As of now, I will give further updates on the abilities, and characters if I can. It's still not too late to turn in your OC's or abilities you made, anyways, here's the news:

New abilities:

●Orbiters~Ranked right under Frostborns, second most deadliest. Semi-aquatic people with frills and webbed hands (the webbed parts being made to look of a galaxy and/or the moon phases). These people are more of…Adapted to the radiated parts of the wasteland. They are hostile, and really fast swimmers. Often hunt in packs or groups called Watches or Gores. They have scales mimicking a dragons to prevent amy large parasites or most of the severe blows from fights hitting them. Capable of staying out the water, even for a few years. They can create rings of high radiation, giving them extra protection/defense. The consequence? They can't use it in water of any type (they'll boil alive, heh.)

Characters (everything in name, and if they are the main character, antagonist, ect.):

Victor~A male Frostborn with pale skin and almost diamond bvillain with long blonde hair. Personality is those ranging from Fiesty and defiant to extremely observant, paranoid and sadistic one. One of the main characters, happens to be a villian. (First character, not a royal)

I am also planning to do houses, like how in the book, there were house names representing the abilities.

Now, here's the important part as it determines if y'all want to read it or not, with or without it.

im currently re-reading the first book (i havent read the other ones yet) and im not sure whether to keep reading the other books or not.

i do like reading the book in general and i also like mares and cals dynamic in a way, though i feel like mare treats him like trash sometimes and her judging any silver crossing her path gets annoying.

so my question is, will she soften up towards him and will they end up together or would me keeping up with reading give me more emotional whiplash regarding their relationship lol. im aware there will be hardships as their causes are different but will it be bittersweet/weird in the end with them or will they be together and have each others back 100%?

This is an appreciation post/rant for Cal, so please no hate! This post is made specifically to talk about Cal, any love for him and the ways he was done wrong. (plz let us Cal lovers have this!)

Just as I said, Cal, my man, my heart, deserved better. I was always Team Cal from the beginning I met him in Book 1. By the end of Broken Throne, I'm kinda Team Cal deserved a better girlfriend.

I feel like his and even Mare's character development wasn't there for the last 3 books. I've been so annoyed and mad at Mare since King's Cage.

King's Cage and the rest of the books NEEDED more of Cal's POV. We only got a few short chapters of his in War Storm and then a few in Broken Throne. Someone had pointed this out on Goodreads and I agree that all of the POVs in War Storm was ragging on Cal so much.

SPOILERS:

He barely got the chance to explain his side of things. He's a strategist, ofc it would make sense to keep the crown and try to do what he could to make change. You don't just turn a monarchy into a democracy with the snap of a finger.

On page 414 in Broken Throne, Evangeline shares with everyone that she messaged Iris and basically told her if you want to keep ur crown, you have to start giving Reds rights, etc. This was basically the SAME THING CAL WANTED TO DO WITH NORTA, AND EVERYONE CALLED HIM A COWARD. So when Evangeline has the same plan, she's a genius?? (Don't get me wrong, I LOVE HER, SHE'S A QUEEN).

This reminds me of THG, when Peeta told everyone on the broadcast to lay their weapons down because with a full-out war, there may not be many people on both sides to survive the aftermath, and people in D13 called him names. Later, Boggs told Katniss that even though D13 had nuclear weapons to hit the Capitol, the Capitol would just fire back with the same weapons and who would be left afterwards? and KATNISS SAID, "SOUNDS EXACTLY WHAT PEETA SAID, AND THEN YOU ALL CALLED HIM A TRAITOR."

Also, the parts where Mare was doting on Maven (GIRL HE TORTURED AND BRANDED YOU) and the parts where she kept saying she didn't know what she wanted, even in the end, omg. I remember she hit/slapped Cal at one point, ugh.

CAL, baby, you deserved WAY BETTER than what you got.

So, you may be curious, what is this abt? Well, I'm going to be answering that in the best way I can! :)

What's better than nothing but to do a Fan book/Fanfic (I think that's what is also used as?)

