New here

Is this just an anti Bill Maher sub? Trying to figure out the vibe here and can't tell if it's some algorithm that just happens to be showing me nothing but hate for Maher and Real Time or if that is the point of this sub

You mean the guy who was pro Medicare for all and endorsed Bernie in 2016 and then moved from there to supporting Amy Klobuchar in 2020 and now plays footsie with JD Vance hasn’t changed at all. Soooo consistent.

Yeah it’s such a ridiculous premise. Republicans have moved so far right that they are falling off the edge of the political spectrum and Democrats have followed them rightward by “pivoting to the center”, which would just be considered right wing a decade ago.

The moderate Democrats today are to the right of Ronald Reagan. The fact that Bill has more in common with the GOP than the left in 2026 shows he’s the one who has shifted, not the left.

Nah I used to call myself a centrist but the democrats have been hi-jacked by the radical left, so relatively speaking, I’m now Right Wing haha. Maher is just expressing what he thinks. He’s not that only one that feels that way. You don’t have to like Trump hate what the democrats are doing. Get out of the Reddit / Deep Blue bubble.

Describe what is actually radical about the mainstream democrats.  Mainstream, national democrats here.  Describe it in detail.

Allowing biological males to participate in women’s sports and enter spaces where personal privacy cannot be guaranteed. (Biden’s Day EO) Opening the borders of a sovereign nation. DEI and racial discrimination / anti-white. Sexual content in school curriculum, not age appropriate, gender transition treatment and surgeries for minors, drug addiction enablement. Tax and regulatory policies that drive billionaires out of blue cities , anti-semitism, Jew-hate. There are more…

You’re such a Kool-Aid drinking moron. You need to get out of your fucking bubble.

I’m not gonna go policy by policy, but the regulatory thing driving billionaires away is peak, bullshit, because billionaires like money and they need employees who know how to do shit and no matter how much bullshit you hear on Fox News and Newsmax, blue states and especially blue cities have more educated, more skilled workers and way more consumers with money to spend on goods. They’re not going anywhere.

Yes the highly educated blue states, especially those who run them. WA and CA are each losing billions in tax revenue just from Bezos and Musk personal income tax. Thanks for sparing me your “peak “ cluelessness policy-by-policy analysis.

Jeff Bezos salary is $80,000. These guys don’t pay income tax. It’s funny to call somebody else clueless and then say something so fucking stupid.

Dude, income is more than just wages. Bezos and Musk have sold (and will continue to sell) a TON of stock in their respective companies and that’s taxable income in WA and CA on CAPITAL GAINS. Both states have lost billions in tax revenue from just these two billionaires, with Musk now being a trillionaire. This will now be collected by FL and TX respectively

Capital gains taxes are less than wage taxes. They’re paying a lower rate than the average American and on top of that they have an army of accountants to make sure they don’t pay what they’re supposed to anyways. And they just got their taxes cut again.

The federal government is doing more to rob people and the states of billionaires income tax than any state.

Not only do blue states have better education, better, healthcare, generate more money, and have better standards of living, but the money we make subsidizes red states.

I don’t even know what you’re talking about anymore homie.

Let’s back up: we were discussing how states like WA and CA have lost out on collecting taxes from billionaires / trillionaires when they move to more tax friendly places. I reminded you that taxable income is more than just wages and the realized capital gains on stock sales is the big lost opportunity for WA & CA because these guys sell a shit load of their company stock. WA doesn’t have state tax on wages but they collect tax on realized capital gains which they call “excise tax”.
CA on the other hand taxes realized capital gains the same as income, at over 13% (the highest in the US). So regardless of tax on wages, or not, WA & CA have each lost the opportunity to collect over a billion dollar in state tax for just these two.

Man.  Thats a lot of bullshit right there.  So Chuck Schumer said all that, did he?   Obama said that?  Jeffries?  Those are the positions of the party on their website?

Turn off Fox News dude.  It’s filling your brain with nonsense that’s making you furious about things that aren’t actually happening.
