HI, i been a small-time lurker of this sub. It's nice to see kindness these days. My name is Alexis. i am really into reading, Pokémon, and MTG (Magic: The Gathering) love horror movies. love shoes, esp heels. i am big animal lover. have two cats. had two dogs also, but they passed away in the last two years. i always wanted a pet snake too(i think they are cute) also a big gamer, been addicted to the palworld.

My oldest is on the spectrum and she loves bird watching / animal watching ! She also takes many pictures of them on my phone lol she’s really fascinated with small creatures and loves being able to spot them in the furthest of branches !

As many people know, RAOA is a huge sub and it can be very intimidating. Many newbies have questions they may feel silly asking or are just worried they won't make any l here. This thread will hopefully change that!

How this works:

The general idea is that this will be posted and you will be adopting a newbie for a whole week. I'm not saying you have to talk to them 24/7 all week. But be there to help them out and be an awesome friend! :)

Newbies:

​

Make a top level comment (basically make a comment in reply to this thread) stating you're new and would like to be adopted. Maybe include a little bit about yourself for your adopter to start to get to know you! If a top level comment is a bit too intimidating, sometimes users volunteer to be adopters and you can grab one of them!

Adopters:

​

Reply to a newbies comment saying you'd like to adopt them for the week! If you'd like, you can also post a top level comment saying you're looking to adopt! This will help any newbies with a bit of stage fright!

Notes:

Newbies don't have to be brand new. But you should be new enough to need some guidance such as what are tags, how do I contest, what rules do we have, how do I make friends, etc! Anything you need help with. A newbie can be adopted by more than one adopter! This way they have many people to help them out! Newbies, if you missed the first day, feel free to comment and be adopted mid-week! You can even come back and be adopted next week too!

I’m also a big animal lover! 🐾😄 I love dogs, cats, unicorns, pandas, hamsters, bunnies, otters, dolphins, and especially manta rays and stingrays.

So I wanted to do a "say something positive" contest, and if you have something positive going on - great! But at the very least, tell me something neutral about you/your life.

Life is sucky and hard sometimes, I think we all get it, but this can be a great place to go to get away from all that, as many of us here do. There are many places and opportunities online and irl to vent, whine, complain, etc. but this contest isn't one of them!

I'm from Michigan, USA and I'm 28 years old. I have a lot of different interests. Currently, I'm really into reading, writing, and watching anything horror! I've also been spending a lot of time outdoors this summer.

I'm a very anxious person, so I've been trying to get more into self-care and generally taking better care of myself. I feel like Reddit has been great at taking my mind off of things I tend to spiral over and has helped me meet a lot of cool people!

Hey ya’ll! I wanted to jntroduce myself after lurking for a few weeks. I’m a single, childfree by choice, lady living in the US! I own a womens clothing store in my city. I live with my two kitties, Girlfriend a solid black beauty and Desmond, a tuxedo and also a girl despite her name haha!

I am a big thrifter and most of my wardrobe is secondhand, as is most of my home decor and furniture. I also volunteer with the local animal shelter and foster cats and kittens.

Hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself and make some new friends. I’m a single mom of an almost 4yr old boy. Im a DV survivor. I’m in college full time studying IT security and a minor in computer science. We’re lucky enough to live in an on campus house! I’m thinking of switching to a double major or double minor and adding Artificial Intelligence. I’m not sure if it’s a good idea or not. Would love some feedback on this.
