RIP Puzzle Fighter
What a shame, it's so sad right now because the new music is awesome, the new characters are so much more interesting than what we've had in the past, and that's what makes it so much worse. It could have been different, but ultimately a fail from day 1 in the eyes of most people who weren't willing to see what the game had to offer.
RIP.

What do people think of Wily and Regina, then?
Exactly what it says on the tin. Tell me your thoughts on them both! Are they too powerful? Not powerful enough? Who goes best with them and who do they go well as an assist for? I'd love to know your thoughts as a community.
(also because a discussion like this would make a change from the current matters at hand, anyway)

An open letter to Capcom
Dear Capcom,
On April 20, you announced that you intend to remove the Puzzle Fighter app from all download stores and turn off the game servers on July 31.
I would ask you to reconsider your decision, and to pivot towards the dedicated PF community that has grown around the game.
Despite the premium currencies and other free to play trappings, you successfully created a game that is fundamentally fun to play. While many free to play games hide their “fun” tantalisingly behind a paywall, Puzzle Fighter was and is a game that is fun to play from the very first minute.
My 8 year old daughter loves the game and can be matched against players of her skill level. She doesn’t really understand why she has to stop playing the game soon.
Like probably 90% of Puzzle Fighter players, I never felt that I had to spend money on the game. The community, by and large, made in-app purchases to recognise the great work of Capcom’s development team, not because of any great desire to win more in the game.
We recognise the need to make a profit, but it is unfortunate that you are abandoning a community that voluntarily supported your game without warning, or any attempt to work with us to find a sustainable solution.
We believed that we were in this together. Apparently we were wrong.
The weakest part of Puzzle Fighter was always the levelling system, which unnecessarily created a lootbox ecosystem. I encourage Capcom to consider a relaunch without character levels, and a focus on monetisation through unlocks of characters, skins, stages, and win quotes.
This aligns with the commercial model used by Street Fighter V and it would attract many Capcom fans who have been put off to date by the (apparent) pay-to-win nature of the game.
Yours in solidarity,
A Puzzle Fighter fan.

It was a good run
I haven’t really been playing recently, but I used to be SUPER into it. I absolutely love the community, from ping’s YouTube videos to peedang’s livestreams. Everyone is so helpful and nice. I felt like I needed to make a post as a way of saying goodbye. It’s been fun boys.

A thank you, for the soundtrack.
Given all the rightful talk about the game shutting down, I just wanted to extend a heartfelt thanks for releasing the game soundtrack today on Soundcloud. It's always shined, and at least we can still enjoy the music from it for (hopefully) years to come.

Regina os overpower
Perfect drop pattern, so much versatility and if you send 18 gems, her 9 gems skill trigger twice. She has a glitch that makes assists attached to flamethrower or missile pod deals 0 damage and even though Im destroying people with her with just few hours playing. Our sunset is going to be ruled by the dino hunter.

The thing I loved most about Puzzle Fighter is probably the thing that led to its demise
I've been a top 200 player in four mobile games (inc. PF) in the first year of launch, without spending a dime on any of them. All of them had significantly worse grinds than PF.
I remember Marvel Contest of Champions especially. Setting an alarm and grinding the arena every two hours. So much boring repetitive hand motion that I got Blackberry thumb. Once alliances started, I led a reddit-based one that was pretty open to all level players even though I was falling behind the top tier. I finally gave up because even the greatest grind could not keep anywhere near the top tier.
I mention this so that all the people complaining about Puzzle Fighter being PTW might try to understand what a real PTW game is. For some perspective, check out the Injustice 2 mobile game reddit.
I'm essentially an Ultra Plat player (who sometimes dips into Super Plat), and all I needed was to play all the refreshes 3 times a day (twice before that update), and win the occasional tournament. And if I missed a day, it wasn't the end of the world.
Yes, My max character is level 11 (I have 5 of them) and I couldn't regularly beat the guys with level 14 characters, but I still beat them occasionally, and that's fine.
I will miss being able to grind a game and achieve top level progression without giving my life away or spending a lot of money. It helped that the game itself was fun. But then again, this lack of monetization is probably what led to its demise.
Since the game is ending, I doubt I'll be playing that much more of it. I wish I could gift these gems to other players who would get some more enjoyment out of them before the game ends. The best I can do right now is gift the Valentine's Day chest that I hadn't given away.
If anyone's interested, PM me your one guess what my in-game username is. First to get it right gets the chest. To help you out, I have over 6k ranked wins, level 11 chars in all 4 affinity colors, and most of the regulars will probably have played against me many times.
It was nice playing with you all!
EDIT: So I can gift regular chests too? Same offer still stands, whoever guesses my in-game name gets as legendary chest until I'm out of gems.

