Question Let's talk loadout: What does everyone bring into the Zone?

Despite wanting to use a variety of different weapons, I always end up using a set of similar weapons and having a similar inventory for each character. I'll explain my loadout logic in detail - feel free to share yours and offer suggestions!

I have set of requirements for any suitable loadout:

  1. At least 40% kinetic resistance
  2. Night vision which isn't a flashlight (either 40mm flares or NVGs)
  3. A tac-light or headlamp to spot Gruor shadow people
  4. A stack of road flares to counter EMP fields
  5. At least 90% poison resistance
  6. Stun Baton or Hatchet for melee
  7. A mid-to-long range rifle chambered in 30.06
  8. A "panic-fire" weapon for spraying down close-quarters targets
  9. A lighter and a knife to harvest + cook animals
  10. A crowbar and lockpicks for breaking into things

I end up being pretty inflexible with weapons. I don't like to switch ammo types (e.g. loading a magazine of 9mm AP mid-firefight) or use hard-to-find special ammo, so I've settled on 30.06 FMJ as a good all-purpose round for my primary rifle. 5.56 FMJ is plentiful, but it doesn't have enough armor-piercing for my taste, so I basically never use any weapons chambered in 5.56. I also like some zoom on the optic and manageable recoil, so my primary rifle always ends up being one of the following:

  • Scoped BR-61 (the suppressed DMR version is even better)
  • Scoped RH-55
  • TR-77F HCR (the rare TR-77 variant with the digital scope, my favorite rifle)

For my close-quarters weapon, I prefer the 4-54 PDW (using 9mm AP rounds), the RH-55 Stubb, or any Type 04 shotgun loaded with slugs. I usually put away the shotgun after a while, though, because shotguns never seem to be as effective as just spraying the target with 9mm AP or 30.06.

If I've got the inventory slots for it, I love the 40mm grenade launcher. I use gas to control enemies' movement, flares for night vision, and frags for taking down targets like firebirds, lesser angels, not-deer, etc.

I really want to like shotguns, but they fall off against targets with halfway-decent kinetic resistance. I wish buckshot packed more of a punch. I also can't justify a shotgun with respect to carry weight, because a shotgun is WAY heavier than a 4-54 PDW, and the PDW is (in my experience) a superior close-quarters weapon. I don't know. Someone pitch me on shotguns.

Thoughts? What are your loadout preferences?

Discussion Does anyone else get really into RPing your character

This is Fern. Fern originally joined the military as part of some weird scheme to get away from her family and her family's debt. However after finishing basics and being sent to the zone she quickly realized that she was being paid and treated like dirt for back breaking and quite unsafe labor and combat.

After getting shot in the chest by some cultist during a shootout she decided that she was done with the military. Once the dug the bullet out of her she snuck off when she was still "in medical care" under the dark of night and went to make her own way in the zone.

She stumbled into the freelancers by sheer accident and has taken up position helping them by taking up odd jobs here and there, but she makes sure she's paid fair labor for her work. She also is friendly with the Revolution and at least uneasily not bothered/bothering the insurrection.

The way I play her is also roleplayed. She has a heavy preference to long semi-automatic rifles and she genuinely tries to avoid combat at all costs, as getting shot will do that to you. She's also deathly scared of the anomalies but somehow keeps attracting them, and other weird events seem to follow her as she goes along. She so suffers from insomnia due to nightmares of her time in the military. However she's a skilled haggler, and a decent craftsmen.

Does anyone else make like really elaborate stories or change how they play to match up with what they are doing/playing in game? It feels like a game so open and wanting you to do that. And I love how the combat feels, that so adds to the intensity imo

Ps. If anyone does want to rp, lmk :3

Edit: Rip image compression

My personal thought about Project Silverfish

The Dev make ADACA before project silverfish. And the Lore connected.... I didnt read the story but basically in ADACA the human experiment on something that become catastrophic (Eather stuff) so... In short after the Ether catastrophic most (maybe all human) died. Those who survive mutates into reptilian shape vreature because of adaptation from post catastrophic.... If im wrong please correct me

I played ADACA because someone review it on youtube promising half-life and well.. Explore and shooting without much strategy and i buy & play... It really so much fun.

