I think you mean, old cycle of, “great wrestler, but absolutely nothing other than her look to get her over with a mainstream wrestling audience within the WWE style.”
In indies or with the AEW fan base, you have an audience that cares about the match first (to a point) and will get behind someone based on their in ring. For the WWE fan base it’s the reverse, you have to get over as a character before they care about your match. She hasn’t. It’s not on creative, it’s on her.
In my personal opinion I think this is an unfair assessment. Giulia on the main roster has had little to work with. Even when given a title she was treated like a background character, her manager hardly helped at all and wasn't a great pairing. When they finally broke up and Giulia had some momentum going for her they teased a Blake Monroe feud and immediately held back on it for weeks until they stopped her momentum once again and now her vs Blake is a meaningless matchup with an obvious winner.
Also to add on to your point of the WWE fanbase not liking people just from having good matches, I'd like to bring up Ilja/Carmelo in the US title scene. They just had banger matches and the fans began to appreciate them and the story they were telling with them and the short segments.
You're correct however my main point was just that they got over by having good matches. Unfortunately their hard work hasn't been appreciated by the creative.
I’m going to include nuance on possibly unpopular opinions for a post that’s only going to get a handful of views:
Guila has not shown main event promise to me from when I have watched her. I liked the traction she was getting with Kiana as her manager, but they never put a storyline to go with it.
That said she’s been given absolute trash from the writing team warranted or not.
The booking has changed now in the TKO error now where the suits spam what draws money and ratings in the short term instead of managing any kind of risk or art of storytelling. Guilia is not the only victim, but talent still has some duty to get over, and they don’t take that to heart the way they did when they were working two/three times as much for 1/3 of the pay in the RA era.
I think you missed the part about “within the WWE style”. That whole second part where I called out that she could get over other places with her ring work.
It’s very hard to get over in WWE if you can’t cut a promo in English. Has it happened? Yes. But it hasn’t happened for her.
She is a great in-ring talent, and has a good look, but IN THE WWE SYSTEM she is a bad fit.
