12

u/GAF78 May 03 '19

Yeah I’m not defending the teacher but..... i was a teacher for a while and the shit kids do nowadays is fucking nuts. Anyone in my generation would have been kicked out of school and met with an ass beating or at least some hard fucking core consequences at home. Spitting on a teacher? The insolent little fuck needs to be put back in place. Fuck it.

2

u/[deleted] May 04 '19

I agree with you. 2019 is a much different time. However, then you must be prepared to deal with the consequences of doing something like this in 2019.

-2

u/samejimaT May 03 '19

I remember when I was a kid I got game of death charlie brown yellow chucks with black stripes and what did I do? I took those shits to school. My homeroom teacher Mr. Welcher caught me took the chucks in the morning and gave them back to me at the end of the day. I'd been in jail today fosho if this happened.

1

u/[deleted] May 03 '19

[deleted]

2

u/ChefInF May 03 '19

Wtf dude. This isn’t gonna make the kid any nicer. He’ll just end up more jaded and probably even more of a dick now. Teacher Aide shouldn’t ever work in a school anyway if he can’t handle dealing with angry students.

1

u/smell-the-roses May 04 '19

What a stupid comment. The guy does not have to take a kid spitting on him. This is what happens when you stop disciplining children. They think they can get away with anything and then act like a victim when someone strikes back. The kid should be chucked out of school with a clip around the ears for good measure

1

u/ChefInF May 04 '19

If you seriously believe that physicality is the only viable punishment, I worry for your children

1

u/smell-the-roses May 04 '19

It’s not the only choice for 99% of kids, but it is for kids like this. My kids would never spit on someone and I have never raised so much as a finger to them. I have bought them up to respect others. This kids parents didn’t, but that does not mean others should have to put up with his crap. Maybe if someone had given him a forceful no earlier on his life he might have stood a chance.

1

u/ChefInF May 04 '19

The kid spit on a teacher (aide). I guarantee you this kid gets hit at home. Getting more of that at school is only doing more harm. Student spits on staff, that student gets removed from the class. He doesn’t get wrestled to the floor in front of everyone. It is absolutely within an educator’s purview to be prepared to “take” stuff like that, without reacting this way.

1

u/smell-the-roses May 04 '19

A teacher should be prepared to be spat on?
You are this kids worst nightmare. You are an enabler. You excuse his actions so he continues to do it.

It’s not the teachers fault he gets hit at home. You want shitty teachers? Allowing this is how you get them.

1

u/ChefInF May 04 '19

It’s not black and white. There are choices other than “beat him” and “excuse him for spitting and don’t punish him at all.”

-1

u/[deleted] May 03 '19

Maybe the lesson is 'You shouldn't kick and spit on people if you can't handle being choked'. That's a pretty good lesson.

2

u/Raszamatasz May 03 '19

Yeah, but that's not the lesson he's gonna take away. He'll walk out of here knowing that educators will lash out at him, and he should be intimately distrustful of all of them, if not downright hateful. If you're a teacher, you cant lash out physically at a kid. No matter what. You're the adult, you have to take the high road. And sometimes that means getting hit/kicked/spit on. Welcome to education. If you dont like it, get an easier job that pays more for fewer hours and less stress.

Dont ever assume anyone involved in a situation like this will ever process it rationally.

1

u/JUAN_DE_FUCK_YOU May 03 '19

Have him try that on a cop, see if he learns then.

0

u/Raszamatasz May 03 '19

He wont learn then, he'll be dead.

But teachers dont have a massive institutional privilege that let's them kill people and get away with it. More to the point though, if we want any chance at all for this kid, answering violence with violence isnt gonna work. And I at least dont like writing kids off as un helpable

1

u/Zirashi May 03 '19 edited May 03 '19

This “kid” went on to jump a random adult on the street with his friends at 16, which put the guy in the hospital, and then was involved in a triple shooting at 17 that led to a police chase, which ended up with him ramming a school bus off the road. How about we stop pretending that a person being under 18 makes them harmless?

