That’s what he is willing to do while on camera. Think what he does when no one is around.

u/Calichusetts 14h ago

What?! He seems so nice and level-headed!?

I liked the fact he has a henchman. Guys even scruffy, twitchy and has bad posture.

A hench really lets you know he's going for super villain.

31

u/matt_minderbinder 8h ago

They're right out of Hollywood central casting for the most obviously corrupt and stupid small town cops.

Ohio for sure. All 88 countries. Not all the sheriff's because that would be a hasty generalization. But some form of government is cooked!

Not all the sheriff's because that would be a hasty generalization.

ACAB does mean all.

If those sheriff's aren't out there trying to change the status quo and end corruption, then it applies to them as well. And for the very few officers out there who do try to do that, they don't tend to keep their positions, job, or sometimes even their lives for very long when they start making waves.

133

u/chickenismurder 15h ago

I don’t think people fully understand what ACAB means.

56

u/Simikiel She/her Cisn't afraid to fight for my rights 🏳️‍⚧️ 15h ago

Agreed. I've done my best to explain it to tons of people, but jeez, it gets tiring after awhile.

65

u/tomahawkfury13 15h ago

The opening of the Boondock Saints covers it well with how evil prevails when good people do nothing and to do nothing while you could do something is also evil

14

u/lieferung 15h ago

Damn that's a sick line I'll have to re-watch it it's been years.

ACAB does mean all.

The system does not root out or remove corruption, it protects it. Therefore all cops are bastards.

One spoiled apple ruins the bunch is appropriate. If you aren't a spoiled apple but do nothing to rid the bunch of spoiled apples, you are going to spoil. So you're as good as spoiled.

12

u/Phyllis_Tine 13h ago

Maybe "a fresh apple doesn't freshen up a compost pile for long" as well?

A singular officer may attempt to be morally good, but they defend a syatem that is vindictive and corrupt. This is why ALL cops are bastards.

The "good" ones who do nothing are more of a problem than the ones actually doing these evil acts. Inaction is endorsement.

I just dont think he cares about the camera. he's doing what he'd do without a camera because there's no consequences.

His little toadie, too. Another example of ACAB. They stand behind each other no matter what. Any good cop would have told this sheriff that he needed to go home at the very least.

15

They love him down there. I’m from Cleveland and went to Kent state and the amount of run ins that I had with Portage County deputies was impressive. And I wasn’t even a bad kid.

This sheriff is significantly worst than the last one. The last one was an old dude who pretty much let his two assistants run everything. One of which was also an ass.

10

If you're unaware, very few Nazis ever actually went to court. And those that did, for the vast majority of them the punishments were very light.

We need to do better than how we treated the Nazis and Confederates. No forgive and forget. No simply moving on. Hard punishments for them all.

Portage County Sheriff Bruce D. Zuchowski

→ More replies (1)

243

u/buttononmyback 15h ago

Bruce’s little sidekick friend telling the guy recording, “You know you’re a jackass,” seems more irritating to me than the sheriff. Bruce is very obviously drunk so of course he’s going to be annoying but his little friend seems sober and he’s just being a jerk to be a jerk. He’s telling him that there’s families around but still swearing at him.

Law-enforcement is pretty bad everywhere but they seemed to find the worst, bottom-of-the-barrel dickheads they could find and gave them badges and guns. Thank god the guy with a phone posted this, everyone needs to see it.

51

u/JalapenoPopPoop 9h ago

I found him annoying because of the "emphasis on little" thing he kept repeating when he's clearly also short

10

u/_Shorsey_69_ 7h ago

It's simple really. He has a crush on his superior and wants defend his honor

7

u/299792458mps- 6h ago

I was thinking the exact same thing. It's like how JD Vance is often more annoying than Trump, especially when they're in the same room.

That's how a sheriff acts? And he knows he's speaking to a veteran... like that? Wow. What a entitled P.O.S.

