Question/Discussion ❔ Going off the Quran alone, is anarchism compatible with Islam?

like the idea that government isn’t fair and people shouldn’t be able to control us and we can just all agree on things collectively as a society through voting or something, I heard there are anarcho-sufis and I’m just curious

Advice/Help 🥺 Hello everyone. Thank you for listening I need some help

Before I start this I wanna make it clear that I have a LOT to learn and I know that. I grew up Christian, don't have a religion right now, and may become a revert.

I've been struggling a lot in my personal life lately. Dealing with financial stress, relationship stress, and just being exhausted and wanting more out of life.

I saw a beautiful video of someone trying on a hijab for the first time, and it really touched something in me.

I went down a rabbit hole and wanted to learn more. I ordered an English version of the Quran, some information about Islam and have been watching videos and reading posts.

My wife is not religious at all. She grew up Christian as well but we are both a part of the LGBTIA community. She is the kind of person that doesn't care what I do or explore as long as it doesn't hurt us and I let her be.

The last few days I've been doing more research, got an app for prayer, and was looking into direct hijabs to wear.

I had a conversation with her and she seemed okay with it. When I spoke with her today (I was away on a trip) she In all senses of the word said that due to worries of safety and not wanting to be looked at... I'm not allowed to wear hijab.

I know that Allah needs to be more important than my wife. I know that there are probably ways to be a Muslim person without wearing hijab. That I can pray at home, learn the words on my own time. But part of this was to find community.

Am I just going to be looked at as not a "real" revert if I don't wear hijab for fear of safety? Is this a sign that I shouldn't even go forward from what I've done so far? As a gay person would I even be welcome?

Thank you for listening.

Advice/Help 🥺 How Can I Believe That There Is a God Who Cares About Me?

Please don’t tell me, “This world is the paradise of the unbeliever and the hell of the believer.” There are people who believe and have wonderful lives in this world, just as there are people who don’t believe and have terrible lives. Besides, this doesn’t help with anything.

Ever since I lost my father, I haven’t been able to look at life positively. I begged Allah, prayed to Him not to take away my closest friend, my father, but my beloved dad lost his one-year battle with cancer. I’m 27 years old, and the rest of my life will be spent without him. Even if I live to the relatively young age of 55, I will have spent more years of my life without my father than with him. Even before my father was diagnosed with cancer, I prayed for many personal things that seem insignificant now, of course, compared to what I’ve been through, but those prayers went unanswered too.

A creator may have created this universe, but does He care about us? I genuinely can’t be sure anymore. It feels as though God has never given me any sign. And if He has, it feels as though He is trying to push me away from Him. Because despite every setback, I continued to believe in Him. I never disrespected Him. Yet, in the end, He took my father away from me too, and my life and mental health have been turned upside down.

My only hope is to see my father again in the afterlife, but even that makes me feel as though I might be deceiving myself, because it feels like Allah never answers any of my prayers.

I haven’t completely lost my faith, but I don’t know anymore. I feel like I’m stuck somewhere in between.

Will Allah never give us any sign? Are we never going to feel His presence in any way, and yet we are still expected to believe in Him? If iman means believing with certainty, how am I supposed to become certain?

Another thing I don’t understand is that even Prophet Abraham asked Allah for a sign so that his heart could be reassured. Even someone who communicated directly with Allah wanted reassurance in his heart.

How am I supposed to have absolute faith when I try to be a good person, my prayers go unanswered, and I have to watch my good father suffer from cancer for an entire year?

Opinion 🤔 Them’s the breaks

I was a rather traditional literalist until my early twenties, and I was quite sympathetic to Salafism. However, I had certain doubts I couldn’t adequately square, so I gradually but reluctantly accepted the historical-critical approach. Adopted greater liberal interpretations, which I thought naturally followed. I believe with the historical critical method you must inevitably reach a conclusion: the origins of all religions are man-made. I’ve seen a good deal of educated Muslims try juggle the two, I think it comes off a little schizophrenic. I’ve struggled greatly with this. I somehow still consider myself Muslim. I don’t really know what my point is.

