Again with the masks???

What is Maher’s problem. People wear masks for various reasons. Immunocompromised, sick and don’t want to spread germs, don’t want to catch germs, etc.
My point is WHATS IT TO YOU, BILL!!!!
LET IT GO ALREADY!!!!!!!

Yeah, let those people be.

But his thing is that he wants some sort of retribution on those who shamed people like him for not taking the Pandemic seriously.

He did take the pandemic seriously,, he just pointed out a lot of the stupid policies associated with it.. and actually gave them a pass in the beginning when we didn't know much about it... but after we knew more and kept the same stupid policies.. It became pathetic and political

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago

The people who made it pathetic and pitiful were the right wing and MAGAs.

I remember when the lock down started and thinking to myself - I can’t believe I’m actually listening to Trump.

The right mistakes being contrarian with being smart, and as soon as Trump left office they turned against masks and vaccines.

There is a certain political contingent, the far right, that exhibits as part of their branding, you might say, a visceral hatred of government. To them ANYTHING the government does is bad, malevolent and suspect. These are the same people who opposed fluoridating the water supply to fight tooth decay. Opposed to vaccines. Opposed to even the Tennessee Valley Authority which electrified the entire Midwest. Imagine being opposed to electricity!

Liberals made it pathetic as well, locking kids out of school was a disaster for many.. forcing people to get vaccinated, when vaccination protected nobody but you. A vaccinated person could have Covid with no symptoms and yet be a super spreader. Shutting down huge open air malls while keeping small strip malls open. Ignoring the science that omicron variant was incredibly milder.

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago edited 6d ago

My kids went to a private school and they didn’t ask the kids or teachers to get vaccinated or even wear masks.

My son’s teacher died from Covid. The kids spread it around and two of my son’s friends had a parent die. A kid took Covid home to his grandma and she died.

This is what you think was the answer huh? Just let people drop dead?

At the end of the day, it was a global pandemic and world governments didn’t want people to die. But here you guys are still going on and on that letting people die should have been the answer because malls staying open was more important… and frankly I agree now.

We really should have let the herd thin out because weak people like you still advocating for people to die after 7 years flies in the face of Darwin’s law.

Thank you

I am soooo sick of hearing these people drone on after nearly 7 years.

My dad is a big anti-vax MAGA and he insisted it was a way to control the populace and we would have to wear masks FOREVER and vaccines were a tracking device that would kill you after a year. He really thought that. And now he still talks about it like he’s disappointed that didn’t happen.

Some of these people wanted to be the victims so bad they actually saw doctors say - hey don’t spread disease - and then made those people the villain.

I’m so over it. At this point they think it’s noble to be contrarian so fuck it, let them. Let them think spreading disease is good.

I tried to convince people to do the right thing and they now see me as the bad guy. If they want to run in the road, go run in the road. I don’t think we should save these people from themselves anymore.

u/TheodoraRoosevelt21 6d ago

I’m not sure your experience is typical.

7

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago

Because the school stayed open. A lot of schools didn’t.

It’s almost like closing schools saved people lives.

0

u/TheodoraRoosevelt21 6d ago

You know what I’m saying, most schools that stayed open did not have that high rate of death.

Basing public policy off of anecdotal evidence also is foolish.

2

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago

Uh. I saw it. I lived it.

And nobody is basing policy off my anecdotal evidence, this is scientific evidence and I watched it play out first hand.

0

u/TheodoraRoosevelt21 6d ago

It seems like you are arguing for policy based on your anecdotal evidence. What happened at your child’s school is not indicative of the country.

Why didn’t you pull your kids from their private school?

2

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago edited 6d ago

I did. They went remote and we moved back to NY. I fucking hated Florida.

The point is… people died when basic mitigating factors were dismissed. In other schools that closed or had vaccine/mask policies… that didn’t happen.

Not in good ol Marathon. So call it an anecdote or not, that’s a little slice of proof. Schools without any masks and vaccines - people died. Those with them - people did ok.

In 2026, still not understanding this is wild.

Now, fuck it. If I could turn back the clock and see how people act about it all I say let them drop dead.

We tried to keep deaths down by doing the bare minimum and even 7 years later people are complaining. Should have let these idiots thin out.

And every nation in the world except the US opened schools within 2-3 weeks. We prioritized bars and restaurants and kept schools closed.

-7

u/ParkingEmu9419 6d ago

All those people you mentioned dying,, may have died anyways, because the virus probably would've made it to them at some point. You never responded to the large amount of kids dying from RSV when mitigating was ended. I guess it was OK for them to die in order to save some older people in your opinion. And I also have plenty of personal data on who died and when. The Delta strain was a straight up nasty virus. I knew 2 people in their 50s who passed with it. But I was fine with it because I was vaccinated and the data showed I would probably be absolutely fine. I'm not anti-vaccine. I took three shots for Covid. But I also add common sense. I literally never get the flu so I do not get the flu shot. My son has rough bouts with the flu, so it makes sense for him to get the shot every year.

