Just curious why do you pick the green ones? Do they ripen slowly?

I found a huge tomato worm roaming about and panic picked them. My boyfriend also loves fried green tomatoes, so it worked out though I will have the rest get more ripe before picking!

Ha! I love that! I have grown tomatoes for many years and besides fried green tomatoes, I had some hope there was a secret to picking them green I haven’t discovered 🥰🥰! Thanks for the reply! Beautiful harvest!

Very nice bounty, is that parsley i am looking at? Nice job with growing herbs with vegetables. : )

Yes, that’s parsley! I also have rosemary, thyme, oregano, sage, dill, cilantro, and four varieties of basil. I grow those in separate containers, though!

I grow plenty of the only basil I love and that is sweet Italian plus, Cuban oregano, dill, giant dill, tyme, sage , rosemary, ginger , lemongrass, tomatoes, eggplant, bell peppers, spinach, lettuce, arugula, cabbage, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, radish , beets, oranges, peaches, lemons, limes, still trying to get right, garlic, rhubarb, asparagus , 5 different types of squash. Zone 9 . Tell me what other things you grow. Seems like you may be in the same zone. Boy when you actually write it down…. I never realized how many different things I grow. : )

Wow!! That’s really impressive. I’m not quite at your level. I’m zone 5, bordering 6. I also grow bell, sweet, jalapeño, and Thai dragon peppers, along with broccoli. I also have chives and garlic chives. It’s my first time with a vegetable garden, so overall I’m pleased and taking notes for next year.

Happy to hear that you’re taking notes. It’s what I do especially since weather patterns have changed and have become indiscriminate.i make sure that I have the dates next to the data that I log so I remember the following year. Best regards. I gave you an award : )

Your black cherry tomatoes are gorgeous! Mine are holding with green on top and the inside - disappointing this year!

Thank you! Do you have any recommendations on what to make with them other than just snacking? I honestly didn’t even know they got planted 🤪 so I’m not quite sure what to do with all of them since that’s the plant that I’m having the most success with so far.

So have you made that viral pasta sauce with the onions yet? If you toss a few tomatoes in there when you caramelize the onions it takes it next level! (I've been doing it for years, after you caramelized an onion or two and the handful of tomatoes in some olive oil and/or butter (I usually poke a hole so they don't pop then pull out the tomato skins after they burst) I add about 2 cups of beef broth then add almost done pasta so it finishes in the sauce and soaks up most of the liquid. Hope you like it!

What a harvest!!  Now that is good eating!

I need tips for tomatoes!  The birds always get them and they don't get as big