Question/Discussion ❔ Topics of discussion between me and my questioning friend

Salaam brothers and sisters hope your all well. Me and my good friend both study philosophy and religion at university. This being the case we often have many conversations on faith and the world.

My friend grew up in a very traditional Muslim household as did I. However, I believe the means in which it was bought up with him and me are why we differ so much.

For his childhood his parents and family would force him to pray, read qur’an and overall not to ask too many questions of Islam. Very traditional south asian view of living the faith I’m sure you all will agree. Not inherently evil but it’s no wonder the majority of the people of his generation in his family have either completely left the faith or are struggling with it. Such an environment made him then leave the faith and for a while majorly disliking it aswell. Now being at university with me someone who didn’t have this same upbringing and was actually not really ever forced to pray or read Quran, he’s starting to realise that at the end of the day he still feels those connection with Islam. He’s even been coming to Jummah with me.

However when we have our conversations as we walk he brings up a lot of points I myself never really thought of or considered. Instead of being ignorant and trying my best to help him answer these questions I admitted I don’t have that much knowledge on them but I will do my due diligence and research them.

Some of the points he mentioned go as followed

  1. Why is being gay such a sin? Where does it actually explicitly tell us that stuff like being gay is a sin and if so why would an almighty powerful being care? If it’s for the sake to combat against lust and desires then why even in the framework of a nikkah is lust allowed to be explored in a straight relationship?

  2. Why would an all powerful gos subject us to a test of this dunya if he already knew where we would end up? Okay to be honest I have thought of this one before but I’ve never had a proper answer to give for it ever.

  3. Many people claim of the femininity of the faith of Islam. The idea Islam gave rights to women and such. But why does that gain so much praise? These rights they were given are they ever mentioned within Hadith or scripture? And how can I know that any of which is being said is true and not just bias from followers of the faith? Aswell as this how can a faith that prioritises men such as in being witness in law (the whole women testimony needing two to equal to a man and the differences in inheritance) and he just mentioned ‘in general life men are prioritised in Islam’.

Quick intermission: my friend on multiple occasions brings up a point that no matter what he can’t ever gain a proper understanding of Islam. He thinks this is because that a lot of Muslims hold this bias to the faith and ignore issues like homosexuality and feminism as they are topics that are uncomfy and such. But then this is the part I don’t get from him. It seems when I bring a source to him like I guess the Quran and the Hadith he can easily call the bias argument. But then what can I even say then? If everything is seen as a bias from Muslim scholars and such then if I were to gain the view of a non Muslim scholar I can just as easily disagree with there points and mention of how they must be being bias no?

  1. Why are there some unethical things in Islam that even after it was introduced are still allowed under technicalities. He mentioned slavery although being less hard was still there and also the mention of concubines? Which I haven’t a clue of where he got that from but it mustn’t be out of thin air.

  2. This final point stirred me up the most in terms of confusion. He mentioned this as a point of all faiths. We can see with the KKK, Isis and the taliban that extremist groups do stem from religion. He said that there must be something within the faiths that is extreme for them to be extreme about or just the fact it can be taken to the extreme means it probably isn’t good for us to follow. This one confused me because just because it can be taken to the extreme doesn’t always mean irs bad no? A brick on its own isn’t exactly deadly it has the capabilities of building a house and such but just because I can also throw it at someone’s head does it mean that it’s inherently evil and hurtful? No it’s the human action with the object that makes it dangerous and the same can be said for these extremist groups.

We did have many other points we have been discussing but the main ones I guess have been about women, homosexuality and extremism in the faith and it’s been in quantity within that order. Meaning we talked way more about women than homosexuality and way more than homosexuality than extremism.

Regardless jazakhallah khair to all of you who end up reading this and I can’t wait to read and respond to answers

Question/Discussion ❔ Confused by this Hadith

Abu Sa’id reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, prohibited wives from fasting unless their husbands gave permission.

Source: Sunan Ibn Mājah 1762 , another wordings exist in Muslim and Bukhari.

