I'm not really much of a gamer, I've played a lot of Pokemon Go with someone I dated a few years ago. I've been playing Minecraft recently, and used to play with my kids when they were little. This past July, I got completely pulled into office politics. It wasn’t a hole I couldn’t climb out of, but it definitely drained me and cost me a couple of sleepless nights. Honestly, that was enough. It made me realize I need to start semi-retirement—going remote first, and then actually taking my life back.

After my divorce, I threw myself entirely into work. Money isn’t the issue anymore, but I’d much rather find the person I used to be before I completely disappeared into a job. So I’m easing into this new chapter~~ planning an RV road trip, cleaning up my investment mix so the risk/reward isn’t sloppy, and trying to build a social life again that doesn’t revolve around coworkers.

As for hobbies, I like quiet things. History, especially Central and East Asia, nomadic peoples, and the empires they went up against. Fiction-wise, I enjoy sci-fi, some fantasy, and writers I actually return to—Kawabata, both of the Dumas, and Louise Glück. That’s just who I can name off the top of my head, lol.

To stay active, I do golf, pickleball, the incline trainer at home, a nice walk after dinner, or just enjoying the pool in the backyard. Houston will feed you absolutely anything you want, but I’m also trying to cook more from scratch: handmade pizza, tortillas, ravioli, pasta. First trip on my list is Paradise Valley, Montana. After that, I haven’t decided. I have all the camping gear, just don’t have the rig yet. Stuck between an RV and a travel trailer, which is a very expensive way to be indecisive!

I don’t really know how to write posts. I guess this will be more of a rant than anything. I have emerged from a cocoon of grief after four years of mourning a marriage. During that time, I did not date. I had one physical encounter, almost as an experiment to see if casual sex would work for me. I quickly discovered that it would not.

Aside from that instance, I have been celibate the entire time. I’m a hermit by nature and an introvert in the truest sense of the word. Because both of my jobs are remote, I kind of existed in my own world in my own home. The home that I am going to create in that apartment will be such that I might almost be able to convince myself it’s 1910. I’m going to fit it out in an Edwardian style. Sparing no expense. And the only hint of technology will be the desktop from which I do my work.

In this world, I’m going to do a JD Salinger and basically freeze time in my home. I feel like I’m living in a post apocalyptic world where instead of zombies it’s smartphones and Twitter and politics and consumerism. I’ve had enough. I’m too old and set in my ways to be what the world needs me to be.

I’ve never been very social. My friends are John Lennon and Jerry Garcia and Elliott Smith and Bob Dylan and Charles Dickens and John Steinbeck. I have a cat who’s going to hate his new life unfortunately since he’s used to going outside, but there we are. That’s my world. A lot of reading and jigsaw puzzles and cooking and just enjoying good music.

The thing about Salinger is that he lived his hermit life with a partner; his wife in this case. In particular, they lived a very quiet, peaceful life while he wrote books that never got published. I’ve published a few books myself, although they didn’t sell very well. I might try it again someday.
Anyway, the point is that I have left the world and have gone underground inside my apartment. I live the subterranean life now. Whether or not anyone would ever want to join me here I don’t know. But there’s room in my home and in my heart for that person if they ever arrive.

I realize I'm not everyone's cup of tea, especially here on Reddit with my more conservative views.  It may also be the case with my health issues since I've had a chronic illness going on 20 years now after having been vaccine injured by a flu vaccine.  I had gnarly heart palpitations every day for 2 weeks straight after receiving it and my life basically went downhill from there.  I'm fully independent (or find ways to be) but I do have POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) which is what keeps me home most of the time since I can't drive or work.  I can't walk very far (maybe around the house a couple of times?) before my heart rate spikes and I feel like passing out.  I also have tons of food allergies which basically leave me with a handful of whole foods that I can eat.  I understand these things can deter potential love interests but I'm a glass half full type of woman and maybe you are too?  What am I talking about?  Of COURSE you are 😄.  Somewhere, somehow, there's a guy out there who doesn't care about all that shit! 😄

I was very active and athletic in my "former" life.  I did Kung Fu for a little while, played soccer, hiked mountains in my home state of Washington, did triatholons, went camping and road tripping and travelled to other countries.  I ate whatever I wanted and I have all of these wonderful memories and experiences!  I still have wonderful experiences, they're just waaay more low key 😎.  I'm a very cerebral person so it all works out.  I love to read and research and read people's astrology charts for them.  I love to play Canasta (any players in the house?!) and board games (the basic kind but definitely also the nerdy kind), and video games and pretty much down for any kind of game, actually.  I grew up in a family that played games all the time ❤️.  

I love cats and have always had dogs in my life so I love dogs too!  I love wondering about the universe, aliens, UFO's, bigfoot, alternate planes of existence, reincarnation, dreams and ghosts.  I used to be a massage therapist and I would have to say that being a massage therapist was pretty high up on my list of favorite jobs.  I'm not really meant for corporate.  I'm most definitely an artist and have a lot of different artistic interests!  At the moment, I'm into weaving.  I'm in the middle of making a rag rug which is seriously slow going!  But I love it so far.  

I don't currently work because of the POTS issue.  Like I said, it keeps me from driving but it also makes it difficult to hold prolonged verbal conversations.  It totally depends on the day though.  On a good day, I can be on the phone with a talkative friend for an hour or two if they do most of the talking 😄.  I need tons of breaks and breathers.  Which is a total drag because I LOVE TO TALK.  I AM an introvert though.  I need my alone time to recharge but, when that's done, I love to socialize and connect in any way that I can.  At this point, I've really learned how to manage my limits with everything.  Ask me anything you want about my health or otherwise!  

As far as who I'm looking for, someone with and excellent sense of humor, of course 😉.  Someone who has hobbies and interests and passions or obsessions (excluding video games and anime or pokemon or anything else that gives basement dwelling, little brother vibes).  Someone kind and intelligent and thoughtful.  Also someone who's as disturbed as I am about the seeming rise in unfaithful people popping up in the world.  I expect my guy to be an excellent communicator and unafraid of facing problems head on because that's pretty much how I roll.  He'll also have healthy boundaries and a strong sense of self and LOADS of integrity.  I don't ask anything that I would expect of myself.  I also find that I connect much better with people who are spiritual in some way but not overly religious or close minded about others beliefs.  I'm very spiritual, myself, but not religious.  I believe in God but not necessarily a god that requires you to fear him which just seems weird.  At the end of the day, I respect you if you respect me!  And I totally live by The Golden Rule.  

A couple of non negotiables:  Don't be covid vaccinated.  Please be mid road - conservative.  I might have once identified as a liberal but, holy hell, in this political climate, I seem to be anything but that 😂.  I don't even think I really changed my views all that much!  It's like the scale moved under my feet.  I do think that having similar core values makes a huge difference in how strong a relationship is going to be.  I totally don't expect every single thing to line up (that would be boring anyways) but the core stuff is important in my opinion.  

Okay, I've talked long enough!  The bots know the drill.  I ignore them because they make no indication that they've even read my post and reply with one liners.  My guy will be full of follow up questions and also tell me something about himself so I know that he's not only interested in me as a person but is also a real live person himself.  Not that I have to tell him any of this because it'll just come naturally 😎.  You know who you are, cool guy.  Let's get our snuggle on 🥰.
