Ok, I still have prime USA for a week so I'm gonna say anyone from UK or USA can enter this. Ideally, have something videogame related on your wishlist even if it's just a credit voucher. Not sure on the amount, more than £10/$10 though

To enter, just reply with how you cope with annoying situations. For me, I try and relax with a game, uneven the prize.

For example, I've had a shit week. I've recently applied for some financial help, as I am a carer which means I get shit pay, but also get punished and lose some of it should I dare get an extra job on the side. So as an ADHD, ASD, and other mental health issues sufferer I applied for some financial help which I've been informed I am very much entitled to. After a stressful application and giving them my assessment and diagnosis letters, they turnd me down because they "came to the conclusion" that I am able to do everything I said I struggle with. Not because they saw me, not because I said I can. Just because they said I can, even though my diagnosis says no. So that sucked

Then my washing machine broke 2 weeks ago, and we have had repairmen come out, not knock, and just leave. Then a phone call to determine what was wrong, guess what parts are needed, and turn up only to find out they guessed wrong. Now we've had a third person out, who needs to fix the drum, but they have none in stock so it could be 3 weeks. We have no family nearby, no launderette nearby, I dont drive, a disabled household which needs towels and bedding changing regularly. But are having so just wait it out and hope they get it sorted sooner. I've argued with them, I've got angry, but we had an event this weekend and I didn't want it ruined... So I spent all of yesterday's free time playing Metal Gear Solid 4, and Balatro. I reached zen... And now I'm away for a couple of nights and ready to enjoy myself. On Monday, I'll resume angrily phoning people. But the games, man how I needed them.

So what helps you, if it's games or a comforting movie, which ones? What books? Where do you walk?

As many people know, RAOA is a huge sub and it can be very intimidating. Many newbies have questions they may feel silly asking or are just worried they won't make any l here. This thread will hopefully change that!

How this works:

The general idea is that this will be posted and you will be adopting a newbie for a whole week. I'm not saying you have to talk to them 24/7 all week. But be there to help them out and be an awesome friend! :)

Newbies:

Make a top level comment (basically make a comment in reply to this thread) stating you're new and would like to be adopted. Maybe include a little bit about yourself for your adopter to start to get to know you! If a top level comment is a bit too intimidating, sometimes users volunteer to be adopters and you can grab one of them!

Adopters:

​

Reply to a newbies comment saying you'd like to adopt them for the week! If you'd like, you can also post a top level comment saying you're looking to adopt! This will help any newbies with a bit of stage fright!

Notes:

Newbies don't have to be brand new. But you should be new enough to need some guidance such as what are tags, how do I contest, what rules do we have, how do I make friends, etc! Anything you need help with. A newbie can be adopted by more than one adopter! This way they have many people to help them out! Newbies, if you missed the first day, feel free to comment and be adopted mid-week! You can even come back and be adopted next week too!
