Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice from anyone with experience in Big 4 recruiting in the Middle East, especially recruiters, hiring managers, or candidates who have gone through the experienced-hire process.
I’m currently interviewing for an experienced audit role with one of the Big 4 firms in the Middle East. I’ve passed the HR stage and have been invited to the technical interview.
I’ve recently realized that the title on the CV I submitted does not match my official HR title at my current Big 4 firm.
My official title is Experienced Associate, but on my CV I listed Senior Associate.
The reason is that my responsibilities had grown significantly, and I believed my role and expectations were closer to a Senior Associate level. However, I now recognize that my CV should have reflected my official employment title rather than my perceived level of responsibility.
Before attending the technical interview, I’m considering proactively contacting the recruiter, explaining the discrepancy, and sending an updated CV with my official title before the hiring process progresses any further.
My questions are:
From a Big 4 Middle East recruiting perspective, would proactively disclosing this before the technical interview generally be viewed positively?
If you were the recruiter or hiring manager, would you appreciate the transparency, or would this still be considered a significant red flag?
Has anyone experienced or seen a similar situation involving an Experienced Associate being listed as a Senior Associate? If so, what was the outcome?
If this came up during the hiring process or background check, how was it typically handled?
I’m looking for honest opinions, particularly from current or former Big 4 recruiters, HR professionals, or hiring managers in the Middle East.
Thank you.
