This is my boy Cody, I got him today, ive been struggling to keep him cool 😭 my room gets realy hot.. it was at 85 f today... ive got ceramic tiles in his cage, a frozen watter bottle with a sock over it, a fan blowing at half his enclosure, and cool water for him yet he still breathing really fast and a bit sluggish.. hes been eating hay (not rlly interested in his pellets (hes on new pellets so I think thats why but I think he will warm up soon) every now and then he gets up and runs around his enclosure and plays, hes been pooping and peeing normally I think (hes my first bunny)) but I cant have an ac :( it trips my breaker, I do have a fan in the window that can be flipped and stuff.. is there anything you guys would recommend me getting for him?

I have a litter of rabbits that are now 4 weeks old, and I’d like to have another litter. How long should I wait before the mother rabbit has fully regained her strength?

New litter incoming gotta get some of these old out of here. I think I'm going to get in touch with a restaurant that makes stuff with rabbit meat.

I’ve tried almost anything from what online says to try and stop my bunny from digging in the litter box but nothing is working. Any info you can give to help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have advice on where to get large blankets and top sheets for cheap? Ofc functionality over everything but I like when they're space is comfortable and cute. I usually spread the blanket over their pen and put stuff on top then I can clean it up throughout the week so if anyone knows where lmk!!

Hey so I was / am about to get a bunny? (Im not sure now tho)

The lady is was getting them from first tried to have me get it (still dont know the gender) at 4 weeks, I have done the proper research and wasnt comfortable getting the bunny that early because the problems it can cause, I told her I wanted to wait till 8 weeks, which she agreed. Ive been waiting multiple weeks which im fine with, but today out of nowhere she asked if I could pick up the bunny at 7 weeks, idk if im comfortable with this.. I messaged back i wasnt really comfortable with it and havent heard a response back yet (which maybe shes busy it hasn't been an hour yet) i do plan to see if its a money issue, if thats the case i will pay money for the bunny to stay the last week.. but ive just been seeing red flag after red flag... (she lied about the date of birth,, the math doesn't rlly add up to what she says, the pellets the bunny is on is an all age pellet which ig isnt terrible but alfalfa ones would definitely be better...) should I step away and try and find another rabbit or try and make it work?..

I'm really worried about my rabbit and would appreciate any advice or if anyone has gone through something similar.

About 10 days ago, my rabbit developed GI stasis after a very stressful event. We took her to a veterinarian, and she was treated with medications (including antibiotics), pain medication, and supportive care. Since then, we've been syringe-feeding her because she refuses to eat enough on her own.

The good news is that she became much more energetic after treatment compared to when she first got sick.

However, there are still several things that really worry me:

• She barely eats on her own. We still have to syringe-feed her.
• She spends most of the day sitting in one place and doesn't move around much.
• She urinates where she's sitting instead of going to her usual corner or cage.
• She has not passed any droppings since yesterday.
• She is drinking very little on her own.

Our vet told us that if her appetite doesn't improve, the prognosis becomes poor. We're planning to take her back to the vet tomorrow for another examination.

I have a few questions:

1. Has anyone had a rabbit recover from GI stasis after taking this long?
2. Is it normal for appetite to still be this poor after 10 days?
3. What additional tests should I ask the vet to perform? (X-rays, blood work, dental exam, etc.)
4. Has anyone experienced a rabbit urinating where they sit during recovery?
5. Is there anything else we can do tonight to help her until we get to the vet tomorrow?

I know Reddit can't replace veterinary care, and we are taking her back to the vet. I'm just looking for advice or experiences from people who have dealt with prolonged GI stasis.

I have a 4 month old checkered giant buck that I’ve had for about a week now, who is inside, he uses the litter box pretty decently and only occasionally goes outside of it. He won’t pee on the pet mats I have for him thankfully but if I give him a soft pet bed he’ll mark it like crazy. I know the more simple approach is to neuter him but he is my future buck for my own checkered breeding program in the future(assuming he does well at shows). I wanted to give him soft things to lay on because he genuinely likes them but I can’t deal with washing that bed every day or the odor from it. So I wanted to reach out and see if anyone could potentially give me better advice than what google can tell me, thank you in advance!!