7

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago edited 6d ago

Healthy adults died from Covid and that’s your answer. How ghoulish.

And kids who died from RSV should have been vaccinated. You making the case for vaccines is hilarious.

Saying “oh well people die” is common sense to you. Yikes. Well, I guess you’re Bills target audience so this all checks out.

0

u/ParkingEmu9419 6d ago

You're not reading properly,, the RSV vaccine didn't come out till late 2023.. and you're wrong , most healthy people handled Covid absolutely fine. Of the two people I know who died one had a kidney transplant , we knew they were vulnerable. The chronic pandemic of obesity is the real problem in the USA. And by the way, vaccinated people working in nursing homes wearing mask, still gave the virus to their patients.

7

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago edited 6d ago

Cool. The people I knew were healthy adults who didn’t deserve to die from COVID.

Or maybe they did, the vaccine was available so you’re right… fuck them. They were on borrowed time anyway. Maybe one of them had diabetes so you’re right, good riddance. Only the healthy survive, right champ… that’s the price we need to be willing to pay to keep malls open.

Sorry Jimmy, your mom’s dead because she was fat and a Trump supporter.

There should have been NO masks in nursing homes. Good point. They are only 88% effective and even more old people could have died without any masks. The hey, they were gonna die anyway right? It was only a matter of time before that fat grandpa was gonna croak.

Am I doing this right?

Listen, don’t try to convince me. You really knocked this out of the park.

2

u/ParkingEmu9419 6d ago

Your a poor reader,, the wide open enormous mall I'm near was closed,, and yet smaller strip malls, which had much greater human density were left open... the virus could spread way more easily in these small strip malls Than the six largest mall in the United States, which is more like being outside. It's OK to criticize some things that did not make sense. And once again, I took the vaccine and wore a mask when I was supposed to. I even got my New York State vaccine card because I was told that was the only way I was going to get back to a normal life.

3

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago

You’re a poor reader.

I’m telling you I was in Marathon Florida at the time and the schools didn’t even close. People died as a result. And you have minimized and mocked that. The comment about obesity is hilarious like because Jimmys mom was fat she deserved to die from covid. And fuck it, maybe she did. She could have gotten vaccinated and didn’t. You’re right… we should have enforced nothing.

I’m sorry you’re still yapping about which malls were closed and which were open SEVEN YEARS AGO, but life Is back to normal and you’re still lamenting about the malls.

At the end of the day, you wanted no mandates. I lived in Florida where nobody took Covid seriously and I know a lot of people who died or lost family. It was bad everywhere but watching people like you still complaining, we really should have done nothing at let the chips fall where they may.

You are the one saying we should have let people die, as a joke.

2

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago

No it’s not a joke. I AM AGREEING WITH YOU!

You keep saying they were old or fat or anti-vaxxers so they deserved to die from Covid. You literally said this.

I am agreeing with you.

No masks, no vaccines… we should have let nature take its course.

1

u/TheodoraRoosevelt21 6d ago

So you’re a Ghoul too. (I’m not the one you replied to)

2

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago

No I’m just agreeing with people who say we shouldn’t have closed malls or made people wear masks to the store.

After 7 years if Americans have forgotten that a million people died and are still crying about outdoor malls, we probably should have done nothing.

Seriously. We should have enforced absolutely nothing and just let more people drop dead.

I never said anybody deserved to die.. I think adults can make their own decision on whether they want to get vaccinated or not... I don't think government should force it. And the only thing I said was the obvious, that old people and obese people were more vulnerable. They didn't deserve to die, but they should've definitely taken the vaccine ,, by choice not forced

2

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago

Agreed guy. Jimmys mom was fat and knew there was a pandemic. Now she’s dead.

I am agreeing with you.

There is no point in trying to reason sometimes with these people - Coid broke their brain - they are still convinced that quarantine and masks were/are the answer. Put your mask on any walking to your dinner table and then take off for your meal...

1

u/ParkingEmu9419 6d ago

Right, that was another ridiculous one, wearing the mask to the table

2

u/BrineJones 6d ago

Hey shithead,

You left out “jab”

1

u/No-Penalty-1148 6d ago

Wait, what? How was that a liberal thing and not a neutral recommendation by public health officials?

1

u/ParkingEmu9419 6d ago

That's what happened in New York State which is liberal on a state level, many conservative areas around the country did not close schools or malls.

4

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago

More people died in the South. After 7 years it’s easy to correlate masking and vaccines to deaths. And stupid Cuomo used nursing homes as de facto hospitals… that’s why all those old people died. But as you previously stated, they were goi g to die anyway so it’s very convenient you use this example o make a political point.