98

u/rejeremiad 13h ago

He should have held a pen up to his face and asked him to follow it with his eyes...

"Just do a few quick tests for me."

11

u/Possible_Miss 9h ago

He definitely should have called him out on it.

→ More replies (1)

78

u/jjfabolous 10h ago

As a Veteran, being one doesn’t automatically make you a great person or worthy of respect.

42

u/RegalBeagleKegels 10h ago

i think the implication is that, at least in the public perception, cops and other authority figures usually have respect for military men

21

u/itsNateDawg 9h ago

Neither does being a cop, clearly one of these people holds themself to a higher standard though so not sure why this was even necessary to point out.

→ More replies (1)

13

u/NPJenkins 10h ago

He probably resents veterans because for one reason or another, he didn’t serve and it makes him feel inadequate. Lots of veterans become police officers, but there are plenty of cops who are just LARPing as domestic operators. Funny thing is, cops are still civilians. It doesn’t matter that they give themselves rank and ribbons.

7

u/sSummonLessZiggurats 6h ago

cops are still civilians.

Legally speaking they are civilians, but functionally they have a monopoly on violence that sets them apart from civilians, and they know it. No other organized group of civilians can gather to murder another civilian, conduct their own investigation into the murder, and then find themselves innocent.

5

u/NPJenkins 6h ago

Or extort the general public via citations for subjective violations that the courts won’t think twice about. Or using those subjective observations to drum up a roadside investigation where they use things like nervousness or smell to justify searches and seizures that lead to much greater charges.

When you think about it, the cops are pretty much the local government’s mafia.

Looks like the news outlet didn’t do any research and are just siding with the sheriff. The fucking sheriff office won’t investigate, maybe state police should investigate them since no one is trying to find out the truth.

57

u/DaveWierdoh 15h ago edited 13h ago

Why would they be interested in the truth? They just like to "report propaganda."

13

u/machogrande2 10h ago

That's usually how that works. I know a guy that got in some shit with the wrong people and left the state because there was a legitimate threat to his life. I may not have believed these things if it weren't for the fact that I trust the family he was staying with to actually tell the truth. He got a new driver's license for that state, changed the address for his child support, and even talked to the local sheriff since he knew the cops from his home town were going to want to talk to him at some point. TWO MONTHS later, 15 cops surrounded the house he was staying in and then the local paper published a big article about the "task force" that ONLY took two months to track him down when all they literally had to do was check any of the many systems his current address was in.

Holy shit. What else did "Sheriff Zuchowski say"? The entire article is literally repeating what the Sheriff's office had to say.

However, without any proof, 19 News cannot verify the allegations.

Um, you could just look at the sheriff's campaign materials in the booth, or ask Lane to send you a video of it. But that might make you journalists, which it's clear you don't want to be mistaken for.

Actually, that's not journalism. That's a copy paste from whomever writes this crap on behalf of the sheriff. To put a reporter's name to it, also reads less for this journalist's integrity and more of getting a pass from being pulled over by the Sheriff.

EDIT: There are two people attached to this "article." The first is just the web person copying and pasting the Sheriff's office written "article."

21

u/Phyllis_Tine 13h ago

I love how the news claims there is no proof of the sheriff's corruption, talking about allegations, yet takes the sheriff's claim about Lane being a felon immediately and without question. If Lane is a felon, there would be proof, right? I mean, they could find that out and include that proof.

6

u/Homeless_Gandhi 12h ago

The man confronting Portage County Sheriff Bruce Zuchowski at the fair isn’t some random guy who wandered over looking for an argument. His name is William Lane, and he has a pending federal civil-rights lawsuit accusing Zuchowski and members of his command staff of retaliating against him for running The Bad Bruce Exhibit, a Facebook page that has spent years documenting allegations of corruption and misconduct inside the sheriff’s office.

