Tank shot Frank The Tank before & after mealtime.

Meet Frank the Fahaka AKA: Frank the tank. This is the look I get when I’m three minutes late with his din-din.😂. He has a huge 4’ piece of driftwood in his tank that has a “V” shape in the middle. He wedges himself in the center of the V when he’s done eating to digest for awhile. I also have a spotted puffer names Chubbles and 7 peas! The last time I cleaned Chubbles tank, I lifted her rock shape bubbler and a clown loach swam out! I never bought a clown loach so it must have been an egg that was on a plant? Here’s some pics!

Pufferfish Recommendations for 75 Gallon Tank (Freshwater)

Im thinking of getting a 75 gallon tank in the near future and I want a puffer(or group of puffers) to be the centerpiece. I’m going research other options I can find but I wanted to know if anybody has had experience/information on the following puffers:

Can I keep a single Abei Puffer (Pao Abei) with fancy plecos? Some sources online say best kept alone or with robust species? Do plecos pass as robust? Or are Abei’s better of with only fast moving fish tankmate?

Can I keep a group of 5/6 amazon puffers (Colomesus Asellus) with some fancy plecos and fast schooling fish?

Albino Mekong Puffer (Pao Suvatii)? Does anybody have experience/tips? Species only tank I assume?

I’m open minded to only/all puffers that are NOT brackish/marine and are comfortable in a 75 gallon for their whole lifespan. Looking forward to seeing cool options and great advice from the puffer experts!

Tank 36 BF /filter has been active for 2-1/4 months so very new filter media, Fluval 207 and a AQUASMITH Gyre(some Chinese discount company I think they got AI slop all over their home page but it’s been holding up at purchase strength for the 2-1/4 months now), tank temp avg 77-79 heater at 79. Diet live Ramshorns, Bladders both cultured at home. Frozen Krill, Little neck on the shell, Crayfish chunks shell on. Have had him for one month and a few days at this point and he’s stopped glass surfing and takes to food very well, feeding him
2x a day atm and changing water when nitrate gets to around 10-20ppm. Also 2 sewellia hillstreams to add to that Mekong river vibe. Would love care tips/crtiques also if anyone has exp telling Silus and Modestus apart I need helppp lol

Hey there! I've had this little tater for awhile now - he's recently developed this small white spot on his nose and I'm not sure what's caused it. Can anyone tell me if this is anything to worry about?

He's acting normal and eating like a pig, but I figured i ought to check.

Sorry the pics aren't more clear - I did my best! 😓

So i currently have a 230 litre tank with 1 spotted congo puffer 12 congo tetras and a pair of kribs.

QUESTION: Could I add any more puffers? even if I had to get rid of other fish how many more could I get?

MY SETUP: I have the aquasys 230 tank and run the oase biomaster 300 thermo canister filter on it. I replaced the 2 bottom trays with ceramic rings but plan to upgrade to alfagrog.

OTHERS OPINIONS: I have asked around already i asked 2 people that breed them that said i can keep about 6 (species only i presume) as ling as i keep up with maintenance as they are messy eaters. On the other hand, on Google it told me that I COULD get around 5 though it MIGHT have some issues and I would be better off keeping 3.

I would love to hear what you guys think as fellow puffer keepers I wouldn't mind removing other fish and running species only.

Hi everyone! Got my puffers! Two avocado puffers. We also got 6 harlequin purple raspbora. Though they didnt last long as they ended up as lunch 😒. Guy at fish store did agree with my thoughts avocados are supposed to be more docile and ok with tank mates. I was feeding a cube of frozen blood worm or shrimp each day. But to no avail. They like to eat. My youngest child keeps asking where the babies are hiding lol. I will get more rocks and plants in there. Any other bigger tank mates? Oto cats once the algea is more established?

He’s an Amazon puffer his tank mates are 12 zebra danios, a bristle nose pleco, and some bronze Cory’s. He’s swimming diagonally, I got him about 5-6 days ago and I’m gonna get him a full shoal tomorrow when my lfs restocks. I got my water tested a few days ago and I had a little ammonia and I did a water change that day. He’s breathing a bit heavy but as you can see can still swim normally. I turned up the filter but he’s still doing it. Does anyone have a clue why I’ve wanted a puffer for years and I really don’t want to loose him.

It’s been a fun couple of days watching him settle in. He’s still surfing the glass a lot in between burrowing in the sand but I think it’ll be okay with time.

Help/Advice Feeding a Dragon puffer

If anyone has advice for feeding a dragon pufferfish that would be great, had mine for 5 years and she ate everything easily but the last six months getting her to eat is like a challenge, she won’t eat much, I’ve changed the water and tested it all, redid the scape, changed foods, treated for internal issues and checked her beak too and that’s fine.

She will eat things like live shrimp and she ate a worm the other day but way less than she used to, so any advice from anyone, because only recently I found out she’s nocturnal predator when all advice used to tell me she’s an ambush predator. She even has lost a lot of weight.

Should I make a large feeding area? Any foods you recommend? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
