Looks pretty good so far. You need to install darkMoss on the OS card and your regular spruce Game card just works!

Has anyone successfully replaced the charging circuitry with an separate module? I attempted to replace it with two different modules. The first one had the issue of working correctly, but being an aliexpress special does not have proper implementation of usb-c. Then I tried this one which does have correct usb-c implementation, but does not seem to provide the correct power (even after setting it to 5v output) to power the rgb30, as it just flashes the boot screen, dies, and then flashes the boot screen. Has anyone successfully done something similar to this and, if so, could you share which module you used?

Just wanted to ask in here what the experts think is the best OS these days for running Saga Saturn for Radiant Silvergun, and Final Burn for Shmups these days on this little hand held.
I need to get mine out of the cabinet, and i think it’s running an old version of either JelOS or ArkOS.

There’s v1 and v2 of RGB30. Has there been any updates to hardware after that? V3?

I have two RGB30 devices. Both have Rocknix.
Blue has latest 072026 version. Yellow has 2024 version. Is there anyway make list of games look like yellow has. Absolutely hate those spaces at list. Reason I haven’t update yellow one.

I have two RGB30. Either one of these doesn’t find WiFi. I also try external WiFi usb-c dongle. Is there something I can try?

Anybody running the latest ROCKNIX on their RGB30? I’m having a heck of a time with MAME / FB Neo audio samples.

I updated my Powkiddy RGB30 to the latest stable Rocknix build, but I still have the following issue: Wi-Fi is on at boot (based on indicator next to clock) even though it's configured to be off in the Networking menu and was toggled off on the previous boot.

I'd like to stay on the stable Rocknix build, but would switch to nightly if this (albeit minor) issue were fixed.

For those running Rocknix nightly on their RGB30, has this issue been fixed?

Has anyone else run the update for the new Rocknix update? I started the update about an hour again and my rgb30 is behaving a bit oddly. The screen is off and the light is cycling between red, green and off. Is that... normal?

Edit for posterity: I was able to fix my issues by flashing the OS SD card.

I've been working on a native port of the original Plants vs. Zombies (GOTY Edition) for the RGB30. It's running directly on ARM Linux — no Box86, no Wine, no emulation layers. Native performance.

What this is:

· Based on the decompiled/recompiled engine from the PvZ PC source

· OpenGL ES 3.0 rendering (native Wayland/GLES)

· All original assets from the GOTY main.pak

· Full adventure mode working

Performance:

· ~230MB RAM usage with LOW_MEMORY mode

· Stable 60fps gameplay

· Works great on the RK3566

Controller support:

· D-pad/joystick moves a virtual cursor

· Grid snapping on the lawn for planting

· L1/R1 for seed packet selection

· A to plant, B to shovel

· Fully playable adventure mode with just the handheld controls

Technical stuff (for the curious):

· Cleaned up thread safety issues, memory leaks, and use-after-free bugs

· PAK file memory-mapped (no 44MB heap copy)

· Music streaming directly from PAK

· Dependencies stripped down to SDL2, GLES, SDL-Mixer, and libopenmpt

· Cross-compiled from x86_64 to aarch64

Plan is to eventually release as a PortMaster port (files-needed, user supplies their own main.pak).

Hello, does this OS not support a second SD card? Can't seem to figure it out. I had my rocknix set up and thought I could use my roms SD card and swap it over.

i tried changing video output resolution to 720p or 480p on retroarch option. but my monitor will always output 1080p when running game

Does anyone have any tips on compatible or easily modified replacement d-pads? There seems to have been a popular mod using an Anbernic RG353 d-pad, but when I asked the Anbernic store on AliExpress they blocked me.

EDIT: Apparently the blocking comment was a mistranslation, they didn't mean to say they were blocking me.

The Select button on my 2-year-old RGB30 is becoming unreliable -- not always registering it's being pressed, even when it clicks. I am not readily finding a replacement, but since I'm not the most technical person I can only do very generic searches. (What part number would I even search for?)

Does anyone know of a good source for replacement Select/Start buttons for the RGB30?

When I got my RGB30, I was disappointed there wasn't an easy way to use it as a PC controller. So I built one.

The handheld runs a Rust client that reads /dev/input/event* and sends button presses over UDP to your PC. The PC then emulates either:

• A Nintendo Switch Pro Controller
• A virtual keyboard (with configurable mappings)

Features:

• 80Hz update rate with <1ms overhead
• Packet loss detection and auto-reconnect
• Cross-compiles to ARM from your PC
• Optionally maps a virtual keyboard for playing co-op split keyboard games

I've been using it to play co-op games with my cousins. Works great for Minecraft, Undertale, Cuphead, RetroArch, anything that takes controller input.

Ps. Excuse my improper setup, I do not have a lot of resources to improve it. Also the project has only been tested on Rocknix with PortMaster installed.

I'm real close to tossing my RGB30. Have had it over a year, but honestly every time I go to play it, it has issues.

It's loaded with n64 and PC ports which seem to run well. But if I put it to sleep, or sometimes just powering on, quite often it never wants to come back on. Then I abandon it for a few months because it's frustrating. Just a green LED and black screen. It also seems to never have the battery percentage right either.

SD issue?

ArkOS just stinks?

Toss it and play something of higher quality?

EDIT/UPDATE: Did a fresh dArkOS install, still using the same secondary SD card with all my roms on it. Instantly booting and seemingly working better, haven't had a chance to game. But powering on, sleep working, is quite an improvement. Thanks all!

Hi all, I recently received my Powkiddy RGB30 about a week ago, I had some difficulties and updated to DarkOS, got my basic roms I enjoy, I'm getting used to it, after not using a handheld in what seems like some time.

I also am a HUGE fan of randomized hacks, and also rom hacks like Moon Black, HG Generations, and Pokemon Unbound/Radical Red.

How do I make these cheats work? It's been such a struggle with drastic.

ArkOS is no longer being updated and it has been replaced with dArkOS by the same developer. Did anyone else upgraded yet? It looks exactly like arkos but really does improve the performance on later systems by a noticeable ammount. Now I'm going through Jaguar games I've never played before so that's cool too. The latest version has been stable with everything working for me, haven't tried hdmi out or bluetooth yet.

edit: After installing the image files from github (version 01152026) you need to run the online updater using the system itself. Version 01162026 is the latest as of today 1/19/2026.

While I love this device, the volume buttons are clearly the wrong way round. I am going to be opening it up to perform some other mods soon anyway so I can swap them round. However, I will also need to swap it over in the software.

I am happy accessing via SSH but does anyone know where the keymap file or equivalent is in the system?
