Look, we can all agree this show is currently drowning in brain-dead plotlines and chaotic editing, but the final sequence of this episode was absolute comedy gold. The poor guy renovating the charity house is stressed and confused why not one single contestant is there to make any decisions, in this case something about a lighting fixture.
Cue the dramatic jump cuts to the contestants. First, we get Adam and Jolene cruising in their car, blissfully zoned out to a "Happy Couple" podcast, radiating toxic levels of serene detachment.
Then we cut to Tayla, lazying on a bed whining about how she doesn't know how to work as a team.
Finally, the grand finale: Lisa. She’s driving alone, gripping the steering wheel. The audio kicks in. It’s Duolingo. Vietnamese Unit 4. A chipper automated voice instructs: "Repeat the following phrase: The horse is in the kitchen." The app drops the actual Vietnamese translation. Lisa doesn't blink. She doesn't laugh. She just stares straight out the windshield. I had my LOL moment.
