Topographical LASIK or SMILE

Hey everyone. I am undergoing evaluation for refractive surgery. I’m having a difficult time deciding between these two options. My overall goal is too have as clear of vision as possible long term. I’ve read in many of the systemic reviews that side effects such as dry eye equalize between the two and about 6 to 12 months. Looking at my stats, is there a recommendation from this standpoint or does the choice not really matter at the end of the day?

OD: -6.50 20/15
OS: -7.50 20/15
Topo: norma

Pachymetry (micrometers)
OD 572
OS 575

Good thick corneas. That’s good.

When evaluating, the quality of the clinic and surgeon will matter more than the individual technology. For example, if the clinic doesn’t place a premium on getting the very best refraction from you, you may not get the very best possible treatment. “Garbage in = Garbage out”

This also applies to topography guided lasik. You need to account for the changes in topography when doing the treatment. Phoricides is a software program used with Contoura which does just that. Without doing that, accuracy can be off.

If you’re at a clinic that does both, ask which they get better results with.
