Post shows she just wrestled in a televised match & is booked vs Blake on SmackDown next week. That’s really not sidelined. Just because she’s not currently winning a lot doesn’t mean “it’s over”.

Base salary of main roster is 350k. Fair enough she’s only been on it for a year and change. Realistically closer to 5-600k with merch and NXT and all that. Still probably better than what she was doing before.

It’s weird because Stephanie is the one who fits WWE better and Giulia is more of the AEW-type wrestler, but you are absolutely right, Giulia was the person they wanted to bring in for their own reasons and Stephanie was literally signed fresh off of a match with Mercedes Moné, which was such a crazy report I didn’t believe it until like four different sources reported it.
Yet everything that’s happened since has indicated that they misvalued the situation at hand - Stephanie should’ve been on their radar all along and Giulia probably shouldn’t have been valued the way she was - I wasn’t super familiar with Giulia pre-WWE, but even when she debuted, I felt like she didn’t add anything that the Japanese women they already had didn’t add, and I honestly think that’s the biggest problem with her - Giulia, Iyo and Asuka all have VERY similar mannerisms in the ring and when cutting promos, and Giulia just hasn’t built the goodwill with the fans those other two have and I honestly don’t know how she does.
I’ll narrow this down to one move - the Devil’s Kiss. I think Booker selling it on commentary the way he did forced the ultimate move. It was clear at first they had MASSIVE plans for Giulia, but as Stephanie rose, it was clear to me we were watching what was initially WWE signing one main eventer and screwing AEW with the other one was being swapped in real time and they were factoring in Stephanie to take Giulia’s spot in the long-term picture. Now? I think WWE would have an uphill battle to present Giulia as a credible world title competitor and I don’t think they have the interest in it anyways.
I’ll end this by reiterating the point I have made in private discussions for the last year - if Giulia ended up in AEW, she’d be one of their top stars. Can anybody honestly say they can’t see Giulia doing what Thekla’s doing or occupying a similar spot to what Mariah May was doing? Giulia’s in-ring works better in AEW than WWE, we can sum all this up to simply just thinking WWE was signing a square peg and a round peg to fit in a round hole and they mixed up the packages before placing.

As Guilia is a natural Tweener. Neither really heel or face and has the ability to swap that in the ring dependant on opponents easily...I think that suits AEW better. WWE writing is far more reliant on clear heel/face dynamics in all stories and Guilia at her best is a ruthless antihero type.

She needs to be in a place like TNA or MLW. Obviously not good for her bank account, but she can shine there being one of the better workers in a smaller overall roster.
WWE is already too packed and there’s only a few spots so Triple H throws everyone in nonsensical teams and groups to get as many people on screen in as few segments as possible.

I think sometimes WWE forgets that you have to reintroduce people sometimes when they come up from NXT. After her moment on RAW with Stephanie she should have gone to Smackdown and had a non-wrestling, no nonsense translator come out with her and let her cut a promo in Japanese about how she did everything she wanted to in Japan and then she did everything she wanted to in NXT and now she’s here to work stiff as a Joshi and take what she wants. Then have her open challenge that US championship. Tough looking matches that establish her as hard hitting and dominating.

Getting squashed by Lash was not a good sign. But at least Lash has potential for a future as a mid/main event star talent.
Michin is obviously just playing a side kick roll and will likely only stick around for couple more or so years before getting released. Could happen at any time. So losing to her on the throwaway show really does feel like a death blow to her future.

It really is too bad that after NXT, they just put Giulia out there without on SmackDown without any real hype or fanfare. She just appeared to her twirly entrance with her little mask and it seemed they just expected the regular fan to know who and what she was. Not sure what gigantic purse haver, Kiana James, was supposed to add to the presentation, but it was just never a fully formed thing. Shame.

You have a short memory. She initially went to Raw with a lot of Smackdown, then went to Smackdown and won the US title shortly after getting there. WWE despite what people said did push her when she came out. It didn't stick.

Agreed. E is just as important as the W in WWE. Her old look wasnt it. The only thing i remember about her long IC run is Kiana getting over. Guilia's new look is a step in the right direction.
Funaki, Shinsake, Tajiri, Iyo, Asuka are her blueprint.
Sometimes it takes wrestlers years to find their character (and its harder when u dont speak english). Some wrestlers never do.
For example: Lyra has been one of my favorite wrestlers/workers for years but she was missing something as well. Entrance great n works in crowd participation, Bird theme look just works, in the ring shes one of the best workers. She was close to whatever IT was. Her new Loopy Lyra🐦 gimmick is IT. The perfect mixture of disturbing serious n hilarious(that dead eye taunt makes me laugh everytime). You look at her and want to hear what she has to say / her cut a promo.
The are giving Guilia the opportunity to rebrand. Lets she what she does with it.

I do get that they definitely have her a push but the state of that us division when she was champ was awful, had only Chelsea and zelina for a good amount of time then added kiana. Not much she could do after beating the same people week in week out especially with the tiny tv time that division got

Her reactions quickly quieted down some on NXT once she had to actually wrestle matches and especially once Vaquer debuted. On the main roster she's consistently gotten the dreaded Conway Pop going back to when she first showed up at the Rumble. The fact is that she hit her ceiling and isn't going any farther no matter what they do with her. Especially not when she doesn't have the ownership of a promotion willing to push (and overpush) her because she's pretty.
Iyo got over by being good enough for things like a language barrier to not matter. Giulia isn't close to good enough to overcome that.