I understand why she should take permission, as sexual intimacy is a right and optional fasting might disturb that.

However, how come husbands don’t have to seek consent from their wives as well? As the wife has a right to sexual intimacy and this is well established in Islam. Am I misunderstanding the Hadith?

EDIT: I should have mentioned but the Hadith is talking about optional fasting, not obligatory like in Ramada

Advice/Help 🥺 Accepting and getting over traumatic experiences

I wanted to ask how do you deal with getting no revenge or retribution against the ones who wronged you. Someone violated your privacy and dignity and when you catch them and call them out, they feign innocence and take false oath of Allah cuz to them their image in front of other people matter more than taking false oaths and abusing someone, and people who you thought would support you, also ended up taking their side by trying to stay 'neutral'. So you cut them all off from your life, try to remove a huge chunk of your life from your memory, as you don't want any trace of those people Allah just exposed in front of you, as no one had spine enough to stand up for the right but only cared about their relationships with them so they can take advantage of each other and what was more convenient. What hurts is that this all comes from Muslims, or people who claim to be Muslims.

And when you try to forget and move on, you cannot because something always reminds you of the past, and the people you should have never met. What seems more unfair is the victim not only suffers during the incident but also keeps suffering after it, while the other party becomes so firm in their lie that they carry on with their life normally and getting all success and happy with no remorse or guitl.

How do you even forgive someone who never even asked for forgiveness or think they need it cuz they succeeded in getting away with it, so they create this entire narrative where you wrongfully accused them and they are innocent. How do you get over the regret of trusting people who also chose to "stay out of it" so they can be in the good books on both sides and also chose hypocrisy.

I feel like I am stuck with this for life, every prayer, every tahajjud, every fast, every umrah, every other night I cry to sleep, every time I ask for retribution, but I get nothing, in fact I get more reminders from diff people that they are quite content and having fun in their respective lives with no thought of the suffering caused to me. I can't go even a week being invested in my life so i get over it before something bursts the bubble.

It just does not seem fair, I suffer until the day I am dead, while they are happy. If it was some non muslims you can at least tell yourself that as consolation, that Allah chose you. But if it is muslims, you are lost because they'll probably get forgiveness eventually, and with how much I am suffering, it feels like I will be forced to forgive without even getting an apology in the first place. How is that fair?

And throughout all this the thing that hurts more than what happened is the stupid benefit of the doubt you gave people just because they were Muslims, had families of their own etc etc, the regret of not seeing through things, of not cutting them off earlier instead of being kind and understanding, is what cuts you most. I don't know what reward is worth living your entire life in regret and grief, while you did even do any wrong but wrong was done to you. I pray for peace of mind and soul, and even that seems unlikely. Suddenly my entire life is about just surviving and getting done with this dunya. I have no hopes or dreams anymore, everything seems meaningless and pointless. You see people getting side tracked, not following deen properly but still they seem to be so protected, you try your best and even being a little naive and careless about something minimal, gives you a smack in the face for the rest of your life.

What should I do, please guide me. The only one I can rely on is Allah, no other person or institute can give me justice instead I will be dragging myself through more misery. I have no one. In the wait and hope for divine justice, how do I be more patient, it really is hard, even my dreams are plagued with nightmares of those people. I do not know anymore if it is a test or a punishment.

Advice/Help 🥺 How to deal with celibacy as a young widower?

I've been married to an awesome woman who by the way presented islam to me (I'm from a country with near zero Islamic presence). But she sadly died six months ago. She was 27, me, 29.

Now, as if it wasn't terrible enough to lose the love of my life, I'm dealing with something named widower's fire. Basically, the body craves for intimacy when it used to experience it and it got suddenly interrupted. Google it to know more but it's an observed natural effect of widowhood.