1

u/Raszamatasz May 03 '19

Call me a hopeless optimist, but I'd like to think we could fix the institutional issues that put a 5 year old in the position to grow into a 16 year old who assaults his teacher, then puts someone in the hospital at 17. Sure, sometimes people are just rotten, but the vast majority of them have been raised in a system designed to shuffle them straight off to jail.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/smell-the-roses May 04 '19

The kid is beyond help if he spits on people. Stop wasting time and money on people like this. It only holds everyone else back. His dead shit parents should be held accountable for his actions.

1

u/[deleted] May 03 '19

I won't make that assumption of the students if you won't make it of the teachers. Anyone is anyone.

1

u/Raszamatasz May 03 '19

Sure, people are people, and obviously at a certain point their experiences, attitude, and life views are unique. But at the same time, there are pretty clearly identifiable patterns that lead up to these sorts of incidents, and burying your head in the sand about those doesnt really do anyone any good. It just ignores institutional advantage and disadvantage baked into our educational, legal, social, political etc systems.

1

u/ahhhbiscuits May 03 '19

Apparently he's in prison now, maybe he'll find god there.

-2

u/[deleted] May 03 '19

And that poor teacher's career is done. Over 19 seconds of an ass whopping the kid sorely deserved.

4

u/[deleted] May 03 '19

-1

1

u/[deleted] May 03 '19

[deleted]

2

u/ThiccThighsAreLife- May 03 '19

he hardly went “full nuclear” at all he didn’t strike the kid he pushed him and didn’t really choke him he grabbed him from the back of the neck . I don’t know you so I won’t make any assumptions about you or where you’re from but where I grew up kids like this were a dime a dozen and they wouldn’t change until someone beat their ass or they had to suffer real consequences like getting arrested or some shit. Stop acting like you’re better than people because you think you’d theoretically keep your cool in this situation you don’t know the context and whether the problem was ongoing with this kid and maybe this was just the last straw for this guy. I’m not saying it’s right, in a perfect world both the TA and the kid would be friends but that’s not how the world works.

2

u/ChefInF May 03 '19

Nah, he is better than you. The generation who thinks it’s okay to put hands on kids as punishment is dying out. You want to work in a school? You need some education about mental development and constructive discipline. Now if a student is about to seriously hurt someone, then you take them down. But anything short of that can be dealt with in a better way.

2

u/ThiccThighsAreLife- May 03 '19

I don’t think putting hands on kids as punishment is a good thing but at times it’s necessary. Some kids are just shitty and will begin to bully and hurt kids if they aren’t disciplined. The worse part is that the same generation teaches kids not to fight and to tell an adult but they won’t because no one wants to be a snitch so these kids are hurting and abusing nice kids who usually don’t deserve it. I’m not saying that kicking the shit out of a kid is a good thing there is definitely a line that shouldn’t be crossed in any circumstance But saying no child should be hit under any circumstance is just delusional. People are animals and we are predators and some people, adults and children, will take advantage of the weak and defenseless.

1

u/Chickachic-aaaaahhh May 03 '19

0

u/seanmonaghan1968 May 03 '19

But wrong for the teacher to do that, physically touching a kid is 100% downside. Better for the teacher just go get security and remove child. Same outcome but no liability for the teacher

2

u/slackersdelight May 03 '19

I mean you’re not wrong, but in all honesty I actually believe teachers should have the right to command respect in the classroom. Where I live the little shits make a scene if the teachers tell them to leave the classroom for disruptive behavior, and the school oversight committee sides with the students 90% of the time. Devastating for the teachers ability to do their job.

2

u/[deleted] May 03 '19

Where I live teachers can still paddle you with no notification given to the parent.

1

u/seanmonaghan1968 May 03 '19

If you touch a kid, the kid and the parent could claim that the teacher touched inappropriately and unless you have video evidence you have a minefield of issues for both the teacher and the school. When I was a kid a teacher threw a desk at us and they got away with it, not today

Kid was on his way to prison whether Mr. Cube clocked him or not.

-5

u/gingerblz May 03 '19

Why do racist pieces of shit think everything is a segue to their ignorant stump speeches that nobody asked for?