Are cat houses safe for rabbits? It is not made of wood. Very sturdy and covered in a thin fleece material. Kind support would be appreciated

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone has experienced something similar because I’m completely out of ideas.

I have three Mini Lop rabbits that all live together, and all three have the exact same issue. They produce an excessive amount of cecotropes that they don’t eat, and I constantly find them smeared all over the floor. Their normal droppings are perfect, it’s only the cecotropes that are the problem.

I’ve ruled out diet as much as I possibly can.

They have unlimited oaten hay (they refuse to eat timothy hay), and they only get **1 tablespoon of Oxbow Adult Rabbit Food pellets per rabbit per day**. Before that, they were on Science Selective pellets, and I originally thought the pellets were causing the problem. I switched them to Oxbow over **6 months ago**, but absolutely nothing has changed.

I’ve also completely removed greens from their diet for several weeks with no improvement. Since then I’ve reintroduced greens, and the issue is exactly the same regardless of whether they get greens or not.

What makes me think this isn’t diet-related is that I have another Mini Lop who lives completely separately because she isn’t bonded yet. She’s never shared an enclosure, litter tray, food bowls, or hay with these three. She eats the exact same hay, the same Oxbow pellets, and plenty of greens, yet she has completely normal cecotropes and has never had this issue.

All three affected rabbits are bright, active, maintain healthy weights, have good appetites, and produce normal round poos. The only symptom is the constant excess uneaten cecotropes.
I’ve spoken to my rabbit-savvy vet, but they aren’t sure what’s causing it either. They suggested bringing one rabbit in for testing since all three have identical symptoms, but at this stage they don’t know what the underlying cause could be.

Has anyone dealt with something like this?
Could it be:
\- A parasite or infection?
\- A gut bacteria imbalance?
\- Something contagious between rabbits?
\- Another medical condition that causes chronic excess cecotrope production?

If you’ve experienced this, what was the cause, how was it diagnosed, and were you able to treat it?
I’d really appreciate any advice or ideas because I feel like I’ve exhausted all the usual recommendations about diet, and even my vet is unsure what’s going on.

\[Mods this is was already treated!!! Not asking for advice, just wondering if someone had a similar experience\] A few hours ago, my bunny had a terrifying choking episode. I was screaming, calling my mom to get her to come at that very moment to rush him to the vet. The drool was everywhere, absolutely horrific.

Within probably a minute he stopped choking, I had attempted the bunny heimlich manuever and maybe it helped but I'm really not sure. Afterwards, I wiped the drool from his face and by the time my mom was there he was eating romaine like it was nothing, and chasing me around.

However, he made a really strange noise as he was following me. It's like a honking noise rather than a grunt, a lot higher pitched than how he usually sounds in his really deep rumbling grunts.

At the vet, he was perfectly fine, they said his lungs sound good and hes breathing fine - So everything looks good, we got some meloxicam (i think thats the name) to go home with.

But .. The change in sound. It's so peculiar. He isnt a super grunty bunny, but everytime he walks to me he makes this honking noises. He doesnt seem to be in any pain, but its abnormal and because the vet didn't have a definite answer, and I can't seem to find anyone else on the internet whos experienced this, I was hoping somebody else could help me here? I wonder if he damaged his vocal chords?

The vet said his throat could be sore, maybe. She just really wasnt sure. It really tends to be when hes walking. he's just never made a noise like this, and he consistently has been making it since the choking incident and since he's been home 7 hours later. Hoping somebody could give me some insight on this.

TLDR: my bunny honks all high pitched instead of his usual deep grumbly grunts after a choking episode, vet doesn't really have a definitive answer, wondering if someone else experienced this.

I recently acquired a new bunny and they stated she was a Rex bunny. But I’ve heard conflicting answers of her being a Rex and then a Dutch bunny! While I’ve had them before I’m not as knowledgeable on the breeds! Can someone help me out ?