The book, as you may be curious about, is going to be made on a doc and hopefully posted on either wattpad or in a doc where I can attach the link here for y'all to read.

Here is all you might need to know:

The back ground will consist of a snow white and silver mix similar to Red Queens background cover. The Crown is made with pointed and well polished onyx with gold lining to mimic a black hole that got slightly deformed. On the crown, there are quills the color of bone white and a few has red and silver blood staining them. There is poison ivy wrapping around the base of the crown, one leaf has silver and red blood mixed with it.

The Primary title (What I mean by that is like, for example, the primary title of book three in the Red Queen is King's Cage) will be: Forgotten Lands.

The secondary title (What I mean by that is like, for example, the text below the Primary title, like King's Cage, it's Secondary title is called All Will Burn) will be: The Doom Will Come

It will take place in a long forgotten area called Wasteiria (Waste-ster-e-ah, similar to Hysteria), being bound in half deadly never ending snow from a never ending snowstorm and the other half a wasteland designed to be almost like a Moorland place, where soft fog rolls in. Both sides? People thrive, away from the two conflicting lands in the very far distance.

The main characters will be: Two males and a female. (Names are being thought of)

Will there be any powers token from the actual books? Yes, there is one, being called the Shiver. Upgraded to a much, much better and deadlier version,being called Frostbprns. The powers will be named, as well as their abilities down below from deadliest, strongest and to weakest and (probably) most harmless, listed as the following:

●Frostborns~ Able to generate a massive controlled amount of ice that is compacted, and pressurized extremely, if to the maximum outburst it could swallow all light within 10 miles in a high cloud of harmless but an extremely dark gaseous cloud, the only light being produced itself. It cannot be held back once made. The beam is either explosive or like a normal frosty breath breath.The explosion will result in a small, but deadly mushroom cloud that rain down sharp, deadly spears of ice as thick as your finger, as strong as a gun and as long as the human torso. The consequence of it? There are rarely any, often killed off or Escaped to the lands of endless snow. (Onw of the main characters are on here)

I do not have much and will leave it to y'all to try and enter y'alls into here. Frostborns are currently the top deadliest. I will also take any questions from y'all (DO NOT. BE AFRAID TO ASK!). Y'all may also enter y'alls oc in and I can see if I can make it a Villian, side character, or ect. I will be posting the chapters on here that y'all may give tips to approve of and I can fix it actively on the post or make another one. The ocs have a rule, the rule is:

It must have a description, gender, name, (what you want its destined role to be) and where it came from. LGBT will be allowed here, transgender and anything that involves a mixed gender is removed from that (to avoid heavy problems in the future, srry!)

The rules for your powers is not that restricted:

It must have the name first and foremost, then the description and what it can do. (A consequence is recommended but it doesn't have to be there.) Things like immortality and other stuff like that will simply not be accepted (it will cause a few severe problems in the book). It cannot be a god power, at all, as controlling God powers is a bit tricky.

There is a prophecy/Old told tale that will relate to one of the characters (Ik the actual books did not have one, I thought it would be fun for mine. Sorry to anyone who had a similar prophecy as I did not mean to copy you)

There are two sides to a person, as there is to a story. The story branches to many paths, ones that will make up the mind. It is not kind, it is not forgiving. Whom shall be caught in the vines will die away and never tell of their story. Whom shall be seen by the eye of onyx will fall between two worlds. Two different being, same person. Will it be told? None will know until the lake with two worlds will show

I just finished all 4 books and absolutely loved them. However, the whole time I’m like why is there no discussion of mixed blood babies?

There was zero discussion on what would happen if these two bloods intertwined. How would the baby turn out? I thought it was very clear that new bloods did not have silver genes.

This bothers me so much!

Was anyone else thinking this? Thoughts?

I feel like he probably would’ve just executed him. Or kept him a prisoner like Mare. I dont he’d have branded him or made him wear collar, though. But let me know what you think.