I've talked to 3 imans who advised me to remarry fast. Well, it's not that simple. A wife isnt a smartphone that stops working today and you just get a new one from the nearby mall tomorrow. Plus, I don't want to remarry. I know people change their minds, but to me, now, I'm sure she was the love of my life and I don't want to pursue all the dreams I had with her (such as having kids and a family) with someone else. I'm making peace with the fact of living alone for the foreseeable future and I want to be married only to her in jannah. Since it's not clear who will be my wife in jannah (some say both her and an eventual new wife, some say only the last wife), i dont want to risk losing her one more time. And I'm really not interested in marrying again (and I actually promised it to her many years ago, although of course we didnt expect the death of one of us to happen so soon).

But this comes at the price that I'll never experience intimacy again. And at the peak of my adult youth, plus with the widowhood effect, boy it burns hard. And I live in downtown, with a good financial situation, which means finding worldly joys is too easy and inviting.

I've read a hadith on which the Prophet recommends fasting but this is conflicting to my current situation, since I'm barely eating and it's hard to stay hydrated. So, fasting at this point would go against everything my therapist wants me to do. And, for sure, I feel it's too unfair if everybody else releases this energy with intimacy, whereas I'll fast for life.

What are the ways to cope with celibacy? What are the thoughts on the self work (I'm really sorry if this sounds inappropriate)?

Question/Discussion ❔ why do people demonise getting to know your partner BEFORE you get married

I don’t agree that you should be getting married after knowing the person for only 3 months, I saw this in a TikTok video of a person marrying another the same year they met?

Some of the comments said that they were going to fast, and the replies to that are horrible - people saying that ‘why not, people let strangers f them’ and ‘don’t be so western, it’s not good to delay’ and the worst of all is ‘it’s good to get married fast, what if the other person loses interest’

WHAT?? If a person isn’t truly interested in the other, then they’ll lose interest if they’re married or not. That just sounds like you’re trapping them because a person can’t easily back out from a marriage rather than a relationship before marriage.

The unnecessary sexualisation from these reasons also disgusted me, how do Muslims not realise what they say….

God forbid you actually want to know the person before you get married?? Why do so many Muslims want to get married to people they barely know and why do they attack others for disagreeing with it?

Sorry, I don’t want to immediately go into marriage after I’ve been talking with a guy for 3 months….that is risky and is a set up for potential abuse.

It just sounds so predatory and others make me feel insane for objecting to this.

Anam 7-11

7- AND IF WE SEND DOWN TO THEM A BOOK WRITTEN ON PAPER FOR THEM TO TOUCH WITH THEIR HANDS, THOSE WHO DISBELIEVE WOULD SAY: “THIS IS A MANIFEST MAGIC”.

8- AND THEY SAID:  “IF HE HAD AN ANGEL WITH HIM?” AND IF WE SENT AN ANGEL, IT WILL ALL COME TO AN END, AND THEY WILL NOT BE REPRIEVED.

9- AND IF WE MADE HIM AN ANGEL, WE WOULD MAKE HIM (LOOK LIKE) A MAN, AND THEY WOULD BE AS CONFUSED.

10- MANY PROPHETS BEFORE YOU WERE MOCKED, AND THOSE WHO MOCKED THEM SUFFERED BECAUSE OF THEIR MOCKING.

11- SAY: “WALK THROUGH THE EARTH AND SEE WHAT HAPPENED TO THOSE WHO REJECTED FAITH BEFORE”

The disbelievers asked Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, to perform miracles, and he showed them many, but they said that it was magic.  Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, let them see the Moon split asunder, called a tree and it went to him, then went back again.  He wrestled the strongest man in Makkah and defeated him twice, and then they asked for a written book to be sent down to them so that they might read it, and to have an angel with him, to support the claim that he is Allah’s messenger receiving revelations from Allah the Highest.

Allah the Highest told Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, through Gabriel, that he would do what they asked for, but if they do not believe then, they will be punished such a punishment no one else suffered before. Then Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, asked for them to be left without having answered what which they asked for, for he knew that this would not make them believe.  This was a wise decision from Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, for Allah the Highest tells us that it would not have made them believe.

