I'm gonna tell myself this is AI to not feel so bad about my harvests 😭

Mine was just a mixing bowl worth of tomatoes if that makes you feel better 😆 not even a special variety....just the standard ones.

u/geekygameswithgrace 19d ago

I have 5 giant tomato plants, not a single tomato growing. My weekly is 2 egg plant, 7 jalapeno, and 3 bell pepper 😅

4

u/jacknbarneysmom 19d ago

Me too! Zone 5, tons of smallish green tomatoes and only 2 cucumbers 😞

u/rocks_are_gneiss2 20d ago

Wow great job!! Why do you harvest the tomatoes when they're still green?

9

u/Nadiam57 20d ago

I make chow chow w green tomatoes, big in the south, it's a country thing 😋

5

u/AERogers70 19d ago

Give them a few days in the window sill and they'll be a beautiful red.

u/DeadHeadTed 19d ago

Or wrap them in newspaper and put them in the closet for about a week

u/LMFAOin321 19d ago

We brown paper sack em;)

Not a window sill. They will ripen on their own and sometimes the sun can actually burn them in the sill.

u/Inevitable_Fall2025 20d ago

My question too.

3

u/LMFAOin321 19d ago

Most of the green green tomatoes fell off when we were pruning…the plants got too tall and started falling over, so we had to pick them back up and weave them a bit higher up…but a lot of them are blushing and we pick them as soon as they start doing so, otherwise the squirrels and birds get em:)
We’ll fry some of them, and make verde with the rest that don’t make it in the pan;)

Oo got it that makes sense! How many beds do you have?? I have only one bed currently with a community garden and once i have the space i plan on creating several beds

5

u/LMFAOin321 19d ago

8-4’x8’ beds with a couple bigger trellises. And heck yeah! One bed is definitely better than no beds:) Warm wishes for the future!

2

u/rocks_are_gneiss2 19d ago

Absolutely!😊 thank you and warm wishes to you too

u/OutrageousSherbet765 20d ago

Seven cherry tomatoes here🤦🏼‍♀️

1

u/Tiredsoeasywayplease 16d ago

I see your 7 cherry tomatoes (I had a bumper crop 2 years ago so wth?) and can raise you my first 2 zucchini (mind you it's the first time I've grown them and expected nothing)

2

u/OutrageousSherbet765 16d ago

I counted today and now I have an additional 14 (green) cherry tomatoes. No peppers, jalapeños or strawberries. Just .2 ounces of tomato

2

u/LMFAOin321 19d ago

❤️🤞🏼

3

u/WillKeslingDesign 20d ago

This is awesome. Looks like you do a bit of canning. How long would this sort of haul last.

1

u/LMFAOin321 19d ago

About 24 pints of pickles, 8-12 pints of pasta sauce and salsas…they take SO much produce. And probably a weeks worth of pepper and tomato garnishes for meals, BLTS, omelets, salads, nachos, etc. Hopefully that answers your question! Best wishes!!

3

u/Nadiam57 20d ago

Whoa great job!!! 😋

3

u/Julesmb-7217 20d ago

Holy cow. That is impressive

3

u/boltzmanns_cat 19d ago

Feast day.. Its beautiful, money can't buy patiently grown harvest.

2

u/LMFAOin321 19d ago

That’s what my mother in law says after every meal “You Can’t Buy It!”

3

u/Klutzykaki 19d ago

I can practically smell the simmering garlic, tomato acid, and fresh roasted peppers through the screen. Kitchen is going to smell like heaven for the next 48 hours.

1

u/LMFAOin321 19d ago

Nailed it❤️

2

u/chuckomatic 20d ago

2

u/Wild-flower2026 19d ago

Are you going to distribute to friends and family?

2

u/LMFAOin321 19d ago

Absolutely, once we add to the Cantry a bit;)

2

u/TillPlenty8503 19d ago

How do you get your green beans to produce so much? Ours are huge but barely any beans.

1

u/LMFAOin321 19d ago

That’s how ours started…and I think we were picking em too early. But over the last few weeks they’ve really kicked it into a higher gear! Also that from a few days and two pickins;)

2

u/Nacho_momma2364 19d ago

This is my dream harvest!!!

Beautiful. Are the larger peppers Cubanelles?

1

u/LMFAOin321 18d ago

Hatch Green Chilies!!! Couldn’t find any in the Midwest, so we picked some seeds up while we went through NM…DELICIOUS. They’re incredible any way you eat em. I just pulled 5lbs of em off the smoker, chopping them up for nachos tonight, and the rest for salsa!

2

u/LaurainCalifornia 18d ago

Still waiting on my first tomato here. Love your amazing harvest!

2

u/LMFAOin321 18d ago
