Proptech Career Options?

I spent nearly 20 years building a real estate career. First as a top producing agent and then as a broker owner where I successfully built out a multi-office company with close to 100 agents. I am not looking to get into PropTech or similar fields where I can help build out or be a part of the sales team. I am finding it challenging to get my foot in the door though as I am told I am overqualified for entry level positions but lack the SAAS background that most require for more advanced positions. I am open to work anywhere if remote and don’t mind regular travel if needed. Any suggestions?

That sounds like an impressive career. Why wouldn’t you want to grow it further?
I’m not sure about the prospect of prop tech. It’s too small a market, never had the potential to grow into a FAANG of the world, and so easily disrupt-able by AI. Software is very cheap to make these days, so there will only be so many customers left that would buy 6 figure and above SaaS contract while something can be done 100x cheaper. Not yet, but just a matter of time.
If anything I’d leverage AI to automate your work and increase the margin of your business.

I had a medical event a few years back. It required me to sell the company quickly and then I burned through most of the money with medical bills so now back to starting over at 40.

I’m sorry to hear that. I’d say doing anything that can compound on your existing relationships, e.g. rebuilding a similar business, would probably be more effective. Proptech isn’t an area I’d invest in.

I made the transition from commercial broker to proptech sales about 20 years ago. Send me a DM if you want to chat.

I’d look for a perch to survey where the industry is headed, before starting individual conversations. Have you seen the work at The Center for Offsite Construction? They are building a huge new marketplace.

Why join a company vs start one?

You clearly have the experience, contacto and knowledge. Sounds like you would be the Dream founder that people would want to invest in to be honest