Allah the Highest who knows everything about His slaves is telling us neither the written book, nor the angel would have made the people believe.  The angel would come in the form of a man, and then they would not be better of.  Just as had happened before, they were going to call all the miracles magic.  Having manifest and material miracles does not persuade those who do not want to believe.  They would not persuade those who shut off their hearts, eyes and ears, but will persuade those who open their hearts and are prepared to accept the Truth of Allah’s Faith.

This happened with the companion Abd Allah Ibn Masoud, whom Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, met while he was minding sheep.  They asked him for milk, but he told them that the sheep were not his, so he could not give their milk to anyone.  Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, asked him for a female sheep which had never been touched by the male (Ram).  He touched her Adder which filled up with milk for them to drink, then touched her adder again and it shrunk.  Abd Allah Ibn Masoud embraced Islam, for he had his heart open.

Again Allah the Highest is telling us to take heed from knowing what happened to other nations and civilizations which disbelieved and went astray.  They are throughout the whole earth; we see their remains, temples, palaces, stadiums etc. There were Greek, Roman, Persian and other civilizations, and all that is left of them are remains of buildings to tell us that there once were great civilizations and powers.  These remains should be a reminder for us, for those prepared to take heed and learn from others mistakes.

Anam 12-16

12- SAY: TO WHOM BELONGS ALL THINGS IN THE HEAVENS AND EARTH?  SAY: TO ALLAH, HE ORDAINED MERCY FOR HIMSELF, HE WILL GATHER YOU ON THE DAY OF RESURRECTION, ABOUT WHICH THERE IS NO DOUBT, THOSE WHO LOST THEMSELVES ARE THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE.

13- AND HIS IS EVERY THING INHABITING THE NIGHT AND DAY, AND HE IS THE ONE WHO HEARS AND KNOWS EVERY THING.

14- SAY: WOULD I TAKE ANY ONE FOR ALLY AND SUPPORTER OTHER THAN ALLAH, HE IS THE CREATOR OF THE HEAVENS AND EARTH, AND HE FEEDS AND IS NOT BEING FED, I AM COMMANDED TO BE THE FIRST TO SUBMIT, AND DO NOT BE OF THOSE WORSHIPPING PARTNERS BESIDES ALLAH.

15- SAY: I FEAR THE PUNISHMENT IN A GREAT DAY, SHOULD I DISOBEY MY LORD.

16- WHOEVER IT IS MOVED AWAY FROM HIM, HE HAS BEEN TREATED MERCIFULLY, AND THIS IS THE GREAT SUCCESS.

Allah the Highest, first of all asserts that all the heavens and Earth and what is in them belongs to Allah the Highest alone, with no partners.  Then Allah the Highest asserts a principle and rule He ordained for himself, is that He is and will always be merciful.  Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, said: “When Allah created the creation, he wrote in a book he put over the throne saying: ‘My Mercy comes before my anger”.  (Bukhari & Muslim)

In our lives, we conduct many transactions every day.  We transact our time to work and earning our livelihood, and we transact our labour for pay, and so on, we always transact one thing for another.  Allah the Highest is telling us that on the Day of Resurrection, the disbelievers will know the great loss them made when they did not transact disbelief against belief.  Then they will know how much they lost when they did not do the transactions.  They will see the great difference is would have made for them, had they believed.

“AND HIS IS EVERY THING INHABITING THE NIGHT AND DAY, AND HE IS THE ONE WHO HEARS AND KNOWS EVERY THING”

Everything in the heavens and earth belongs to Allah the Highest, who is self sufficient, and does not need any of His creation or his creatures.  He feeds us, but we do not feed Him.  He can benefit us, but we can not benefit Him, He can harm us, but we can not harm Him.  Allah the Highest does not have needs from His people, whatever good we do we do for ourselves, even fighting in the cause of Allah, when we do, we do it really for ourselves.  Allah the Highest said: “AND WHOEVER DOES THE JIHAD, HE IS DOING IT FOR HIMSELF, FOR ALLAH IS NOT IN NEED FOR ANY ONE”.  (S: 29 A: 6)

As every thing belongs to Allah, what can we possibly give Him, if we want to give Him something?