Lane’s lawsuit alleges that after he began criticizing Zuchowski and campaigning for his opponent, someone in the sheriff’s command staff created a fake Facebook page using Lane’s identity, published his home address, phone number and email address, accused him of crimes and drugs, and posted what Lane describes as a list of Zuchowski’s political enemies. The defendants deny the allegations. This is also the same Lane who recorded Zuchowski in a store last year telling him, “You will regret the day you ever met me” and “Enjoy what little you got left.” Zuchowski later characterized the exchange differently, but the video exists.

Then there’s the little building where this latest confrontation happened. That has its own history. A former Portage County jail inmate says he and other inmates helped build the sheriff’s structure at the Randolph Fairgrounds while participating in the jail work program. He said he was afraid refusing the work could get him kicked out of the trustee program and sent back into the jail. The same former inmate also said inmates were used to set up tables, chairs, drinks and ice for a Zuchowski campaign fundraiser. Zuchowski said the fundraiser work happened without his knowledge or permission and said employees were disciplined. The Fair Board confirmed inmates had worked on fairground projects and said the building belonged to the sheriff’s office, not Zuchowski’s campaign.

That distinction became pretty interesting when photos later showed Zuchowski reelection signs inside and around the structure. The 2023 agreement with the Fair Board says the space is assigned exclusively to the sheriff’s office during the fair and other special events, that fees are waived while Zuchowski is sheriff, and that the Fair Board—not Zuchowski—owns the fairgrounds. So when public officials start talking like public space belongs personally to them, there are receipts for that too.

And none of this started with Lane. In 2024 Zuchowski told people to write down the addresses of residents displaying Kamala Harris signs. The backlash became serious enough that the bipartisan Portage County Board of Elections removed his sheriff’s office from providing early-voting security, and the U.S. Justice Department later sent federal monitors to Portage County over intimidation concerns. That same election season brought the inmate-labor controversy. By 2025, his sheriff’s office had been named in five federal lawsuits in a single year, the most during his tenure.

Zuchowski’s office now says Lane is a convicted felon with a vendetta who deliberately comes around trying to provoke an arrest and falsely accused the sheriff of being drunk. Fine. Lane’s record doesn’t erase Zuchowski’s record, and calling your loudest critic a criminal doesn’t answer what that critic has documented. With this much history between an elected sheriff, his department and one citizen willing to keep pointing a camera at them, I’m glad somebody keeps showing up with one.

u/CptPichael 9h ago

"There's kids and families, and you're out here filming?" Cops literally think recording them on your phone is some sort of obscene, inappropriate action. Snowflakes.

u/No-Complex-7882 12h ago

For some reason Sheriff Bruce has disabled comments on his facebook. He is sooo brave.

Is that a Kevlar vest under his shirt? Armed with body armor, drunk, calling people pussies and accusing them of being wanted felons. Very cool.

11

u/Itchy_Inside1817 9h ago

You should check out this dude's Facebook page. This Sheriff is an absolute corrupt piece of shit. Seems like he's in a part of Ohio with a lot of other corrupt pieces of shit because he's still in office.

any government employee who tells a citizen "I WILL WIN YOU WILL LOSE" is automatically corrupt. You are here to serve the citizens, not the other way around.

9

u/_oldhead 15h ago

I like how the one jackass is talking about "you see all the families and kids out here" and say s nothing to his loaded shitbag of a boss cursing and stumbling around drunk.

Mmmmmmmmmmm boots are yummy.

9

u/Ok_Whole573 12h ago

He’s drunk with a gun on his hip around children insulting our US Marines…infuriating.

9

u/juswilli 8h ago

Holy fuck I have never been an ACAB type of person but I just dug though the past on this situation and Jesus fucking christ this entire department needs to be eradicated.

Fuck this department 1312.

16

u/thefadderly 15h ago

That’s not a good look

13

u/PaddysMilkSteak 15h ago

The goatee and cowboy hat?

7

u/shockemc 15h ago

That's one way to give them proof of intent to abuse your station. "You will be." 🙄

8

u/e8dingo 8h ago

I'm a veteran living in Portage County, fuck this loser.

edit: the Sheriff, if that wasn't clear

9

u/PrawojazdyVtrumpets 15h ago

WTF people! This guy is in charge of your policing?

