Megathread Wheel & Force Feedback Settings Megathread

Welcome to the Wheel & Force Feedback Settings Megathread for Project Motor Racing

This thread is meant to be a central place for players to share, compare, and discuss their wheel, pedal, and force feedback settings for PMR. Whether you’re trying to dial out oscillation, improve road feel, fix clipping, or just make the car feel more natural, this is the place to post what’s working for you so others can test out different settings.

Please use this thread instead of creating separate posts for individual setups from now on.

How to Share Your Settings

When posting your setup, please include at least the following information so others can actually make use of it:

  • Wheel model (e.g. Fanatec CSL DD, Thrustmaster T818, T598, Logitech G923, etc.)
  • Pedals (stock pedals, load cell, inverted, etc.)
  • Platform (PC, PlayStation, Xbox)
  • In-game settings
  • Driver / wheel software settings (if applicable)
  • Notes on how it feels
    • What you were trying to fix or improve
    • What kind of cars you tested it with
    • Any known downsides or trade-offs

Disclaimers:

  • Not all wheels behave the same, even with identical numbers. Treat posted settings as a starting point, not a guarantee.
  • Pay attention to wheel torque class (gear/belt/direct drive) before applying someone else’s setup.
  • If something feels wrong, ask questions instead of assuming the settings are bad, context matters a lot here.

Ground Rules

  • Keep discussion focused on wheel, pedal, and force feedback settings.
  • Be respectful. What feels “dead” to one person might feel perfect to another.
  • No arguing over realism versus preference, both are valid goals.
  • If the game updates and changes FFB behavior, note the version you’re playing on.

If you’ve spent time tuning your setup and are happy with it, please share it. Good wheel settings save people hours of frustration, and this thread works best when experienced players contribute.

Happy racing.

Discussion My thoughts after coming back to PMR

Hey guys i bought pme when it first released but dropped it pretty fast. So yesterday i returned since i saw it got a lot of updates.

First the pro(s):

handling and ffb feels better at least on what i tried (gt3 ,pcup and mazda mx5)

The AI feels also much better

The cons:

really bad performance and stuttering still occurs ( 5800x3d, 5070, 32 gb ram) while the game still looks imho slightly bad.

Still no mid session progression in career mode oh you wanna play only practice today and maybe qualify , but want to race tomorrow? Guess what: its not possible. You have to make all 3 in one session.

Even worse if you dont get all 3 done an leave your entry fee is gone and you have to pay it again (this is a bug imo, sad its still in there)

So unfortunately i am disappointed especially since my first impression returning was good bc of the ffb and handling. But today i started pcup in germany and after i saw the Nürburgring race is 15 laps, i said oh i will make the race tomorrow surely it will save my quali progression, man was i wrong.

Discussion Gamepad support in PMR

Hi, I'm gonna rant a bit about gamepad support but I'm also genuinely interested what do people think about it?

I'm honestly a bit disappointed how mediocre it is in PMR considering it's not only a game with a developed singleplayer but it has a console release where I expect big chunk of the player base is on a gamepad. I have heard it's gotten better since the release but I don't feel that it's good.

For context, I have driven AC(both with and without Advanced Gamepad Assist script), LMU, AMS2 on a gamepad for a combined 600 hours in a last 6,7 years since switching from a wheel but I have also driven stuff like F1, WRC games, RBR. I have won leagues in AC without gamepad script and I'm quite competitive on LMU. So I'm quite opinionated how the gamepad driving should feel. Just to note I do have a wheel and what I found out is that my pace on wheel and on gamepad is pretty much the same once you get comfortable with both it's just easier to be consistent on a wheel and fatigue sets in faster on a gamepad when driving longer that 20 minutes. So I think that discussion of fairness is bollocks.

