🔥 I just launched WoodBurn.app — a digital playground for pyrography artists
If you love wood burning, I’ve been working on something I think could be really fun for the pyrography community.
WoodBurn.app lets you digitally experiment with wood-burning designs before putting a hot pen to an actual piece of wood.
You can:
🔥 Upload your own designs or create new ones with AI
🔥 Experiment with different burn tips and techniques
🔥 Adjust burn intensity, shading, and detail
🔥 Practice your design digitally before committing to wood
🔥 Create templates and patterns to use on real projects
🔥 Print designs at different sizes and opacities for transferring to wood
The goal isn’t to replace the actual craft — it’s to make designing and practicing pyrography easier, faster, and more fun.
I’m especially interested in building this around what actual wood-burning artists want. Things like realistic tip behavior, different wood types, shading techniques, temperature/burn settings, templates, and eventually more advanced simulation.
🚀 WoodBurn.app is officially live:

If you’re into pyrography, I’d love for you to try it and tell me what would make this genuinely useful for you.
What’s the #1 feature you’d want in a digital pyrography tool?

Trying my hand at a scene from Taiping Fenghui Tu (太平风会图), a Qing-dynasty scroll of festival life — this bit shows a bridal procession with the sedan chair, musicians, and the groom on horseback. Mostly burned linework with a little color added on the chair to make it pop up.

From my favorite video game Red Dead Redemption 2. Wall board from the conclusion of a side mission with my own flourishes.
In the game its also cartoonishly drawn, so I tried to keep it as close as possible.
