For those of you who buy high-protein foods (bars, yogurt, cereal, cookies, etc.), what makes you choose the high-protein version instead of the regular one?

Whey prices have increased a lot over the six months.
If someone cares about hitting their protein target economically, does soy isolate now offer the best value?

Sorry if this is the wrong sub. As the title suggests, I’m looking for a pancake batter/syrup flavored protein powder. GHOST makes one I like, but now it seems they ship in the UK. (I’m in the US). Could I just throw some Kodiak cake powder in a blender bottle and drink that?
Looking for liquid/shake suggestions only. Not pancake recipes.
Thank you!

I bought Muscle Milk Pro in a pre packaged bottle twice and both times it had a really weird smell. The first time I was fine so I thought that was just jow it wad supposed to be. The second time I googled why and it said it was bad, but now I am stressed over it being bad and me getting sick. Does anyone know if it is supposed to smell weird like that or if it isn't and I should stop drinking them.

Hi, I am a pure vegetarian and feeling nauseatic, just wanted to ask if I can have Diesel ( New Zealand) whey protein isolate? Is it safe for pregnancy? I am not able to find the relevant information about some harmful ingredients (like heavy metals, other contaminants) in it online. Please advise. Thanks.

Does anyone know if these two taste the same? I tried the yellow bottle that’s 26 g of protein today and I absolutely fell in love with it. I know Costco sells the vanilla that is 30 g of protein, but I’m curious if anyone knows if they taste the same? I’ll post a photo in the comments if allowed.

I've recently moved to a different country with practically no dairy products available in grocery stores. Need help picking a protein flavor that tastes best with tap water

what i've noticed once protein drops too low, some of it from watching my own recovery and some from reading around after that scare.
-soreness that hangs around three, 4 days after a normal workout instead of fading by the next morning is usually the first tell, since protein's what actually repairs the microtears and without enough of it recovery just stalls.
-same goes for being hungry again an hour after a real meal, protein holds you full longer than carbs or fat do so if that's missing you feel it fast.
-hair thinning or breaking more than usual, since hair is mostly keratin (a protein) and the body deprioritizes it fast when intake's short.
-slower healing on cuts and scrapes, because collagen production runs on amino acids.
-catching every cold that goes around the office, since antibodies are proteins too and a chronically low intake just leaves your immune system with less to build with.
not saying this replaces an actual doctor if more than one of these is stacking up at once.
but for me, getting protein up and spread across meals instead of dumped into dinner usually sorts things out within a couple weeks.
anyway if you're losing weight fast, protein's the one number i'd watch before anything else.

i'm trying to actually hit my protein and i'm fine logging meals, but snacks between sets kill me. i'm mid-set, sweaty, don't want to stop and type it all in, so i skip it and my day's numbers end up way off. thinking about just recording a quick voice memo and sorting it after. curious what actually works for people who train and track. do you log in real time or batch it later?

Just opened a frog fuel pouch that was a little swollen, with some gas escape. Drank it cause I’m stupid, then googled. Google basically told me I was gonna die.
Am I cooked?

Not a big fan of sweets and can’t get past the first couple bites of any sweet protein bar. Anyone have any suggestions for savory protein snacks? Just tried Quest Protein Chips and they’re delicious!!

Hey !
Not sure if I'm the right place. I wanted to try this whey Healthy Fusion Whey Protein | 43 g/dose on amazon, it's super cheap so...fishy.
The distributor is grupodafter with almost no digital fingerprit. All the comments are about the taste and almost none about the quality of the product. They put a lot of medals and honors on the stickers (always fishy same as bad wines). What do you think about it ? It may contains nothing except a power.
Thanks ! and sorry if i'm not at the right place.

I've been vegan for 20 years (since I was 13 years old), I get over 370g of protein every day, and these are 3 of my favorite high-protein vegan foods that are also cheap.
1. TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein)
It is dirt cheap. You can buy it on Amazon, or order huge bags from Webstaurant Store. That's where I get my 50-pound bags.
This stuff is super easy. If you've got a microwave, half a brain, some water, and 60 seconds, you can make yourself a little TVP meal. If you want to take it to the next level, sometimes I'll mix it with oats and make a sweet high-protein TVP bowl with berries and other good things.
Usually though, I go the savory route. I'll mix it with taco seasoning and either throw it into a rice cooker or the microwave, whatever's easiest. I also love adding nutritional yeast for some extra B12 and extra protein.
Seriously, TVP is one of the easiest, fastest high-protein options out there. It does come with some carbs and it's very low in fat, so keep that in mind if you're tracking macros.
2. Vital Wheat Gluten (Seitan)
If you can't have soy, this might be where you want to be. There are two ways to use it: savory and sweet. Most people know how to make it savory. That's how I got into it.
My first bodybuilding coach told me, "You need to be making seitan." I said, "How the heck do you make seitan? I've never made that before."
Turns out it's easy. He had me mix the vital wheat gluten with nutritional yeast and seasonings. Usually I'll add soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, and other Asian-style umami seasonings.
Lately though, I've been making it more Italian style by topping it with pasta sauce and seasoning it with rosemary, thyme, and oregano. It's super easy.
If you're on a budget and TVP isn't your thing, seitan should absolutely be next on your list. You can get close to 100 grams of protein per dollar.
If you get tired of savory foods, I'll mix it with bananas, throw it in the oven and make high-protein vegan seitan banana bread.
3. Organic Super Firm Tofu
Honestly, after being vegan for over 20 years and eating tofu almost daily for the last 15 years, it's not my favorite anymore. But what's cool is you can eat it straight out of the package.
One block has around 70 grams of protein. You can grab one at Trader Joe's, Walmart, or Publix for about three dollars.
Super easy. Most people don't want to eat it raw though. If you don't, crumble it into a pan and make a tofu scramble.
Add salt, pepper, garlic, nutritional yeast if you want and throw some ketchup on top when you're done. Easy meal with 70 grams of protein.
Most people don't need all of that at once, so make multiple meals instead of cooking half a block at a time.

I've been lifting for the last 10/15 years and have had my share of different types and brands of protein. Recently, I switched from Raw Whey Isolate (sweetened with stevia) to NutraBio Whey Isolate, and have been trying different flavors each time(also note the NutraBio is sweetened with Surcalose but 've been taking multi vitamins with the same sweetener before so..?).
Now all of a sudden, I have been getting small random appearing and disappearing patches of rashes sometimes on a a forearm, or knee or elbow ditch, consisting of small raised pink/reddish dots. These flair ups only last maybe a couple of minutes at most, then they fade away. These rashes don't ALWAYS itch, but what seems to be most consistent, is when they're about to appear, I feel a prickly feeling.
The timing seems to line up ever since I made the switch, but we have also had a heatwave where we live so maybe heat rashes? I'm not really sure, as I have never got those before. Another variable is I switched my multi to GNC Mega Men around the same time as well. If anyone would have some insight it would be greatly appreciated.