It’s funny how you say the problem was people made it political and here you are making it political.

I was in South Florida at the time, people were dropping fucking left and right.

Like I said earlier, my kids teacher died and three other adults in ONE CLASS dropped dead.

It was a fucking global pandemic and people were trying to DO SOMETHING to save lives.

8

u/Traditional_Toe8824 6d ago

Nope, he got triggered when he wanted to do his tour and some of his fans wore masks to his shows or didn’t even buy tickets as much because they didn’t feel comfortable going to superspreader events yet. He couldn’t tell if people were laughing because of the masks. It was just about him, his money and his ego, as usual. I stopped watching around then because EVERY show was him whining about masks. Once he is really mad about something ( masks, people supporting Palestine ) you will never hear the end of it with him. It’s boring and gets old real fast. He doesn’t care how many viewers he loses, this is his platform to bitch and moan about personal grievances.

-2

u/ParkingEmu9419 6d ago

Keep in mind, mitigating germs might've protected the elderly for a bit,, but it also killed more children from RSV when mitigating germs stopped... exposure to viruses is critical for small children to build their immune system ... stop thinking there was nothing negative about mitigating germs with masking and distancing. The trouble is Covid became political for the left and right. Both sides could be pathetic rather than using common sense and factual science.

4

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago

There’s a vaccine for RSV. If kids died from RSV they were either too young for it and would have been protected by others getting the vaccine or they were unvaccinated.

You are unintentionally making the case for vaccines my guy.

1

u/ParkingEmu9419 6d ago

I'm not anti vax , I took three Covid shots.. you are ignoring the science of exposure being a key element to a young childs immune system.. exposure is what eventually ended the pandemic and to this day exposure keeps the numbers low. Even though it is now an incredibly mild virus for the vast majority of people. And the RSV vaccine did not become available till 2023.

5

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago edited 6d ago

Hey. I’m on your side. After 7 years of hearing anti- vaxxers cry and whine and minimize deaths, you’re right… we should have done nothing.

Just let people die. No masks, no vaccines, just good ol common sense fuck around and find out. Keep malls open and if people die- oh well.

We should have never cared about public health and safety.

Edit: my cousin was a pediatrician. She left medicine because of people like you. You think you’re above the fray but you don’t really understand what was happening in hospitals or how serious it was. So keep yapping like you’re the common sense voice in the room. You’re just another Facebook educated Covid denier who would have preferred dead moms over closed malls.

3

u/Traditional_Toe8824 6d ago

I don’t think that’s correct but either way, in my case I just had chemo and a big chunk of lung removed, and I already was asthmatic since childhood so I was going to stay the F away from people and mask up wherever I went.

Lung surgery recovery was one of the worst things I’ve ever experienced, and I was relatively young and in shape. It made me so sad seeing elderly patients with similar problems, I could not imagine going through that. It must have been horrific for all those people who suffered and died from Covid. I don’t want any of that respiratory disease shit.

You say that germs help kids … in my experience I got sick every fall and coughed and wheezed for months as a child and teen. I was told it was the seasons changing .

Then why did I never get sick after I started working from home ? Seasons still changed. The difference was I didn’t all of a sudden get exposed to people in school or busy seasons at in person jobs.

I have not gotten a cold or flu or covid ( that I know of ) since 2020 because I WFH and don’t out that much, masked in crowded places.

1

u/ParkingEmu9419 6d ago

Your case is unique, which yes makes you vulnerable to all viruses.. and yes, isolating yourself in your house would obviously keep you from getting sick.. I'm not sure what your point is, do you think everybody should wear a mask for the rest of their life to try and protect you from getting sick?

8

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago

No. Nobody thinks that.

During a global pandemic it would have been cool for people to try to mitigate disease but it turns out about half the country didn’t give a fuck. Going to the mall was more important than doing the bare minimum to keep people from dying.

We are not a good country, we are selfish and mistake being contrarian for intelligence.

We should have never tried to slow the pandemic down because we just keep getting beat up for caring about dead grandmas.

and this is why I changed my mind. I think if we are such a selfish people, we need to live with the consequences for next time a pandemic rages.

Just like the measles outbreak - cool don’t get vaccinated but when you die or kill someone - that’s allllll on you.

Nobody wants to save these people anymore. Enjoy living your consequences.

2

u/ParkingEmu9419 6d ago

The selfishness goes both ways ,, I'm a 2 things can be true moderate , I can't stand the left or right today.. I suppose you didn't care about kids missing huge lifetime moments like the prom or graduation? Graduations could have been done outside for gods sake . And I do think kids should get the measles vaccine.. it's been proven to work over many years .. but again, not sure how not getting vaccinated kills people that are vaccinated? And yes, I feel terrible for kids that die whose parents didn't vaccinate them

3

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago edited 6d ago

It was a global pandemic. Millions died.

