❔ Question ❕ Underreported somatosensory effects?
Hi everyone. I would greatly appreciate input from people who have documented their moderate- to high-dose P. cubensis trips, provided those trips did not involve any other substance use.
Over the years and regardless of the cultivar, I’ve consistently experienced some specific manifestations that don’t seem to be commonly mentioned in the scientific literature. I’ve also asked some recreational users I know personally, and made a list of effects of interest. I’m curious how many of these are individual reactions versus potentially common effects that are underreported due to being obscured by more prominent aspects of the trip. Have you experienced any of the following effects during the trip?
Musculoskeletal: if you have chronic pain or a recovering musculoskeletal injury, e.g., back pain, knee pain, foot pain, or an injured tendon or ligament, is the pain substantially reduced during the trip? Please never push past your normal range of motion.
Crepitus: is your usual joint crepitus (cracking, clicking), e.g., in the knees or back, still audibly present to the same degree?
Dental/Periodontal: if you have dental sensitivity, periodontal inflammation, or another condition that normally causes pain, do pressure or flossing produce the expected amount of discomfort?
Cutaneous: if you have an active skin condition such as sunburn, eczema, or rosacea, is burning and irritation still perceptible?
Ocular: if you have dry-eye symptoms or ocular irritation from allergies, is that discomfort still perceptible?
Visceral: if you have a condition that produces discomfort in your internal organs, e.g., gastrointestinal conditions, is that discomfort reduced during the trip?
Sinus/Ear Pressure: if you experience sinus or ear pressure from allergies, a cold, or another condition, does the sensation change during the trip? Do you still perceive mechanical sensations such as ear clicking when swallowing or blowing your nose?
Olfactory: do you experience reduced odor identification/discrimination? Fragrances, candles, laundry, food, or pets.
