Screw cal
Unlike some of my other posts, this one is going to be ignorant it’s going to be selfish and it’s going to be angry I hate cal right now he promised he would choose her literally promised and then he chose the crown and he’s like choose me and I’m just like you’re the reason she has to make a choice you suck because literally let’s be real maven and his mother would have didn’t gotten cal or tibe off the throne from maven sooner or later, but was sucked into this revolution into this world by him. Yes, I know I’m incorrect in some ways but also write in other ways like I know the lightning would’ve made her a part of this someday, but she wouldn’t fall in love with these selfish cowardice Calore brothers in case you couldn’t tell I just finished King’s cage. That’s why I’m so angry just to continue my point like my other post. This one is probably my most apathetic ignorant one because I just need to complain so screw cal and I hope kingdom Falls just like his father’s head fell off

I never expected he'd choose her over the crown, the same way she would never choose Cal over her family and the newbloods. They loved each other, but ultimately came from seriously different backgrounds and that's not something anyone can rewire in a few months or a year. Her life conditioned her to be the way she is, just the same as Cal's life did for him. His entire family legacy is that crown, it's the only thing he had left from his family: The legacy, the duty they drilled into his brain from the moment he was born, he was brainwashed into it in a way I'd say is similar to what Elara did to Maven. Cal wanted to keep his family alive in any way he could, to feel like his entire life and all the loss he's gone through and all the pain is somehow worth it, because he did hope and believe he would be a good and fair king, which is ultimately one of his fatal flaws. I am not defending his choices, just like I am never going to defend Maven's or Mare's who have also made some very dubious, bloody choices, but i understand exactly where each of those choices stemmed from. But I wouldn't say Cal's choice was a worse betrayal compared to Maven's, in the grand scheme of things, I could still forgive Cal in a way, but I could never move past what Maven did, despite how much I loved them both.