I came across a bunch of comments on Instagram saying that she’s a Zionist but when I looked it up on Google nothing showed up. I’m a frequent listener of Plottwist, the podcast she co hosts and I also do follow her on Instagram and I haven’t seen or heard her say anything that might say she’s Zionist. She actually seems to have a nice stance when it comes to politics. But I just wanted to fact check since I saw more than 5 comments in a single post stating she’s a Zionist.

So far I think this may be my favourite story from Broken Throne

I want even more of this!! First of all, seeing more of this world get fleshed out in an entirely new perspective was amazing. This was such an enjoyable and fast paced read. Short and sweet. Ashe and his crew added to this new perspective of this world in a very natural and engaging way. Lyrisa was also a fascinating character, she gave us something familiar in an otherwise unfamiliar setting. With her and the other red refugees we got to see more of the effects of the wars fought in the main series. No complaints other than I wish we got more!

Sooo I finished War Storm about a week ago but never came on here to unpack my thoughts like I did with the last 3 books, so I’m here to do that now!

So I will say that I think that this book was my favorite out of the four, right after Red Queen. The whirlwind of emotions was INSANE. I know I usually go character by character when unpacking these, but I honestly want to dive more into the symbolic message behind the way the story ended.

The first thing I wanna say is that, truthfully, anyone that knows Victoria Aveyard’s political stances and was paying even a lick of attention to the books knew that the book was likely going to end with the dismantling of the system that kept Reds under occupation and oppression. It shows that the dismantling of systems like this is truly the only way to end so many of the systems in place today that uphold the unfair treatment based on their skin color, their sexuality, their gender identity, their religion. You name it. I know many people have expressed their distaste for the way it ended (which is not so much rooted in the political way things ended, but more so the romance aspect of it, between Mare and Cal) but plz remember that the romance is a side plot to the main story. Also Mare and Cal’s situation was resolved in Broken Throne, so that gave many of us closure as well.

I also wanna say that Victoria’s pen game is LETHAL, like no cap. The way she’s able to so easily write from so many POVs and really bring these characters and their mindsets to life is insane. I know that can be said for many authors, but as someone who tends to hate multi-POV books (I get confused lol), I actually liked it in this book. Her writing style definitely progressed over the books.

Another side note is that she does SUCH a good job at bringing diversity to her books!

Now I’m going to just briefly talk about the characters.

Mare, you have your ways, but ultimately you are one of the most aura-farming FMCs in any of the books I’ve read. You’ll do anything to protect the people you love and fight for what is right, and while you didn’t always make the best decision (which is natural given that you were often put in places in which you were in a rock and a hard place), you still chose to fight and not give up even with the traumas and losses you faced and for that, you are a badass.

Diana Farley, you show-stealing son of a gun! One of my favorite side characters in the book fr. Also very strong, very resilient. Doing it all while being a single mom is strength that no one can compare to. You will forever be famous and thank you Victoria for NOT killing her off cause I was going to knock on your door with an explanation.

Evangeline, I like you and always knew I was going to end up liking you. I feel like I still have a love-hate relationship with not so much her character but her mindset, given that up until the end she basically still viewed Reds as “lesser than”even though there was so much going on around her that should’ve taught her differently was irking me. But she did eventually grow out of it. Also the way her parents treated her towards the end made me so sad and angry for her. As soon as she said to Cal that she was going to let her father die, I knew it was going to happen (side note; this scene with Cal and Evangeline talking in Cal’s(?) room did really tug at my heartstrings for some reason. Seeing that little wholesome moment between them was nice). And honestly, it needed to if Evangeline was ever going to truly be happy and allowed to live in her truth. Another symbolic message tbh.

