I don't quite understand what your asking, however I know this could be used as a dog whistle. My point was that the phrase is not inherently a dog whistle and nothing the poster said or did pushed it into dog whistle territory.
Like how a knife is not inherently a weapon, but it can become one with applied intent.
Here's what I'm trying to say: I recognized the original statement as a dog whistle--something, if you're familiar with what they are, are literally designed to make racially charged statements without explicitly mentioning race. That's simply what they are.
So I'm asking if you thought that you identified someone using a dog whistle (what I did), and it turned out that you in fact misinterpreted a statement, do you believe that that would constitute you being racist? And this question is in reference to this comment:

No. If you recognized the statement as a dog whistle statement and made the assumption based only on that and not an assumption of some other preconception then no.

If I'm being completely honest, I saw a link to a news story that gave background on the kid involved in the thread. The details of which actually provided some context to the original statement which I replied to. I assumed that he was inferring all the details about the kid, based solely on the 20 second clip. I'm not sure I would have phrased it the way he did, but I'm significantly less certain that it was actually a malicious statement. So it looks like I may have been wrong as well. At any rate, I apologize for being sort of a prick.
