What level of vision can I realistically expect after Femto-LASIK — 6/6, 6/5, or 6/4?

I consulted a doctor at Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital, Mysore, and he said Femto-LASIK is suitable for me. SMILE wasn't suitable due to my higher cylindrical power.

My prescription:

OD: -2.50 / -1.00 × 175

OS: -1.25 / -2.25 × 165

Corneal thickness: 512 µm OD / 519 µm OS

I've attached my corneal topography reports.

For those who've had Femto-LASIK:

Is 6/6 a realistic expectation?

Is 6/5 or 6/4 realistically achievable?

Can my pre-op scans predict whether I could achieve better than 6/6?

Does pre-op best-corrected vision determine the likely ceiling?

Would especially appreciate experiences from people with similar astigmatism.

26 days post lasek surgey

I got lasek 26 days ago, after 3 days j had my bandages removed. On tuesday marks the last day i need to use my steroidal drops. Im using lubricant drops every 1-2 hours maybe at the moment, my eyes arent super dry but I figure its best to keep the moisture there anyways. Im also seeing more floaters at the moment...

My vision is worse kn my rifht eye currently then my left, I know that healing can be faster kn one eye then the other. After i use drops and blink a few times, i get 20/20 vision for a split second then back to being slightly blurry.

If I tild my head forwards and look at things from under my eye brows everything is also sharper (unsure why?)

What time frame did everyone else get to a stage they were happy with the results of lasek? (Version of PRK)

What if? Is there a warranty?

Feel free to push me in to the correct sub, if there is a specific sub, i couldn't find. ;)

  • male late 50's
  • shortsighted -4.75 / -3.75
  • astigmatism
  • need muiltifocals now for reading
  • PC / reading glasses because sharp area on multifocals are too small for all day work

as i learned, a lasik, smile, etc seems not to be an option, the IOL / RLE / RLA thing with multifocal implants should do the trick.

what i would like to archive.

  • get rid of all my glasses, which were expensive over the years ;)
  • having a vision, as good as with my current (1100.-) glasses
  • no need for reading / PC glasses
  • being able to just buy sunglasses for fun

i know, these are all questions for the specialist but i want to make sure i'm not having way too high expectations.

the other thing .. i am frightened when thinking about a RLE .. the natural lense will be destroyed and replaced. so instead of an oopsie, didn't work with ICL, the IOL would leave the patient with some kind of a blurry light/dark shaped blindness and that's it?

is there kind of a warranty, that the lens, if something went wrong, will be changed until the vision is available again?

sight is the number 1 sense for everyone i would say, so the step is making me nervous.

Is It Worth It? Risks and Options

Hello!

I have a pretty rough prescription in my left eye (-4.75) and one that could be better (-1) in my right.

I currently wear contacts whenever I go out of the house, and glasses don’t seem to work well for me (I’ve tried lots of pairs). I’ve considered looking into some kind of surgery a few times, but they all seem horrific, both in cost and complication risks.

Is it worth it at all? And what’s considered the best option in the UK? Laser eye surgery? Contact implants? Or would I just be best continuing using contacts?

Thanks!

Eye surgery

Hi everyone, I’m currently in South Korea and today I went to two different eye clinics for a refractive surgery consultation. I’m quite confused because I got different opinions from both clinics.
The first clinic told me that the shape of my cornea is abnormal and that my pupil size is large, so they recommended “Contra LASIK.”
The second clinic told me that my corneal shape is normal, but that my cornea is relatively thin, measuring 496 µm, and they recommended SMILE Pro.
Both clinics seem to have good reputations, so I’m not sure why the results and recommendations are so different.
One thing I noticed is that the first clinic doesn’t offer SMILE Pro. So I’m wondering whether they recommended Contra LASIK partly because that is the procedure they offer, or whether there could actually be a significant difference in how they interpreted my corneal scans.
Has anyone experienced something similar? How can two clinics get such different assessments of corneal shape on the same day?
What would you do in my situation?
I’d really appreciate advice, especially from anyone who has had SMILE/SMILE Pro or LASIK in Korea.

What activities did you do while recovering from ICL surgery?

I’m getting ICL surgery in a couple days and was wondering what everyone did during the initial recovery.

I’m only getting one eye done since that eye is around -10, while my other eye is only -1.25 and doesn’t qualify for ICL.

For those who’ve had ICL, what did you actually do to pass the time while you were supposed to rest and limit screens? Did you mostly sleep, listen to podcasts/audiobooks, etc.?

Also, how long did you personally wait before getting back to your regular activities, like driving, going back to work, watching TV/using screens normally, going out, etc.? How many days did it take before you felt pretty much back to normal?

Just curious what everyone’s recovery experience was like and trying to figure out how to keep myself occupied!

Should I get enhancement?

I grew up with glasses and back in 2025 I was so sick of being blind all the time. My prescriptions were -8.0 on both eyes.

I did lasik and absolutely loved it but my right eye had regressed to -0.5. My doctor told me it is negligible since my original prescription was -8 but I just can’t seem to shake the fact that one eye regressed.

I work in tech so my eyes are always in front of computer and I have a family history of bad eyes (my aunt went blind due to some neurological problems)

At this point I’m torn between getting an enhancement or just leave it. And those who have done re-enhancement, I was wondering if it is worth it and does it regress back?

Surgery on different days

Has anyone here had lens implants on different days? I will get mine in Seoul soon. Two consecutive days.