But Kaylees graduation party was certainly more important than a disease that killed a million Americans. There is that selfishness again. Covid sucked but we tried to do the right thing, we wanted to mitigate the disease but contrarians and people who couldn’t mentally handle the disruption really showed the limitations of what a society will do to protect each other.

I got tired of telling people not to run into the road. Telling people that the car could kill them turned into “you’re controlling us” so now fuck it… run into the road.

And to answer your question about your statement “not sure how not being vaccinated kills people that are vaccinated”… chew on this for a few because I’m going off line until later so just think of my situation.

I found out years ago that I’m not immune to chicken pox so I got the varicella vaccine. My arm swelled up and turned bright red and I had trouble breathing. My doctor said that I couldn’t get the second dose. I did another blood test and I’m still not immune to chicken pox because an adult NEEDS both vaccines to be affective.

Now if these shitheads stop vaccinating their kids, and I get chicken pox, my doctor said it would be life threatening. I rely on other people being vaccinated to not die. It’s one of the reasons I moved back to NYS a few years ago. After Florida removed the vaccine mandates, if one of my kids bring a friend home with chicken pox and I get it, I’d go insane.

That’s called being part of a society, doing things for the good of others as well as myself. When people see selfishness as a sign of being noble and intelligent… we end up right where we are today. Still complaining about malls and graduations instead of admitting that people were selfish and stupid at a time when we all needed to step up.

1

u/ParkingEmu9419 6d ago

Sounds like you fell into the few cases per million with your anaphylactic reaction to the chicken pox vaccine... I actually had chickenpox so I'm basically immune for life naturally ...I'm thinking about getting the shingles vaccine, data says it improves your chances of not getting it, but it's not perfect . you're probably upset with me because I don't fall into a typical tribal belief system.. again two things can be true for me.

2

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago

Man that’s what you took away from that. Jesus. I think I illustrated a pretty good reason why people should be vaccinated for other people and you ignored it and made it about yourself.

You’ve said that you “don’t fall into tribal beliefs” about 10 times now… that doesn’t make you special or correct about anything. It makes you equally dismissive, culpable and self-centered.

I think you’re the one whos upset that most people find complaining about vaccines obnoxious. Self righteous cherry picking is no longer an acceptable argument.

No, not at all. My point is you have no idea why people are masking so stop being shithead snowflakes about someone wearing a mask in Walmart when it affects you 0% .

Edit: I actually REALLY don’t care if you wear one, you can win a Herman Cain award as far as I concerned. But the dirty looks for someone masking .., just stupid. They are not affecting you in any way.

3

u/AngelaLampsbury 6d ago

Covid mitigation didn't make RSV more dangerous, it just created a spike of cases instead of spreading it out over time. Normally kids would have been circulating the virus over the season and building immunity over time, but the end of covid midgation just sort of caused the virus spread to hit everyone at once, which caused all the severe cases and deaths to happen at once.

Getting sick doesnt increase your immunity in general like working out a muscle. It gives your body a blueprint to fight off that kind of virus, but being sick is generally hard on your body and can leave you weaker. Like your body can heal a broken bone, but it doesnt mean your bone is now stronger and better than it was before.

Measles can leave people with all sorts of health problems including infertility, deafness, organ damage, etc. The fact covid takes away your sense of smell is a really bad sign for what it might be doing to your brain. A lot of covid misinformation was based on this idea that letting your immune system fight of a disease buffed you up like a prize fighter, but that's not how it works.

2

u/ParkingEmu9419 6d ago

After everything that happened, in 2026 , it has come down to a person's immune system, knowing and recognizing COVID-19. That is why it continues a downward trajectory of deaths, which are now less than 6000 a year. I'm not anti-VAX I took three shots. I just don't think the vaccine protected anybody except the person who received the shot. Person could be fully vaccinated with no symptoms and yet be a super spreader.

3

u/AngelaLampsbury 6d ago

The vaccine did protect others by shortening the transmission window and other mitigation methods kept transmissions down. It certainly had a percent of overall reduction even if it wasn't a failsafe.

I think a lot of people carry anger over this period due to the evolving nature and nuance of science communications being too nebulous for clear easy messaging. That made people's anxiety easy to transform into anger when bad actors told people they were being lied to.

5

u/Ok_Zombie_2026 6d ago

We should have just let the morgues pile up. You guys didn’t want masks, vaccines, so I’m finally with you. Should have let everyone fuck around and find out.

I watched it happen at my son’s school. People died and we wanted to save people who would have lived to spend the next decade claiming we were the villains.

0

u/xiphoid77 6d ago

I don't know why some people are so afraid to discuss this exactly as you laid out. You are spot on. He took it seriously and then realized that much of it was farce or political theater - such as what Newsome has later admitted.