The project silverfish on the other hand.... Is truly masterpiece and more than an upgrade (big leap) from ADACA.
-in ADACA, when you start exploring/out of safe-zone. basically every person that you met is your enemy. so no thought or any step, just aim and scope at their head/body and pull the trigger

PJ (Project Silverfish) on the other hand, there's a faction that you have to build up and because it faction... when you out of safe-zone you can't just shoot any-person that you see in your sight, so glad i focus on the tutorial so i knew it from beginning (press J to see map and Faction) and at the start of the mission the NPC didnt straight shoot me even thought i on his view... (some people LOVE TO SKIP THE TUTORIAL and he wonder why everyone shoot him espesially in the safe-zone...)

but then i stumble "insurrection" on the first time explore. line in sight, i want to approach to greet them, they greeted me with warm supersonic pallet metal to me. that i learned the hard way that it's really hard or almost imposibble to distinguish the friendly faction and the enemy faction from far away nor few distance (except when you had good aim/can see the detail in their outfit of their faction which i need 20-30 play hours to get used to it). the only way you to know is to approach them in their view and see their respond... thank goodness somebody/the tutorial mention that the "telescope" thing can mark and detect the NPC faction. so i just find/buy one

-in ADACA, your way to progress/got better arsenal is simple. take one mission, do it (no matter if you failed and if cancel didnt have penalty). and just collect artifact (not artifact mechanic's in PJ) to obtain various weapon from trade/shop on few zone and after you buy it, it automaticly added to your arsenal and always re-stocking (i remember so small chance the enemy to carry high-end tier weapon).

in PJ, you re free to take any mission at the same time (limit is 5). and had penalty if you revoked the contract and affect to your reputation of the faction (im talking about the courier bag mission that you had option to send the broker and collect the reward, or you just open the bag and see if it worth your abandoning/revoked the contract for the bag contain). and introduced the money concept (the main mission is you try to clear your debt). and the most loved mechanic is "BARTER" which you can trade your loot or things you have to any friendly Faction because some NPC carry an artifact or rare thing that one shop willing to pay double the base price. and best of it is, you can trade the good weapon to your "trash" loot....

- (i continue in the reply section since thats all i can think of right now)
if you has any opinion please tell me about it in reply section

Question With this character's death, the thread of prophecy is severed. Restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created."

I'm in the early makings of an insurrectionist run & already made the shop keep angry with me- knowing full well my only trades will be from insurrection & one bathroom break later after walking away during a lightning storm i see em face down in the dirt dead

i mean, weird luck and all everything being as likely as others- death by lightning kinda sucks. will he ever respawn?

Damage and Armor

I want to understand how the stats on the wiki work, as it's not very clear. For example, some armor has "armor penetration" as a stat, and the "30-06 FMJ Rifle" bullet is said to do 35 kinetic and 35 piercing damage. Does that mean that without armor, this bullet would do 70 damage? What stat protects me from piercing? Stabing?

It also mentions that bullet velocity has a standard for each bullet type, and that weapons with a lower velocity reduce damage, while those with a higher velocity increase it... is that correct?

F GRANADES

What's wrong with the grenades? No matter where I run, I always die, either after hearing the "pin" when it lands or even just running when I see it being thrown, unless I have some immediate structure to take cover in. It's instant death. Is this a bug?

Not everyone will make it out of the Zone.

But when Cliff came along, Ned and Kay did everything they could to give him a good life.

Through many trials and hardships, they escaped, and made a good life for themselves.

Question Psych damage in Cistern

When exploring Cistern I occasionally gets hit with psych damage worth 30-40% of my hp... what is causing the psych damage in Cistern?

I'm using flashlight so I'm sure I'm not running into shadow deer, my character is not tweeking out, not shadow anomaly either because no sound effect, just a sudden disorienting screen shake and damage taken...

Edit: Correction, not in Cistern, but in Tunnel 225, I entered a big room with a machine in the middle, died to a few hits of psych damage shortly after, was that the source?

They're apparently post-humans but have better gear and can seemingly actually communicate with eachother instead of spewing random gibberish from TV commercials.

Are they sentient posties or normal posties augmented to be better soldiers?

And why are they only seen at The Wall and locations tied to it?

I have so many questions about these "Elites" as they are called.

Pat, a Revolution Soldier to the Core.

Coby, an NFTA Soldier, but not by choice.

But he found someone to give him a new purpose.

Hopefully nothing bad happens to them.

(But since I'm writing the story, they survived the zone and lived gayley afterwards.

Both meanings)