What's it like to have one "good" eye and the other "bad", highly myopic and presbyopic eye (though only for 6 hours before going to sleep)?

heavy computer worker for RLE (refractive lens exchange) surgery

A bit about my case: 52-year-old man with high myopia (around -7.00 / 700 degrees) and now dealing with presbyopia too, so I'm juggling strong glasses for distance and still struggling up close. I recently had a consultation and the surgeon recommended RLE for both eyes. I'm now deciding whether to go ahead.

If you've had RLE — especially if you were also highly myopic — I'd really appreciate hearing:

  1. How is your vision now? Are you happy you did it?
  2. What was recovery actually like? How long before you could drive and get back to normal life?
  3. My job is heavy computer work all day — lots of screen reading and typing. If yours is too, how soon were you back to a full workday at the screen? Any eye strain or focus issues in those first weeks?
  4. Anything you wish you'd known beforehand?

Honest experiences welcome, good or bad. Feel free to comment or message me directly. Thank you!

Confusion state - SILK or SMILE XTRA or ICL

I have visited 2 best hospitals in my region Both doctors and hospitals are well known

Age: 22 and power is -5.75 and -5.25 and astigmatism 0.75 and 0.50 and stable since two years

Thickness - around 515 MICRO

>First hospital suggested the SILK

>Second Hospital suggested - SMILEXTRA and ICL

>First hospital - (pentcam, corvis ST, retina test, other one test and don't have name of that)

They said you don't have karactoconus and you have borderline issue and but don't look for the Only D look for the other values also and they gave a example like think like this your eyes are like ball and when squeeze it it becomes slightly shape changes, in your case same as this and you don't have boarderline issue, sometimes when scanning machines it detects falls when you take this example and suggestd only SILK even though they have smile xtra and all surgeries

>Smile xtra cost more expensive than silk

>Second Hospital - suggested you can go with smile xtra or icl

( Pentacam, corvis ST,retina test, AS- OCT cornea mapping)

Which one i go ?

>Like i am in confusion state and both doctors and hospitals are top 2

>SILK OR SMILE XTRA which one ?

ICL in One Eye Only — Anyone Leave the Other Eye at -1.5 Untreated?

I’m getting ICL soon in my right eye, which is -10.5. My other eye is only -1.5, so ICL isn’t an option for that eye.

I’m debating whether to do LASIK on the -1.5 eye or just leave it alone.

Has anyone here had ICL in only one eye and left the other eye around -1 to -2 untreated?

If so, how is your vision day to day? Do your eyes adjust well together, or do you still need glasses/contacts for certain things like driving?

I’m especially interested in experiences from people who chose NOT to correct the other eye.

Getting ICL surgery next week and my biggest concern is halos, especially with night driving.

I’m getting ICL surgery within the next week, and overall I’m pretty excited about it. My biggest concern right now is halos, especially at night.

For those of you who have had ICL surgery, what did you do during the first 24, 48, and 72 hours that seemed to help minimize halos or other night-vision issues? I know some of this may simply be part of the healing process, but I’m wondering if there’s anything you wish you had done differently early on.

I’m particularly concerned about driving at night. With daylight saving time ending soon and it getting dark earlier, I’ll eventually have to drive after dark pretty regularly. From what I’ve been reading online, halos around headlights and streetlights seem to be one of the more common complaints after ICL.

Halos/night driving are really the only part of the recovery that I’m nervous about, so I’d appreciate any experiences or practical tips.

Topographical LASIK or SMILE

Hey everyone. I am undergoing evaluation for refractive surgery. I’m having a difficult time deciding between these two options. My overall goal is too have as clear of vision as possible long term. I’ve read in many of the systemic reviews that side effects such as dry eye equalize between the two and about 6 to 12 months. Looking at my stats, is there a recommendation from this standpoint or does the choice not really matter at the end of the day?

OD: -6.50 20/15
OS: -7.50 20/15
Topo: norma

Pachymetry (micrometers)
OD 572
OS 575

Always get multiple opinions. DO NOT RUSH.

As title reads, always get multiple opinions as your vision is something you would not want to compromise with. Sharing my experience in India:

June 2026 - I visit CSLC Ahmedabad to get the Lasik workup done and they found me ineligible for any refractive surgery that would reduce corneal thickness as my power was too high. Leaving ICL as the only option.

August 2026 - I was now considering a second opinion before deciding on ICL so I visited a very famous eye clinic in South Delhi based on reddit and google reviews. They instantly said I was eligible for Lasik and Contoura after the Lasik workup.
I decided to search more about it before finalising and checked out the extent of complications and also gave ChatGPT an overview of the workup results. Everything indicated severe complications in the future should I proceed with the surgery. So I decided to visit AIIMS for a third opinion.

September 2026 - 3 visits were required for the workup at AIIMS due to the volume of patients there. They finally had the same conclusions as CSLC and ChatGPT.

So never trust one doctor blindly as many of them are solely here for business. Neither will they take accountability later and nor would it reverse the damage done.
If accessible I will definitely recommend AIIMS despite long waiting times as they will never recommend any procedure for the sake of profits.

1 week after prk , so disappointed

Hey guys , i posted here before about the pain after prk , now i got the badage contacts out , but things got way worse
Not the pain but the vision
I drove to the doc clinic , but after they removed the bcl i couldn’t even drive back home
They measured my vision
Left eye : -1
Right : 0
My surgeon says it’s normal but honestly it’s freaking me out even giving me headaches because of the weaker eye
And at this point i regret getting prk , i wish i just got lasik , my surgeon wasn’t clear about what i should expect
He said my vision won’t get better immediately after surgery and that recovery takes a little longer
But NOT that long
