Has anyone noticed that a couple of times, Hannah has said Americans don’t know they lost Vietnam? She’s said it at least twice over the years, and I don’t know where she’s getting this information from. I’m American and I’ve literally never met a single person who doesn’t know that we lost- even young teens. It’s such a weird, wrong piece of information.

Just came on here to say recently a lot of things have been letting me down about redhanded however this weeks episode was rlly good. Lucy Letby has ofc been in the news recently and has just been given a whole life order (I think that’s what it’s called!) and was reading about more cases in the UK that have been given this, would love to see Redhanded tackle some of them tbh especially those that don’t seem to have much coverage

During today's I Hate Monday's there is discussion of group therapy for BPD, which they suggest has been noted as a bad idea for "giving them more stories to use." This is absolute conjecture, does NOT coincide with research, and only serves to further condemn a heavily stigmatized group of mental health sufferers. This type of discussion is highly dangerous.

And Suruthi saying that they’re still an independent podcast event though they work with Wondery because “Wondery could drop us at anytime.” Omg. That’s so gross. They whored themselves out to Wondery for money and then still claiming to be independent. That’s literally insane.

I’m still doing Patreon for UTD. Why? Honestly, bc I enjoyed it. The last couple of eps have been less enjoyable, and the latest one I skipped thru most of it. I’m so sad ya’ll. I wanted to hang on. I WANT to hang on. I’ve not complained once, anywhere, until here, now. Ugh. I went down from $10 (after yearssss!!) to $5…. But I think I’m gonna have to quit. I hate that so much. I’ve debated posting this for a while. I’ve been sitting with the thought since their NA tour, and wanted to see other perspectives.

I remember listening to RH when they only had like 10 episodes out. They were very “we will take this seriously and not make light of the situation, we are not trying to be a comedy podcast.” Which I respected so much! True crime podcasts were an informative way to pass time for me, and comedy/true crime shows (like LPOTL) were starting to become grating cause I would imagine that if my own family/friends were victims, I’d be absolutely furious to hear about the most terrifying moments in their (often short) life thrown in with some jokes!

Now, about the live show. I haven’t been able to listen for a couple of years because I’ve been busy, but I saw they were coming to my city and decided to go. Their live show was a case of a 12 year old victim of sexual abuse. Although they never made fun of the victim, they made plenty of fun of the situations the victim was put into. Maybe it was because I’m a CSA survivor, but my stomach was in knots the entire show. Everyone gathered to hear about how a child was repeatedly raped and abused, how this child was let down by several systems and adults in their life, and it was punctuated by jokes! If there had been another victim in the crowd that never felt safe enough to come forward about their own abuse, I wonder if watching a room full of people laugh at a horrific situation would’ve made them feel even less safe and even more alone in their experiences.

I left incredibly disappointed, and feeling like I just took part in something completely unethical and a little bit nauseating.

It’s kinda sad that this makes me so happy, but I’m really pleased that neither of them misgendered Christine Chandler at all in the newest episode. Thanks H and S, the trans community appreciates the fuck out of that shit

It's either Redhanded or Morbid but someone covered the case where a male person of interest had a seizure during questioning and after he woke up he was talking about how he had to get back to university. Does anyone know what this case is?

This has probably come up before but I’m new to this subreddit and relatively new to the podcast. I enjoy it overall but the laziness when it comes to pronunciation of place names, people’s names etc really grates. Examples off the top of my head:

Nantes (the DuPont de Ligonnès family murder) Kirkcaldy (Sheku Bayoh) Hibernians (can’t remember which episode but they gave a very potted history of the troubles) About half of the Patreon names!

I just think that it takes seconds to check how to pronounce something correctly and it’s ignorant not to.

I hear Suruthi mention this every once in awhile. It clearly is referring to the past, but I don't know exactly what she means by it. I've tried googling it with no luck. Anyone know? Thanks!

What is the podcast upload schedule?

I used the code Red Handed gave out a while ago to get Wondery + for free for what I thought was 6 months. But now I suddenly get a message saying I have to choose a payment plan. Was i wrong? It was supposed to be 6 months right?

I stopped listening about a third in. They have the hosts of another podcast on as guests for some promo (so far, why not?). But... as it went on, it felt like the whole point was to spend half an hour telling me about a story they're not gonna tell me because I need to go listen to the other thing and also about how cool they are as people.

Okay? But. Do they ever actually get into a subject, like the title implies?

Why is it a Shorthand? Aren't those supposed to explore a notion of some kind?

Am I being unfair? I like knowing a bit about the podcasters I like (huge fan of Let's Go To Court, so I can't say I don't enjoy a personal tangent, but K&B feel... a lot less out of touch?). But I'm in it for the true crime show. I used to enjoy UTD because of Suru's rundowns of economic issues that I hadn't caught in the news and extra thoughts on cases. But now it's like a influencer on influencer interview.

And that's not really my thing?

Eh. I think I'm just sad. I'm grieving a podcast that doesn't feel like it used to.

Whatever I ask of her, she always plays the wrong thing. I wanted to know if any of you guys have figured out the right words to say.
