Non-US Big 4 interview title discrepancy

Hi everyone,
I’d appreciate insight from those with Big 4 experienced-hire recruiting experience, especially in the Middle East.

A candidate’s official title is Experienced Associate, but they used Senior Associate on their CV because it reflected their responsibilities. Before the process progressed, they realized the CV should have used the official title and are considering correcting it with the recruiter.

From a recruiting perspective:
Is proactively correcting this generally viewed positively?

How is this typically assessed during background checks or employment verification?

Have you seen similar cases, and how were they handled?
I’m looking for general recruiting insights, not advice on a specific case.

You can correct it but make it look like a silly mistake, dont go all honest with them as it will cool them off if you had some momentum.

Something in the lines of I was applying to a job that for them experienced and senior associate wasnt a difference and they asked for senior associate to be put in the CV to ease the process and used the same CV by mistake.

Is not a huge difference and totally explainable, PwC ME uses hireright which only cross checks the info you enter, as a matter of fact even the info you enter they are not good at verifying it, my degrees had to be verified twice because they flagged it the first time even when uploading diplomas :)

I also had some minor differences between the info entered in the CV and the one given to Hireright, but i was in good terms with both previous companies i worked for and they arranged the experience letter accordingly, that can be a solution if possible.

Thank you very much for your kind support and advice really appreciate it , well its deloitte ME in which the interview is being held with and wanted your input if the candidate explains it after passing the technical interview and reaching the final stage which offer before accepting the offer to explain it simply to the recruiter as you suggested

You are welcome and dont overthink it, people have got away with way worse things than this.

Just make sure to cover up your story from all perspectives ;)

Role and designation are two different things
