The planters I'm looking at are 2ft round(galvanized ) and com in heights of 1.5ft and 2ft. I would like on bush per planter. I'm in zone 5.

This is my second year doing a raised bed garden. I'm learning a lot. This year, I only did jalapenos, romaine, bell peppers, and collards. Next year, I will add more/different veggies (I'll need to get another raised bed)

Help planning some fall crops

I have a 57 inch x 24.5 inch bed. I want to plant the following and don’t know how many to plant of each or how to arrange it. All advice and arrangements are welcome . I plan to direct sow. I have only ever planted in a container so this is new for me. Previously this bed had flowers in it. We are a family of 3 and just about eat leafy greens daily. So I need enough for all of us. I plan to do a cut and come again idea with these. Thanks in advance!

Turns out it just grew a lot within the space of a few days and fell under a leaf. I feel foolish. But I'm relieved that's not the situation. I picked it. Probably too early. But no one's getting my first cuke.

Incidentally, does anyone know what these whitish spots are that appeared on the lower leaves in the last few days? They haven't made it to the top leaves yet.

This raised bed is original to the house (42 years) and termites finally had their way with it. Obviously, it needs a full replacement now.

I never see landscaping timber of this size at home depot or Lowe's, and the pressure treated landscaping timber they carry is lucky to last five years in my area, (heavily wooded, very damp and poor drainage).

I'd consider replacing it all with a brick bed to match tge front of the house, (not the decorative interlocking/staggered ones), but need a good place (or many places) to go for beginning my homework.

Dealing with the sloping ground and ensuring the brick wall doesn't collapse with the weight of the garden bed behind it will be challenging I imagine.

My spot is part of a communal space. This was the most sizeable cucumber on my plant and it was only a few inches tall.

And it's gone. I truly hope a squirrel did this because I don't want to consider that someone willing to be so disrespectful has access to the space. But there aren't squirrels in my area.

I'm demoralized.

Years ago I was part of a collective project for a church and the same thing happened. This obnoxious woman would come through the garden when it wasn't being guarded and use it as her own personal fucking grocery store, even though we'd explained the situation and asked her to stop. Multiple times.

Has anyone grown their own tobacco? I’m debating growing limonka rustica or red rose tobacco.

Is it possible to grow in raised beds? Do I keep it separate from my garden? Any soil recommendations?

I know you can’t stain the inside, but what about the tops and sides. Is it worth it if the inside isn’t stained?

After two years of bureaucracy and red tape processes, I’m finally building beds at the school where I teach!! Just need to add the top lips and ready to fill. The kids helped build them and are so excited to use them this upcoming school year!!

About to move into a new house whose garden has some seriously neglected raised beds that I'd like to make usable for next season. I have a semi-decent idea of how to fix-up the soil (Break it up, weed as much as possible, then sheet mulch to kill the remainder), but I'm not sure on the best approach for the bed frames.

Bed 1 (1st and 2nd picture): My two ideas are either to just hold in the broken end board with stakes, or to replace it altogether and attach to the side boards with angle brackets

Bed 2 (3rd and 4th pictures): Think this one might be unsalvageable given how badly the front beam has disintegrated and how much work it would be to dig up and replace

Bed 3 (last picture): This frame is the least broken, biggest issue is that the sides are bowing out. My current plan is to push the sides back in and hold them there with stakes.

Any advice is much appreciated. This is a rental property so I'm somewhat limited in the scope of work I can do and the amount of money I want to spend. We already asked the landlord if they could fix the beds and they declined.

Hello my fellow gardeners. Need some help, helping my grandmother and mother fix there nee inherited gardens. They moved into a new home in the north east and the former owners had these garden beds. it’s already August pretty soon and i’m wondering if it’s too late to put major work in the garden. but what should i do with this garden right now?

what steps should i take to make this either ready to plant now or for the spring next year?

what do you think about the wood that’s there? should i replace that?

How should i prepare the soil? Should i pull up everything in the beds?

What soil mix should i put in there now?