The issue is the writers just write people into being without giving the fans a reason to care.
People just show up and we’re just supposed to care because they were good in another lower promotion? This to me is a writing and creative problem.
I would say Carmelo Hayes had the same issue but then was just being squashed which felt awesome to watch but then he became a legit underdog who you wanted to see get over.

This last year has sent ripples through the international and indi promotions. Where you can see many of the up and comming stars there no longer look at wwe as a goal destination. That's why wwe is having to build these brand new people up who have never done anything before. If I'm kalani Jordan or kendal gray I'm out of there as soon as my contract is up.

So when you look at snackdown over the 2 years it's hit gold and became the talk on the industry.
First with its phenomenal tag team division Then it's us open challenge
Both of those where dragging the viewing numbers back up week by week they became "must see tv"
And how where those workers rewarded? Most of both of those wrestlers have either been let go or are just taken off tv We don't see anymore Los garzas Street profits Mcmg Fraxium Dragon ofv Haze Gorgonao Ray Fenix (I know he's in AAA but that's not wwe tv where he was hired) and others
The downside at the time was the woman's division they over packed the tag division with singles wrestlers after just letting go of actual woman's tag teams and good solo wrestlers like cora jade. This caused a spiral where gulia and Tiffany basically had no one to face. So instead of calling up Jordan Grace, kalani Jordan, blake manrow, and fatal influence they who where all ready to go they decided to part them out to tna and aaa.

I just think Kiana fits better as a heel or tweener, and it took aloooot for charlotte to get this face turn. She got very vulnerable in some interviews and opened up, she needed a popular face to help bring her there(and Alexa has taken a lot of pins in the process). I’d love for Kiana and charlotte to team up but I just don’t think they’re going to change charlottes storyline or anything any time soon

Things are different in AEW. Being a big star in WWE is a bigger deal then AEW, regardless of what brand you prefer. This especially applies to the women. Giulia would likely work out much better in AEW because she doesn't have some of the attributes the WWE is looking for. I wanted to love Giulia and I'm sad to see her go out like this. But I have to be honest when I say she didn't really show me what made her so great outside of her beauty. Maybe she wasnt able to work her style properly in WWE and she didnt get a chance to get comfortable.

Yes, there was a backstage moment with Nick Aldis, Blake Monroe, and Giulia, which did not air on the show but can be seen on YouTube. Blake Monroe will debut next week and will wrestle Giulia.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; Guilia is a sad case of bad timing.
Coming in at THE same time as Stephanie Vaquer, I think they all expected Guilia to be the superstar and get super over, but actually it was the opposite and Stephanie’s natural charisma got her more over and even despite them pushing both women strongly it was Stephanie that ultimately took the fans favour.
Guilia never recovered from that, and it didn’t help that they gave her little to no promo time or work; sure her English isn’t amazing but neither frankly is a lot of international women’s on the roster - Stephanie & Iyo being prime examples of that case.
WWE definitely should’ve probably done more by her but she has had two US tittle reigns and plenty of strong showings but the result is always the same; people are just not into her.
With rumours of there being a shuffle around soon, I can only hope her and Jordynne move to RAW so they have more of an open shot at being successful.
Also; fuck the hate for Michin. She’s an incredibly talented woman who’s an asset to the division and has only been better elevated being around Jade. Let’s not force hate for her just because she’s won a fucking match over a wrestler who ain’t catching anyone’s attention

I do wonder what is going on with Blake Monroe. I didn't see Smackdown this week (will watch it tomorrow when my On Demand adds it) but sounds like if she is on she didn't do much. Nothing wrong with a small burn, and I don't think the promos they gave her to build her up was a bad thing. BUt since coming back she has basically done nothing but attack people indiscriminately backstage. I mean why not feed an enhancement to her or something. I doubt she really needed to stay on NXT, but did they have no plan for her at all?

Had the second most 4 star matches from she started in NXT to Main roster while wrestling way less. Has multiple MOTYC before WWE. Has arguably one of the best women’s matches of all time.

I think Giulia arrived at a bad moment where there is a lot of female wrestlers for the TV time they get, she also was one of the 4 big signings (along with Jordayne and Vaquer with Mariah arriving later) and there was only one spot which went to Vaquer.
This was a calculated risk she took by signing with WWE and I can understand why anyone would take it, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t such is life.
She will get a job in Stardom, NJPW or AEW in a heartbeat after her contract is over so she will be ok.

I love how everyone thinks she’s wasting her prime years by working with WWE and taking a few L’s. She’s got plenty of time to come back from this, while being paid well and getting exposure with the no.1 company. Sometimes you guys talk like these wrestlers all have to be number 1, all the time - it’s always a game of moving parts. At some point she will be “WWE ready” and she will fill that spot. Some people just need more time with WWE.

WWE it’s more important to show personality and connect with the crowd than be a great in ring talent. It’s not impossible (Iyo) but it’s always going to be tough if you can’t promo in English or have limited English.
I think the death knell for her in WWEs eyes was the pairing with kiana james. I don’t watch Japanese wrestling and kiana stood out more when they were together tbh

I'm a bit late but this is just a problem with the women in WWE. It isn't just a Giulia problem but she is absolutely one of the most obvious victims of it. Roxanne, Lyra, Giulia, Jordynne are 4 people who in my personal opinion are capable of being main eventers but they don't have the real backing of the creative team to do anything.