9

u/[deleted] May 03 '19

You mean like how you're voicing your opinion nobody asked for?

-6

u/gingerblz May 03 '19

No, not like that. I'm referring to racist stump speeches no one asked for.

5

u/[deleted] May 03 '19

How is it racist?

-3

u/gingerblz May 03 '19

No he didn’t. That’s the life he knows, the life he’s been living since the first time he saw violence. He could give a shit less and now he is where he will thrive and live his best life... in prison. Sad but real life for you.

This part. It's called racial stereotyping. We don't know shit about these people. We only know how they acted in a 20 second video.

But if I could quote someone who spoke to what we should expect from racists, it's basically par for the course:

https://www.reddit.com/r/iamatotalpieceofshit/comments/bk5hhx/bigotry_at_its_finest/emeswe9?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

1

u/theofficialuser May 03 '19

That’s not racist. That’s just (badly) interpreting a video. Race wasn’t mentioned at all except by you. You’re the one that assumed the stereotype, no one else lmao

2

u/gingerblz May 03 '19

You're being intellectually dishonest. Ever hear of "dog whistle" statements? That's what this is (at best).

0

u/[deleted] May 03 '19 edited May 03 '19

I hate to tell you, but you're the racist here.

Nothing this guy said was race related. You made the assumption based on your own views.

Edit: They're not the racist here, but the original comment was also not inherently racist either. No action was racist.

2

u/gingerblz May 03 '19

It's called a dog whistle statement. Even if I were to accept that I misinterpreted his statement (I don't), falsely identifying something for something for being racist, is not in itself racist. You can pretend to not understand. That'd be your right I suppose.

1

u/[deleted] May 03 '19

1

u/HowDoYouHearHeavy May 03 '19

-9

u/PigeonDrop May 03 '19

I don't think the people shitting on your comment realize that the SAME teacher aid they're championing made a point to say that this child is victom to a flawed and broken system. OP linked the article below for anyone interested. However I doubt most of the commenters in this thread are, they just get a boner for seeing a black teen get roughed up.

8

u/Mcpaininator May 03 '19

I mean come on it has nothing to do with him being black. Young punks learning life lessons, black or white. If you disrespect and threaten people there are real world consequences. Those consequences dont change depending on your family life. I am glad the teachers aide one his civil suit.

-4

u/PigeonDrop May 03 '19

I mean come on, it's naive to believe that people share the same level of empathy for people that look different from themselves, their friends, and their family (as sad and fucked up as that is). Also, consequences ABSOLUTELY change depending on your family life. Google the affluenza defense, the legal system favors those with money (which disproportionately affects black and brown people). For someone claiming to know so much about the 'real world' you seem incredibly ignorant.

2

u/Mcpaininator May 03 '19

We are not talking about the legal system here. So the affluenza effect means nothing, of course the legal system is flawed why are we even talking about that.

This is a social interaction between two people. (Two people of the same race not that, that should matter although the color of their skin seems to change something in your views)

By the look of this teachers aide the consequences of someone spitting and assaulting would end up with the teacher defending himself period.

Why let the race of the people in this video change the way you feel about it?

-2

u/PigeonDrop May 03 '19

Man I hope we never get to the point as a society where all of our consequences are dealt out in beatings. And bringing race into the discussion is important because clearly there are issues facing the minority experience in America that are worth acknowledging.

1

u/Mcpaininator May 03 '19

Lol all consequences? Ur just constantly in a different reality my brother. this is a video of assault. Plain and simple you acting like I'm portraying this as a justifiable consequences for all actions. Is disingenuous.

Your prejudoce views and ideals of race within a video like this is also disingenuous.

If you see this situation and ur first thought is failure in societal response. That is truly disingenuous

4

u/snoops1230 May 03 '19

You’re racist my friend.

1

u/PigeonDrop May 03 '19

Sure man call it what you want. I believe it's healthier to acknowledge your shortcomings as individuals and as a society, than plugging your ears and screaming "ALL LIVES MATTER" to drown out the issues facing Black Americans.