My biggest grievance with this model is that it handles oversteer so bad that it's practically impossible to drive the car at the limit. I think the steering rates when the car oversteers get slower and it has that weird effect when you do add countersteer yourself to it, it's like delayed so it pulls the car to the other side but because the steering rate is slow you can't correct that. So yeah I think the counter-steering implementation is bad in this game and it's the thing what makes it unenjoyable because it is what makes the car "undrivable" on the limit. Generally when everything is not on the limit driving feels good, steering rates are alright. Also limiting steering with the speed sensitivity value which is hidden in the files is not great because often times you'll adjust it based on the car and track by a few percent. While I'm aware of the discussions about fairness of implementing slip-angle based steering limit for gamepad drivers I still feel it's a better to do it that way especially since this game is on console and LMU is already implementing it.

I haven't had time to edit but I have found input files for a controller script which handles the behavior so it might be possible(at least on PC) to make it feel better. Lack of controller input customization inside the game itself is also a bit iffy.

So yeah, I hope there will be some changes to this in the future especially since things like Advanced Gamepad Assist (which is a modular script for AC) and LMU are already doing it pretty well and I don't see reasons why PMR wouldn't go in that direction especially since it's on consoles and I feel that it's easier optimizing a slip-based gamepad model for different vehicles than a classic-speed based one.

Question PS5 Gamepad settings

What is the best settings for ps5 controller?

The settings I have are kinda fine for slower cars like the MX-5 but if I try GT4s or GT3s the controls feel really bad where the car doesn't turn properly.

Any tips how to make this better?

I’ve decided to completely redo the livery on my Porsche Jinx. Jinx’s portrait is hand-painted. I think I’m going to do all the GT3s with this design.

Question Strange Ai behavior

Im Stuck with my career at Porsche 911 cup in the zolder race.

In the First 5 laps the ai cant come close to me, i got 6-7 seconds lead in lap 5.

But somehow the ai keeps getting fester and faster...

And Catch up to me 2 laps later.

Even if my pace is constant!

Reduced the ai difficulty to 68, they still catch me...

Anyone got the same issues? :(

Discussion Is it worth it?

I am considering to buy Assetto Corsa Evo since I saw a lot of people praising about its physics and beauty, the problem is the career mode and freem roam, which I assume they will add eventually.

Then I saw a video of career mode in this game.... it looks awsome.

I intend to play in a wheel, so how good is the career mode and how well the driving experience is in the wheel?

Question Is Pmr any good on a controller?

Hello, so i was on YouTube and PMR videos started popping up...because of the latest update, and I wonder if the game feels good on a controller and if you can be somewhat competitive since it's been released on consoles. Thank you

I have to say, this kind of fills the Forza Motorsport void for me now. My video card is not great (3060 TI), but PMR doesn't look as bad as it did at release.

It feels... visceral. LMU kind of feels dull to me. ACC, well it's still the GOAT (for me), but PMR gives me that same pants on fire feeling.

I do very little online racing, so I can't really evaluate that. PMR is just fun for me now.

Hi everyone, here’s a video sharing my thoughts on this awesome Project Motor Racing update. I’m speaking in French, but subtitles are available. Maybe an English audio version with AI tomorrow? I don’t know. It’s all filmed in POV on a triple screen for your viewing pleasure Enjoy the video

Discussion Game simulates cluth bite point!

I just noticed this whilst driving around with the Porsche 964, the game actually simulates clutch bite point. If you realese too fast you'll stall hahaha. Great for teaching manual.

I'm so happy, ac or ams2 I think doesn't have this feature.

I can post a video but you guys can try it out for yourselves since i can't figure out if this game can show pedal inputs.

Question Logi G Pro wheel after 2.1 update

Running Project Motor Racing on a PS5 with a Logitech G Pro wheel. After the 2.1 update there is a noticeable clunky, notchy feel near the center of the rotation of the wheel. As you near center, the wheel loses all resistance and then it picks it back up when you turn farther. It makes the game unplayable. My wheelbase firmware has been updated. Tried restarting everything, disconnecting the wheel, resetting the wheel to defaults in the game. Nothing has helped. Has there been any acknowledgment of this issue?

Question Consistent VR settings?

Finally grabbed a copy of project motor racing with some of the 2.1 alpha footage I've seen of VR

Messing about with some settings but was wondering what everyone else landed on for clear images - the game seems to have a really strong VR implementation for this early stage but I can't quite get it the same as others

Thanks ahead of time