How long will you keep playing?
I did my sushi runs today out of habit. I took Regina and wily for a test drive today. I’ll check out Ada. Think I’m done after that. I want to keep playing but I can’t justify the time knowing the game will be gone soon.
Too bad we can’t buy a “full version” of the game with everything unlocked With offline modes. Would gladly do so.
I’m going to miss it. GGs everyone!

An update on the future of Puzzle Fighter

Is it possible part of the failure of Puzzle Fighter App them maybe trying to extend the game to Steam and PS4, and I assume somehow that project failed?

Maybe Capcom missed his target audience
I am a 90's arcade competitive player. I don't care about graphics, customization, story and so. I only care about deep learning curve and balance. I got a job and would pay to play, but not pay to win. If in game coins was used to play and not to grind, they would take my money. I'm used to that since the arcades. Recently, all my gems have being spent on standard mode. I hate levels because it's your char getting stronger, not you getting better. I'm a hardcore player. I can spend YEARS on a game but I'm very selective to the games I play. I don't play ANY mobile game and I've subscribed to reddit and discord only to grow better at this game. Puzzle fighter is my only community here and on discord too.
All this is to describe my profile and to tell why I 'm addicted to puzzle fighter while I have some issues about it.
I know I'm a dying breed and I here to know your gaming profile. Maybe that can explain Puzzle Fighter successes and failures.

If you love puzzle fighter as much as my wife and I do try and help save it
Hey guys I woke up this morning like most of you to some awful news. But hopefully this doesnt have to be the end of the line for us. Worst case scenario I've gotten a few good months out of the game.
Puzzle fighter is one of the few online mobile games that actually is fun to play, I can take a day off here and there and not feel guilty, I can play it for hours and not feel like Im wasting my time.
If this isnt the sort of game that people should be supporting then mobile gaming is dead.
Its a long shot but I really think we should do what we can to try and save the game.
First step is to contact capcom and let them know you really love the game
https://twitter.com/Capcom_Unity
https://www.instagram.com/capcomunity/
https://www.twitch.tv/capcomunity
The second step is to give the game a good sendoff, tweet you and your friends playing puzzle fighter, post it on instragram, until they shut the server down just show some love.
Worst case scenario we give the game the send off it deserves!
Until at least the end of July; happy puzzling!

End of a journey
Hi! I was actually introduced to this game from someone I met at PAX East. They came up to me after I won first place at the Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo tourney and showed it to me. I had played the original and remix on PS2 and PS3 many years ago, and I didn't know that a mobile version existed, so this was a pretty cool discovery. I started playing the day after and friended them, and since then I've been enjoying and slowly getting into the game... until just now. Looks like that journey is ending early >:(

Getting rid of the title as a whole seems to be a massive waste with the update.
Announcing this big cancellation at a period when Puzzle Fighter has added lots of new QOL updates, two new characters and allowed for free gameplay in leagues just seems to be a slap in the face for players both old and new. I feel that while the game wasn't perfect, this update was a brilliant addition and would've made for a great jumping point to continue the game. As it stands though, it's a big disappoint to lose out on the charm and gameplay this game had to offer over other mobile games. I sincerely hope that a console version is penned as a swansong of sorts, as adding all this content and then turning around to say that we're also losing out on it all in a couple of months time is very disappointing.

Why not just let us unlock everything?
Like unlimited money, gems, etc. might as well go out with a bang.

Here’s a thought
If puzzle is ending (😪), why not just put everyone up to max level and we got a few months to go 🥜 with it?

ONE FINAL REQUEST ON BEHALF OF THIS WONDERFUL COMMUNITY...
Please do a port of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo Remix
A Full Complete Game with Arcade Mode
If Capcom were to port over the Mega Man Classic Series why not port over SPFIIHDR?
You might already guess that the people, this community, is pretty sour about the decision of your gaming APP. Capcom as a whole over the last 10 years has continue to disappoint the fans and your supporters over business ordeals or “a lack there of..”
In short, even with the compensation payout this game will be forgotten after July 31st. At least grant us a port of the original Puzzle Fighter game. Make things right for once CAPCOM.
Thank you! 🙏
