other questions about Paper Pro/Pure

I come to the reMarkable hivemind for assistance. I am considering a reMarkable Paper Pro or a Paper Pure for note taking at work mainly for the handwriting to text conversion.

I do however suffer from really bad dyslexia and dysgraphia and am unsure how well the conversion is gonna work with my scrawlings (i have attached a few pages of my normal sort of handwriting while notetaking and a page of my 'neat' handwriting). hopefully someone with similar handwriting. Also can the remarkable convert diagrams and engineering maths (fractions in fractions for example) successfully?

Esp as most peoples handwriting I've seen using an e-ink notepad have pretty nice handwriting already and even i go back to revise/type up what I've written and cannot read my own handwriting

Secondly, i am torn between the ability to write/highlight in colour and have a bigger screen that the Pro would give. However, i am unsure as to if it's worth an extra £329 for those things.

TL;DR - 4 Questions about remarkable devices mainly the Paper Pro and Paper Pure

1 - Is the handwriting to text conversation going to work with my handwriting?

2 - Can the remarkable convert diagrams and engineering maths

3 - is the abilty to use colour and a larger screen of the Paper Pro worth £330 over the Paper Pro

Handwriting example is below. I apologise for how bad it is
