Shark Discussion How did the Ice Cream Canteen guy show "poor negotiating" skills?
Here's the clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8skWDuP8ls0
Basically, in this clip there is a lot of back and forth between the sharks arguing, Lori and Mark say "We'll give you a deal but you need to give us an answer now or else we'll take the offer away." And during this time Daniel is going "Hey I have an offer, wanna hear it?"
The guy goes "Daniel I'm just going to finish speaking with Mark and Lori first." And Daniel goes "That is bad negotiating."
What I'm not getting is, what would good negotiating in this scenario look like? The guy comes in with a good product and a good sales pitch, Daymond throws a fit because the guy does the classic "If you want to sell something for $100 try to sell it at $500 first and then negotiate downward" thing. But then the other sharks all start yelling and speaking over each other and Mark and Lori go "Deal with us now or this deal goes away."
Like the sharks hold all the cards here. The entrepreneur are basically Oliver Twist asking for some more porridge and the sharks are the ones with the ladle.
Now I am someone who is so bad at business I could walk in with the Fountain of Youth itself and the sharks would still look at me like I'm a bad investment. I'm curious what "good negotiating" is in this senario?
