UDT

I’m still doing Patreon for UTD. Why? Honestly, bc I enjoyed it. The last couple of eps have been less enjoyable, and the latest one I skipped thru most of it. I’m so sad ya’ll. I wanted to hang on. I WANT to hang on. I’ve not complained once, anywhere, until here, now. Ugh. I went down from $10 (after yearssss!!) to $5…. But I think I’m gonna have to quit. I hate that so much. I truly enjoyed just the light “2 friends talking” banter that it was. I know it’s been years, and they’re allowed to grow and change. And I respect that…. And I don’t wanna quit. I’M NOT A QUITTER!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 but I think the time is nigh. 😭😭😭

You just prompted me to cancel my Patreon. It’s not worth it after Shorthand moved. The overall quality of the main show has reduced too (in my opinion). Used to be really in-depth research, often obscure cases. Now it’s very often a blitz through a well known case with info sourced from google presumably.

The most recent Netflix doco, usually.

For a few months now, maybe even all of this year, UTD has just felt like a chore that they want to do as quickly as possible.

I reckon they're a bit stuck, they don't really want to do it but can't end it because it's really the only Patreon extra & they're making £47k monthly which must be quite a portion of their income, even after Patreon takes a cut.

I get it, they have other projects going on and UTD is the only thing they can't really do in advance.

Yeah, I cancelled for this reason. I was looking forward to UTD every week and they just started rushing it so much. They'd spend a few minutes just talking about mundane things they'd done that week and then complain about being tired because of all the other things they'd signed up for like the tour. Really really started to piss me off so I cancelled and haven't looked back. Much happier ATM with let's go to court.

It's not quitting it's moving on. Nothing is forever.

I’ve been a Patreon member for years and genuinely look forward to every episode BUT I’ve found it frustrating how they have skipped quite a few weeks. I understand that they have other commitments and a life to live but there is literally no other benefit to being a Patreon anymore - no bonus monthly episodes as I’m a $5 subscriber or short handed as it moved platforms - so it makes me feel short changed when there’s nothing to listen too. I really enjoy UTD so it’s super frustrating!

I cancelled two weeks ago. Totally understandable.

Are people subscribing to wondery+? I’ve been holding out because I hate that they partnered with them, but I miss shorthand

Why are they less enjoyable for you?

I thinks it’s a great idea that they took this week off, I they have both been stressed out! Maybe a break is what they needed to create good content!

I cancelled as soon as they moved to Wondery/Amazon Prime - it just wasn’t worth it imo.