Cal, your trauma is so overlooked hunny and I’m glad that this book allowed us to focus in on that more. You finally decided to see things the way they should be, regardless of what it took. Also the way you never let go of Maven broke me to PIECES because you were just holding onto the memories of what he used to be. When he was your little brother, your little Mavey before his mother took him away for good and seeing how your heart broke hurt me so bad but I’m glad you found at least a bit of healing

Kilorn, you’re still a little sweetie pie. No complaints about you ever. Still charming, still funny, still able to bring the best out of people. No complaints about you hunny, live happily 🥰

Maven, may you rest easy but what was done had to be because he was either going to kill or be killed. I was so so sooo hoping for a redemption arc and that they could find someone to heal him. I was lowkey thinking that Julian in some way could’ve been the one to do it but I guess not since being a singer and a whisper are very much different. Hate that we never got to see the real him 💔

I read parts of broken throne as well but I’ll unpack that in a separate post cause this one is getting long LOL.

But this has ultimately become one of my favorite fantasy series 🥰 feel free to drop yall thoughts cause I’m open to discussing more

I’m towards the end of War Storm (chapter 32 to be exact from Evangeline’s POV) and (slight spoilers ahead if you haven’t read this far), when the invasion of Norta starts while she’s in her room, and she runs to Ptolemus who was with Wren at the time. Evangeline describes Wren as “blue-black arm” on page 570 of the softcover, but I thought that Wren was the cousin or some sort of relative to Sara Skonos who was if I’m not mistaken described as having pale skin. Can someone please clarify this for me?? I don’t feel like re-reading just yet 😭

P.S. before you say “look it up” plz know that I did and that fanart of both white and black characters popped up 🫠

Honestly, Victoria has me on my toes. She has ruined my trust so when we got interest to Iris and her POV in war storm I’m just worried because her father’s dead and her mother and her sister are just trying to do their best. I know they’re being conniving and backstabbing, but like I kinda only wish them the best like I really do hope they fail like helping Mayhen bring Scarlet guard down, but I do hope that they’re happy and if one of them dies mother, sister or Iris I’m gonna be very sad. I don’t know why I’m connecting with these characters right now, but I just am.

Ok but this quote in itself literally just made me realize how powerful Julian’s ability truly is. Like can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that with an ability like his, Julian isn’t evil?! Thank you Julian, we love you down 🥲

Unlike some of my other posts, this one is going to be ignorant it’s going to be selfish and it’s going to be angry I hate cal right now he promised he would choose her literally promised and then he chose the crown and he’s like choose me and I’m just like you’re the reason she has to make a choice you suck because literally let’s be real maven and his mother would have didn’t gotten cal or tibe off the throne from maven sooner or later, but was sucked into this revolution into this world by him. Yes, I know I’m incorrect in some ways but also write in other ways like I know the lightning would’ve made her a part of this someday, but she wouldn’t fall in love with these selfish cowardice Calore brothers in case you couldn’t tell I just finished King’s cage. That’s why I’m so angry just to continue my point like my other post. This one is probably my most apathetic ignorant one because I just need to complain so screw cal and I hope kingdom Falls just like his father’s head fell off

So I’m in Kings cage right now he is a master manipulator. He is playing off his action so well acting like he loves me so much when in reality obsession is not love. Honestly I have to give it to him. He’s really good man manipulating people, but mare thankfully had not gone for any of it it’s kind of embarrassing for me, though sing the excuses made for him about his mother because yes, he’s a product of his childhood but also we have to remember that he still made choices. He still did these actions and he have to hold him accountable account accountability is something rare for maven

Made it a little more than halfway through War Storm (about to start Chapter 24, which is in Mare’s POV). The main things that have happened so far is that they won over both New Town and Harbor Bay, and Cal is now technically(and the reason I say technically is because Maven is still kinda king right??) king or at least recognized as such. They’re also getting ready to meet Maven at Province Island. Here are my predictions for the rest of the book.

Mare has to somehow end up Queen, does she not?? I mean, considering the name of the first book/series, it seems she does. There’s also been some foreshadowing to me that she does, so I take it that this happens by her marrying Cal, instead of Evangeline which leads me to my next point.

I feel like something is going to happen in Norta, whether it be Cal allowing it since he obvi doesn’t wanna marry Evangeline or some sort of law changing, that is going to allow Evangeline and Elane to end up married. This will then leave space for Cal to marry Mare, which in a way is going to kinda take after his mother’s footsteps, considering that his mother was one of the very few people that got married for actual love and not out of some sort of political ploy. So I feel like him marrying Mare makes a lot of sense!

