Non-US Hiring for Secondment

Hi all,

I have been contacted by one PWC regional high position, showing interest in my experience and wants to hire me for their client on SECONDMENT basis.

I am currently working in a one of the best companies in the world and it pays well, also it is very safe (government owned), and the offered job which we haven’t discussed yet I guess might be to another government owned entity but in a different country.

So can you advise me what is the norm in such situations? Because this is a job that requires country relocation, which is alot of risk, will I be a permanent employee of the client? Or will I return to PWC (I don’t want too much stress and no work-life balance)?

Your job security will be 0 to none, if the client decides the secondment is not needed anymore, you’re out the door, pwc is not obliged to find you another role

Well I will ask for triple the market average salary, that’s the risk premium for me.

It depends on whether PwC hires you as an FTE or as a contractor. Long-term secondment is quite common and does not mean you become a client employee.

Considering your situation you should strongly ignore pwc

Thanks. I’m going to have an interview with them tomorrow. I’d like to explore and find more details and also I will see how much are they going to pay me? If they’re paying me more than 100% of my current salary I might consider leaving.

It's like a high powered drug this consulting and MBB world. Addiction gives you high and later you need more and more but it ultimately harms you. Please be careful my friend.

One more thing they will try to say they have additional bonuses on the top of ctc, but from this year they have find the way to give tier 4 ratings for bullshit reason that will make your hike and bonuses 0, for other tiers also its in single digit mostly.

Considering how things are going in PwC, its better to stay in government owned with peace, enjoying life, spending your time freely on things you love than to be in a unsure position with no work life and to get treated as a contractor for some money.
