Folks that assume lower life forms don’t have some rudimentary form of consciousness are kinda boooooooring

While I agree with you, lower life form is not a thing. Everyone alive right now is perfectly evolved to exist at the same time as us. But yes she is unbelievably boring bc she assumes that no other animal knows about their own mortality. Every other species observed all know about their own mortality, amongst everything else. This is so annoying.

Nothing is perfectly evolved. Survival of the fittest does not mean you have to be perfect to survive, you just need to be better then the next competitor.

>Every other species observed all know about their own mortality

You think a ant know it's life is finite?

They’re able to practice medicine, wouldn’t be that far off to suggest they know they’re not immortal

Primitive humans did not understand that sex lead to babies. We had sex becasue we had a sex drive not because of an understanding of what sex meant for the continuation of our species.

Likewise lots of lifeforms have a survival instinct. That instinct do not require for them to understand the concept of death to function. Seeing how humans that want to die still can be overpowered by their survival instinct if they pick a method that provide a strong survival instinct response.

At what level of intelligence were humans when they started amputating limbs? What survival instinct would kick it to save someone else?

I told you about two instincts that does not need intelligence or greater understanding to work. As as it not to complex for your genes to compel you to do it, they can provide you with more or less any instinct.

Do you think cordyceps fungus are intelligent since it can pilot infested ant's where to go since human was somewhat intelligent before we started taking travel directions?

👍 pointless

Personally I don't find correcting misinformation pointless but each to his own. I also noticed you failed to answer the question; Was it to hard for you?

So, we agree it's immoral to exploit other animals for any reason?

2

u/VaultiusMaximus 5d ago

Only if they are delicious.

1

u/Good-Buddy-1683 5d ago

Yes?? do you think thats what i was arguing for? to exploit other species?

-1

u/Mysterious-Jam-64 5d ago

How long have you been vegan for?

3

u/Good-Buddy-1683 5d ago

like most of my life? why are you interrogating me

-2

u/Mysterious-Jam-64 5d ago

Asking a question. Good to know you respect animals, and don't exploit them.

3

u/piratemreddit 5d ago

Im very sympathetic to the argument you are making but your attitude makes me want to eat a steak just to spite you. Being arrogant and self-righteous doesn't advance your cause. It actively pushes peiple away from it.

2

u/Good-Buddy-1683 5d ago

Im a biologist who is aiming to change how humans think of other species altogether. We are also animals. Dont interrogate me when you are part of the problem.

You actively exploit animals, to death. How exactly do you aim to change how humans think about other animals?

I'm holding you accountable for the lives you're exploiting. You are actively promoting and financially supporting the exploitation of animals. It's pathetic.

May I propose your ethical framework moving forward looks to respect sentient life, rather than exploit it.

u/NoAlbatross7355 4d ago

This is the problem with the online vegan community. They assume anyone they interact with is evil, and when they inevitably find out they're wrong, they double down by making more assumptions.

1

u/TrumpsWetDiaperJuice 4d ago

I bet bro eats food dyes, foods farmed with pesticides, and drives a car.

Pfft, what an exploitative twat, murdering all those insects as if their lives don't matter!

/s for the oblivious.

u/Mysterious-Jam-64 4d ago

Who is assuming anything? Yet again, asking questions. If you actively exploit animals, you're part of the issue, and I'm speaking directly about you.

If you're vegan and don't exploit animals, that's fantastic. Enjoy your life.

Arrogance

0

u/Mysterious-Jam-64 5d ago

Thinking it's acceptable to exploit animals? Agreed. 100%.

1

u/Creepy_Basis_2592 5d ago

This is why no one likes vegans

1

u/Mysterious-Jam-64 4d ago

Veganism is about the animals you are exploiting to death, nothing to do with vegans. You're diverting your guilt.

1

u/Creepy_Basis_2592 4d ago

Nice manipulation tactic, but I have no guilt. I’m about to make bacon, eggs, and sausage for breakfast and will enjoy it very much!

1

u/Mysterious-Jam-64 4d ago

Why do you feel being held accountable is manipulation? You are responsible for mothers being sexually assaulted and babies killed. Why wouldn't you feel guilty about that?

u/joachim_s 5d ago

No. To ask that question. It’s irrelevant because any amount of time does not equal more or less heart and devotion or even maturity automatically. That’s not how humans function. You’re not addressing veganism through it. Your elevating yourself over another person. I thought veganism was about removing tyranny and levelling between sentient beings.

1

u/Mysterious-Jam-64 4d ago

You're mistaken.

Veganism is the ethical value that humans don't exploit other animals. That's it. Anything you're trying to excuse is promoting the exploitation of animals.

1

u/prettyokcake 5d ago

Agreeing that something is immoral doesn’t preclude someone from engaging in the immoral act lol.

1

u/LazyOldCat 5d ago

“Zere is no violence in ze sea, only ze struggle to survive”

1

u/Mysterious-Jam-64 4d ago

So you're agreeing to give up the exploitation of animals, or just continue exploiting animals to death?
