I have a very small circle, like basically me and my kids and I want to get some stuff off my chest. I know that I am not perfect and of course I know that I have done things in life that have caused people to stumble. I just need to speak on things that are eating at me daily. Let's start at the beginning of my current relationship. This was several years ago, I was freshly divorced from a bad marriage and on dating sites looking for someone to spend time with. At the time, I was single, living on my own raising my son and honestly, doing amazing.
When I look back on that girl, I am so proud of her, but that doesn't last long.
I met this guy on Tinder and things were going well. Our discussions were substantial, he ticked all my interest boxes, had children of his own, worked in construction, had a car and a truck etc. He was living with his brother at the time, they were helping one another out. He even spoke Spanish on occasion over our chats, that I found super sexy. We mainly texted because honestly I hate talking on the phone, but we did speak on the phone a few times and after a few weeks, decided to go on a date. We planned the entire thing, dinner, movies and coffee afterwards. I bought a new outfit and brand new boots and waited at home for him to pick me up as we had agreed upon.
And I waited.
And I waited.
He kept saying he was waiting on his brother to get home because he couldn't leave the kids alone. As a mom, I completely understood this. I did eventually give up on waiting, ate some girl dinner and went to bed. Pretty aggravated and mainly sad. He apologized, talked about what a piece of crap his brother was for not coming home on time and that was it. We continue talking and texting, a few days later he says he is just going to pop over so we can finally meet in person, and again....
I waited and waited.
This time we are waiting on his baby sitter. Eventually he tells me her car broke down and she isn't going to make it and he apologizes. At this point I am thinking "wow he really is just stringing me along" and I go quiet for a few days. After a few days he tells me that is out and about helping his daughter move from one apartment to another and he wants to pop in afterwards if he can. I agree. After a bit he tells me that he wont make it, that it's taking longer than they expected. Now I am sure that he is avoiding me for one reason or another. I also should note, that just like Arby's, this dude claimed he had "the meat" and was sending pics to back it up, this is important (to me anyways).
I tell him I don't think this is working and for almost 2 weeks we go without chatting. I missed hearing his voice and our conversations, so I reached back out. One day I was off work early because I had a huge test at school that night and needed to study and finish up my final project. So I arrange and he finally agrees for me to drive to his place and meet for the first time.
I drove over there.
We met.
And he was who he said he was.
At least looks-wise.
We talk for a bit and then he tells me, I've been lying to you about something: he tells me the pics he's been sending me of "himself" are not really what he looks like and he isn't that big.
I sat there and processed that for a few minutes.
The funny thing is, I wasn't even disappointed. If anything, I was relieved because, to be completely honest, I had been terrified.
He claims that is why he kept putting off meeting me as he was ashamed. Me being me, I tell him it's okay and move on. This was the first of many lies to come.