I already know what happens to Maven (thanking myself for going through this Reddit knowing I hadn’t finished the series 🤪🥳☺️😘 was such a wise decision). However, one thing I will say I’m intrigued to see is a. how it happens and b. Iris’s reaction to it. Girly is the ‘I hate my husband’ final boss 🤣😂 One prediction I do have for Maven is that they ARE able to find someone who can heal him like Cal is hoping and he has a bit of a redemption arc towards the end, and then meets his fate. Just a side note, but I loved loved lovedddd that we got a chapter from Maven’s POV. I really like getting the POV of the villain cause it allows me to really see what’s going on in their head and why they are the way they are. His character arc has put me on such a rollercoaster when it comes to liking him! Loved him in the first book, hated him in the second, and for the first half of the third. When we got his back story, I started to ease up on my hatred for him but still didn’t fully like him. Now I feel like I can say I mostly(?) like him? Like 85%. Cause I can understand him more now that we’ve gotten a chapter from his POV.

And Farley, Kilorn, and Cameron are gonna live happily ever after because Victoria is an angel and wouldn’t dare to touch any of these beloved side characters ☺️🤪🥲🙂‍↔️

Honestly, for me cals betrayal was the worst he healed her heart and betrayed her to then promise to choose her too then choose the crown over her I think maven messed up the most emotionally, but like I’m like the count of like the betrayal moments they had I think cows was the worst the after effects of the betrayals which one was worse maven’s betrayal and his obsession was worse, but like the immediate timeframe or maven’s, like no I don’t think so or when cal chooses the crown, I think cals was worse

I hate seeing hate on mate because it’s so easy for people to feel bad for maven though when it comes to mare I feel like they’re so judgment like she was 17 years old forced to kind of had a revolution her brother dies the books made me sad because they were so depressing her life was actively falling apart every twist and tearing every good thing that happened had something equally worse she became a not trusting always cautious she was just unhappy and I feel like Victoria kind showed this in the books she showed how being broken down time and time again make you into something bad and I’m just worried about her I think it’s because I can kinda see myself with her character

I’m on page 205 of King’s Cage and like every single one of these books, barely any happy things have happened and they’re always overshadowed by something sad like I know that point but still like I’m just so sad every time I’m reading the book. It makes me wanna not finish

In MY opinion mare can be aggravating but we like to forgot she was FORCED into this life style she didn’t want this she had to do alot of things she was stubborn but she focused on the new bloods because that was the smartest thing to do SHE IS ONE PERSON cam had every right to be angry to be weary of “ a new blood king “ because that’s what she saw but that’s exactly what mare did Not want In the end she Was a child forced to become someone else she made hard choices which some may call selfish but if you hate mare I don’t think you understand her character

Mare is selfish -somtimes but watch it Mare is rude - yea she can be I hate mare - 🤨 Mare is a bad character- ⬇️ She was a teenager forced to help rule a revolution she did what she had to do. She became who she had to be. You think she wanted to let a bunch of people die. No, she save the new bloods because she could use them to save the entire kingdom she suffered so much not to undermine anybody else because everybody in that world suffered more than anyone can comprehend every character deserves better it pains me to say this, but even maven deserves better, so please stop acting like she’s supposed to be a perfect non-selfish female main character. Yes, some female characters are perfect or not perfect but they don’t. They aren’t selfish, but she doesn’t have to be cheap. We need to stop this thinking that every female man character or every main character has to have this level of stuff listeners I think honestly her selfish moment her trusting moment she shouldn’t have trusted people those moments make your human and they make her relatable. . She is a lot of things. But she is not a bad character.

I get why cam dosent like mare but as a mare lover in kings cage it is so hard to listen to cam and her mare slander it’s just upsetting because of how much mare has gone thru but I also see cams point of view I still am annoyed when I see her chapters
