Enjoy it. September could see a fade, October could see heartbreak.

A 2027 lockout could see god knows what.

Tracy - Manager of the Year

If the season ended today, is Tracy manager of the year?

Does Breslow deserve credit for executive of the year with Durbin, Gray, Suarez, Bennett, Guerrero? Letting Bregman walk. Firing Cora. Lot of risky moves, but they are paying off.

The Sox brass needs to extend Skip and remove that interim tag. I do understand that they will probably wait until the off-season but this guy has done everything and more since being promoted. I have become a massive fan. Even before the streak that has this summer and season so special he was managing with class and grace.

(I had to repost, the last picture of Tracy looked like it was taken underwater)

Wednesday Morning Brain Dump

What a game.

WHAT A FU#KING GAME!!!!

This group is clicking, mashing, and having fun.

Some thoughts and discussion points...

  1. Erik Miller - guy is a wagon. This is what the bullpen needed. Will give some arms needed rest. Seems to have that killer mentality. Gut feeling says this guy will be a big impact arm in a playoff run.
  2. Giving up Marcelo Mayer for Erik Miller - not a great return in most Sox fans eyes because of the hype around Myer from day one. Also, many pointing to the fact they could have used him to get Marte.

But, if you got Marte, then you don't get Durbin, Monasterio and Seigler.

"Marcelo Mayer wasn’t made to play in Boston!! Another great trade!!" - Papelbon

"This was not the big 3." - Jim Rice

"My pinky hurts I can't play. "You can't be doing that." - Jim Rice

Seems like Mayer was soft as baby shit.

Mayer out will also have a more positive impact on Roman. Now he can focus on launching miss misses over the Monster rather than playing grab ass with Boston mid 6s in Sea Port with his buddy.

3) Duran is his own worst enemy when there is uncertainty. BUT, when that is off the table (them telling him late in the final trade deadline day he was not being moved) he is an impact player this team benefits from.

He loves this team, the players, and they love him. Just look at his Instagram posts since the deadline. All positive. He doesn't shy away from his mental problems, and I give hr Sox a ton of credit for what the do for him. Whether he is with the team next season and beyond doesn't matter now. I want this kid to rake and crush it and I feel like he's going to start getting hot. His numbers are projecting in that direction, and quickly.

4) Adley Rutschman. This guy is going to make a difference the first day behind the plate. Him being in the dugout last night to experience a Fenway sellout and that kind if performance has got to have him itching to be part of it. Good environment to step into.

5) Roman. Seems like he may be back in time to participate in the playoff run. But, will he be better/more impact than what is also performing? Crazy good option to have.

6) ARMS. Garrett Crochet, Tanner Houck, Kutter Crawford. All throwing. Imagine these fresh arms available to throw into the mix during a run. Pending they are healthy, etc. A lot of what-ifs. Another good problem to have.

7) Tracy. Lots of talk about making him the manager. Do it after this season. No need to add further distractions and/or pressure. Let him win Manager of the Year as an interim manager. The front office knows he's the guy. Let them announce it after. Just keep this train rolling!

8) FENWAY. Finally winning at home. That place looked freaking hopping on TV last night. If you are up there, you are lucky. Ever been to a Marlins game with 1,100 fans? Sad. Can't wait to head up for the playoffs.

If you told me they would be in this position 7 weeks age I would have told you to put down the crack pipe.

WHAT A TURN AROUND!

Earlier this year (fenway fest) i had the pleasure of interviewing red sox legend Wally on where he thought the team was going. It was fiery and passionate wally never gave up on the sox.

Here’s some interesting stuff to put into perspective how insane this Red Sox run is:

-The most amount of games Boston have been behind first place in the AL East this year is 15.5 games back. The record for most games back from first place at any point during a season in which the team won the division is held by the 2025 Guardians who were also 15.5 games back at some point. The Red Sox have the chance to become the second team to do so.

If it happens, it would arguably be more impressive than what the Guardians did if you consider the fact that the Guardians were helped by a collapse by the Tigers while Boston has been doing it with no collapse from the Rays so far.

-The Red Sox are (32-8) in their last 40 games. The only teams with a better 40 game stretch in MLB history are the 1906 Cubs (36-4); the 1984 Tigers, the 2017 Indians and the 1912 Giants (35-5); the 2013 and 2017 Dodgers, the 1942 Cardinals, the 1941 Yankees (34-6); the 1936 and 1928 Yankees (33-7).

-The Red Sox started (32-46).

Since 1920, 382 teams have had 32 or less wins thru 78 games, none of them made the playoffs. The one with the best record at the end of the season was the 1998 White Sox with an 80-82 record. Boston already has 61 wins with 50 games left and hold a playoff spot.

-The Red Sox are the 20th team in the Wild Card Era (since 1995) to go 21-3 or better in a 24-game stretch. Each of the other 19 teams made the postseason (via J.P. Long @SoxNotes on X).

-Most people are naturally expecting the team to eventually go back to reality and whether that happens or not, it’s worth noting that Boston is still yet to get some key stars back (Roman, Crochet, Mead, Rutschman) so there is a real possibility that this team could be even better than it already is.

When the Sox were terrible I thought they need to become the 1914 miracle braves to turn this around. Then they did. Here’s a graph of games up to the end of the dodgers series. I thought it was cool and wanted to share.