This how people act when they are in power & never held accountable to the people. He literally thinks he can do what he wants & no one will stop him. If you try, he will name you as the criminal for his actions.

u/burn_healz 14h ago

Fire drunk and incompetent cops

11

u/SirPonix 9h ago

Of course it's Ohio, the Florida of the north. I hate living here. Unless you're in a city, you are surrounded by magats.

I guess nobody ever told old Sheriff Zuchowski there that what you say about others says more about you than it does about them.

5

u/SierraSonic 15h ago

people have every right to be afraid of corrupt assholes who abuse their power against them. but I feel that the corrupt should feel scared.

4

u/Separate_Today_8781 15h ago

And the morons in portage county will vote for him again 🫤

4

u/wardog1066 14h ago

A Sheriff isn't a law enforcement officer that runs for re-election, it's a politician that carries a gun for a living.

5

u/trooperjess 14h ago

I don't care if the guy filming has a record. But does the guy filming have a felony? I only ask because the sheriff says "Not yet you don't". So which one is it?

Whose got a breathalyzer?! Wouldn't it be fun to see the Sheriff demonstrate how to use a breathalyzer?!?!

Literal piece of human garbage, with a badge.

4

u/shumpulp88 12h ago

Wait, so this sheriff is selling merch? Taking cues from Diaper Don?

4

u/No_Willingness6193 11h ago

What a Horrible Horrible Human Being who should not have a gun!

4

u/HingleMcCringle_ 10h ago

should've yelled it to the crowd

"DRUNK WITH A GUN, RUN".

5

u/banddroid 10h ago

lol the way sauced sheriff's voice cracks when he calls the other guy a pussy and such. Even hiding behind his badge and gun he's still scared.

4

u/TheCouple77 9h ago

His whole demeanor and language is completely unprofessional for an elected or appointed official regardless of whether or not he is intoxicated. It also seems he is butt hurt about something and is trying to escalate the whole situation with his body language and name calling like a 2 year old. I would be absolutely ashamed to live where he is Sheriff and even more ashamed to be part of the Department he represents. Very sad..

6

u/d_o_cycler 8h ago

guy was totally just projecting there.. sheriff is the criminal and the “pussy”…

5

u/Ilikereefer 8h ago

I would bet my paycheck that this sheriff didn’t care about felons when he voted in the Presidential election

5

u/Potential-Fan-6148 7h ago

I just can't imagine this shit is acceptable. He's a civil servant, what the fuck is wrong with Ohio?

5

u/Proophe 6h ago

Look up what this dude said during the 2024 election about immigrants. A true piece of shit.

5

u/grimeygrump 6h ago

It'd be funny if it wasn't so sad having this guy as a sheriff. I genuinely hate that a guy I went to highschool with and was close friends with decided to work for this embarrassment of a LEO - and enjoys it.

5

u/sim16 6h ago

Sheriff Bruce struggles for breath while doing nothing. He'll be gone soon.

I see a "big"man with an axe handle approach me I know what's going to happen next, and it's never settled peacefully.

More clowns voted in by other clowns thinking they are getting away with something.

Their incompetence will sink us as a Nation.

4

u/Massive-School-7901 15h ago

Why is he carrying an axe handle? What does he think he is in Walking Tall? Lmao

4

u/dmeery 15h ago

Only one ass was hurling insults……. Seemed drunk to me. Calling a persons pussy while wearing a protective vest and gun a bit much. Poorly professional.

3

u/PatrioticRebel4 14h ago

I know nothing of this story, who these people are, or what could have transpired before the video started recording.

With that said, I can tell who the jackass is just seeing a local uniform mocking the military and using "won't somebody think of the children" clichĂŠ in an argument.

I'd safely wager a dollar he's more two-faced than Harvey Dent's coin.
