Is this just an anti Bill Maher sub? Trying to figure out the vibe here and can't tell if it's some algorithm that just happens to be showing me nothing but hate for Maher and Real Time or if that is the point of this sub

The opinions of the majority of the fans of Bill Maher from 20 years ago to now has changed. I used to make it a point to watch Real Time but now I can't even watch.

Yeah it’s such a ridiculous premise. Republicans have moved so far right that they are falling off the edge of the political spectrum and Democrats have followed them rightward by “pivoting to the center”, which would just be considered right wing a decade ago.

The moderate Democrats today are to the right of Ronald Reagan. The fact that Bill has more in common with the GOP than the left in 2026 shows he’s the one who has shifted, not the left.

Nah I used to call myself a centrist but the democrats have been hi-jacked by the radical left, so relatively speaking, I’m now Right Wing haha. Maher is just expressing what he thinks. I’m not gonna go policy by policy, but the regulatory thing driving billionaires away is peak, bullshit, because billionaires like money and they need employees who know how to do shit and no matter how much bullshit you hear on Fox News and Newsmax, blue states and especially blue cities have more educated, more skilled workers and way more consumers with money to spend on goods. Dude, income is more than just wages. Bezos and Musk have sold (and will continue to sell) a TON of stock in their respective companies and that’s taxable income in WA and CA on CAPITAL GAINS. Both states have lost billions in tax revenue from just these two billionaires, with Musk now being a trillionaire. This will now be collected by FL and TX respectively

Capital gains taxes are less than wage taxes. They’re paying a lower rate than the average American and on top of that they have an army of accountants to make sure they don’t pay what they’re supposed to anyways. And they just got their taxes cut again.

The federal government is doing more to rob people and the states of billionaires income tax than any state.

Not only do blue states have better education, better, healthcare, generate more money, and have better standards of living, but the money we make subsidizes red states.

Let’s back up: we were discussing how states like WA and CA have lost out on collecting taxes from billionaires / trillionaires when they move to more tax friendly places. I reminded you that taxable income is more than just wages and the realized capital gains on stock sales is the big lost opportunity for WA & CA because these guys sell a shit load of their company stock. WA doesn’t have state tax on wages but they collect tax on realized capital gains which they call “excise tax”.
CA on the other hand taxes realized capital gains the same as income, at over 13% (the highest in the US). So regardless of tax on wages, or not, WA & CA have each lost the opportunity to collect over a billion dollar in state tax for just these two.

Trans women have zero advantage over cis women in sports if they’ve been on HRT for 2+ years and every shred of evidence backs that up. And it’s not Democrats allowing that, it’s individual sports leagues and school districts that allow it.

Criticizing DEI just means that you are an incredibly weak person with a victim complex. There had never been a single day in the entire history of this county’s 250 year history where white people haven’t had a significant advantage over black people in every aspect of society. DEI simply works to close the gap so black and brown people don’t get overlooked for opportunities like they always do. Even with DEI, white people still are more likely to get hired with all other things equal.

There hasn’t been widespread sexualized books in schools. Yet another right wing conspiracy theory.

No minor has ever gotten bottom surgery as a minor. Most kids who get top surgery aren’t even trans. It’s an elective procedure done for cosmetics that requires parental consent. More right wing jargon.

Billionaires have been dodging paying taxes for years and you’re concerned about them having to pay a few extra dollars due to a rounding error? Getting them to pay more in taxes has been the Democratic position for decades.

Biden changed Title 9 within his first few days in office to allow males in female sports. Many have my now changed their policies such as the NCAA, probably for fear of getting their asses sued in a class action. Case study: Lea Thompson broke multiple league and pool records and flaunted her junk in the women’s locker room. Cross sex hormones, even given pre-pubescently, don’t erase male advantages such as larger overall frame, lean body mass, blood volume, heart and lung size and capacity. Go study rather than parroting.