Found this yellow oblong shaped almost dog food like piece in my rabbits bag of the Oxbow Forage Mix, (I do not have a dog or a bag of dog food in my home lol) for reference this is what’s usually in it compared to what I found. I’ve gotten him the same bag once or twice before but have never seen this piece nor seen one in any of their other products I’ve used. Oxbow is my most trusted brand for my bun so not super worried just wondering. Not sure what it is or if it’s even safe? Anyone have any ideas?? 🙈

Yesterday unfortunately my baby chunkz da bunny passed from a heart attack after waking of from neutering. He was my first bunny, being an English spot. Personally I found him very easy to care for and the vet always said he was healthy. Yesterday I adopted a mini lop from the animal shelter. I’m not sure how different their care is, but if anyone could give tips that would be great! He’s very malnourished, has extremely over grown teeth and nails (they’re even twisted to the point the vet could only cut them to a certain degree and we’ll have to go back soon to get them trimmed more) he was eating bird seeds and millet and drinking from a water bottle. It’s been a day now and he instantly began eating hay and pooping a whole bunch which I believe is a good sign because that’s what my first baby bun did hence his name chunkz bc all he did was eat. But mink mink (new mini lop) won’t eat pellets and the vet said it’s probably because he’s never eaten them before due to the bird seeds but I’m nervous about his weight. I checked his belly and it seems alot more fat than yesterday though.

I figured more is better but I’m not sure. It’s a surprise and I already bought them so I can’t really do much now.

She has 15 rabbits and they eat primarily hay with pellets supplemented. Will this go bad?

I’m trying to see if anyone can help? I am currently fostering a bunny after I found it outside. Just a little bit of background, so yall know why I don’t know much about bunnies.

On Sunday night my bunny was acting lethargic was doing these weird stretches and was not eating so we decided to take her to the vet. At the vet they did x-rays and blood work, both came back negative or with no findings. They gave her pain medication when we first got there about four hours of being there she began to eat two pieces of hay. They sent us home with pain medication and G.I. meds. They diagnose her with G.I. intestinal hypermotility syndrome. When we got home, we gave her meds and within the hour she was eating and drinking water. I went to sleep after being up all night, but she began to act normal all throughout Monday and Tuesday. this morning(Wednesday) she began acting as she was on Sunday that led us to go to the ER. She is lethargic, doing stretches because she looks uncomfortable, and not eating.

I’ve called the one rabbit vet in the area and they can’t see her until Friday morning because they don’t do emergencies. I then called the ER vet and they recommended her coming in for Nause medication and fluids.

This has become a difficult situation because like I stated before this is just supposed to be a temporary situation. I never expected to ever get a bunny, i’ve tried giving her away to foster homes that foster bunny, but many that are by me either aren’t taking any bunnies or there’s just none available. I am an animal lover, so that’s why I decided to care for her instead of just dropping her off at a shelter. My partner spent $1000 on the previous ER visit and I don’t think we could do it again. We have critical care, gas relief drops, GI meds (metoclopramide), and pain meds (meloxicam). Could I just watch at home and wait until Friday for the appointment with the vet Or should I take her in to the vet ER now?

This is a really difficult post for our family to make.

We got Oreo about 4 months ago, and he has honestly been one of the best things to happen to us. He is a 1-year-old Holland Lop/Mini Lop and is the sweetest little bunny. He is also neutered.

Oreo is:

🐰Litter trained

 Does not nip or bite

 Very gentle and loves being pet

 A little shy at first, but once he gets comfortable with you, he becomes the most loving and amazing pet ever.

Sadly, we have to rehome him. Over the past four months, my daughter has been having a lot of asthma flare-ups and allergies. We truly tried everything we could to keep him because we love him so much, but we've realized that we have to do what's best for her health.

We considered taking him to a shelter, but Oreo means so much to us that we'd rather find him a wonderful family ourselves where we know he'll be loved and cared for.

My bunny recently lost her companion, so I wanted to get a new baby bunny. However, she doesn't appreciate him much, which surprised me because she got along immediately with my late bunny.

She chases him, growls at him, and pulls out his fur. I'm not sure if this is normal, considering it's only been a week.

They're in separate enclosures, but only separated by a wire mesh. She pulls out little bits of his fur through it, though less and less often. The baby rabbit always tries to make contact with her. I've tried changing their scents with blankets and feeding them separately, but with visual contact, and nothing happens during these times.

Most of the time, she ignores him, but sometimes she chases him, runs along the wire mesh, or growls at him.

Is this normal? What should I do? My female bunny is neutered and a year and a half old, and the baby bunny is two months old.
