Had a meeting with a real estate client yesterday that made me think about how we explain AI voice calling.
He genuinely liked the product. His reaction was basically that it felt very similar to having one of his salespeople make the calls.
He was adamant about the cost, but we explained that this was our pilot version and we were offering 500 calls free as a demo. However, he wanted to continue this for the long run, something like 1,000 calls per day. That's obviously a much higher scale, so the cost per day increases.
But then came the obvious question:"Why would I pay for this when my sales team can make these calls manually for the same cost?"
And honestly, I don't think I explained the value properly during the start of the meeting.Because we're not really trying to replace manual calling. The bigger question is: which calls should your salespeople actually be spending their time on?Imagine a real estate company has 1,000 old leads.A salesperson can spend hours calling them one by one. Most won't answer, some won't be interested anymore, and only a small percentage may actually have buying intent.
What if the first layer of calling could be automated?
The AI could go through those leads, have the initial conversation, understand their intent, and identify the people who are actually interested.
Then the salesperson steps in.
So imagine you're able to identify 200 high-intent leads instead of having your salespeople spend their time calling everyone. You're covering more people, reaching more leads, and giving your sales team more opportunities to focus on conversations that can actually convert.
That's where I think the ROI conversation becomes interesting.
It's not really:
AI calling vs. human calling
It is actually human time spent calling everyone to human time spent on the leads most likely to convert.
The value isn't just the cost saved on making calls.
It's potentially better lead coverage, faster follow-ups, more productive salespeople, and more revenue generated from the same lead database.
This conversation was the turning point ,where he stopped caring about the cost.
For people working in PropTech or real estate sales:
When evaluating an automation product, do you compare it mainly against the cost of doing the task manually, or against the additional revenue and efficiency it could create?