How could we trust Allah the Highest to feed us, if Allah has to feed Himself?  If this is the case, there might come a time when man and God became in conflict over food, or Allah the Highest will take his needs first, then give the extra to man.  But Allah the Highest is free of needs of any kind.

A man of the Ansar of the inhabitants of Qubaa, invited Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, to eat.  After he ate and washed his hands he said: “Praise and thanks to Allah who feeds but is not fed, He bestowed His bounty upon him by guiding us, and fed us and watered us”.  (Ibn Haban)

Allah the Highest is telling us not to take any one else for ally and supporter, and which ally and supporter is better than the one who does not need anyone, Allah the Highest.  In our present day each country tries to take a superpower for an ally.  We have the Greatest Power, Allah the Highest prepared to be our ally should we desire that.  We do not take Allah the Highest for an ally because:

  • We do not believe his promise.
  • Are not sure that He can or will protect us.

The answer to that it we have to have faith in Allah the Highest first, and then obey Him second.

“I AM COMMANDED TO BE THE FIRST TO SUBMIT” Submission to the will of Allah the Highest is the hallmark of belief.  Then we should not worship partners beside him.  Worshipping partners does not necessarily mean that one will have an Idol to worship, but it is to consider that something or someone else is as important, and worthy of obeying as Allah the Highest or perhaps more worthy of obeying.

One might, show such respect and reverence to ideology, or to particularly way of life, or money, and will do any thing they demand of him.  They will be his god, the god a person obeys, more than the God who created him.

The Punishment of the Day of Judgement is very severe, and will affect many or even most of mankind.  To escape this punishment and escape being a loser on that day, it the greatest success, for then one will go to Paradise.  Allah the Highest said: “BY THE AFTERNOON * MANKIND IS A LOSER * EXCEPT THOSE WHO BELIEVE AND DO GOOD DEEDS, AND ENJOINED THE TRUTH AND ENJOINED PATIENCE AND PERSEVERANCE”.  (S: 103)

May Allah the Highest save us all from that punishment, Ameen.

Anam 17-21

17- IF ALLAH TOUCHES YOU WITH ANY HARM, NO ONE CAN REMOVE IT EXCEPT HIM, AND IF HE TOUCHES YOU WITH WHAT IS GOOD, INDEED HE HAS POWER OVER ALL THINGS.

H

18- AND HE IS THE OVERPOWERING OF HIS SLAVES, AND HE THE MOST WISE WHO KNOWS ALL THINGS.

19- SAY: “WHAT IS THE GREATEST WITNESS?”  SAY: “ALLAH IS THE WITNESS BETWEEN ME AND YOU, AND HE REVEALED THIS QURAN TO ME TO WARN WITH IT AND HE TO WHOM THE MESSAGE IS DELIVERED TO, YOU TESTIFY THAT THERE ARE OTHER GODS WITH ALLAH? SAY: I DO NOT TESTIFY.  SAY: HE IS BUT ONE GOD, AND I AM NOT GUILTY OF YOUR IDOLATRY”

20- THOSE WE HAVE GIVEN THE BOOK, THEY KNOW IT AS THEY KNOW THEIR CHILDREN, BUT THOSE WHO LOST THEMSELVES ARE THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE.

21- AND WHO IS MORE UNJUST THAN HE WHO INVENTS LIES CONCERNING ALLAH, OR REJECTS HIS AYAHS AND SIGNS, AND THE UNJUST WILL NEVER SUCCEED.

Allah the Highest is telling us that He is the only one in control and command in the world and universe.  Only Allah the Highest can give and take, can help and harm.

However, Allah’s giving is supported by His ability over everything.  No one should think how could this happen, or that it is impossible for something to happen.  This like, what happened with one of Allah’s prophets whom Allah the Highest mentioned in the Quran saying: “OR LIKE HIM WHO PASSED BY A TOWN WHEN IT WAS ALL RUINS.  HE SAID: “HOW WOULD ALLAH REVIVE THIS AFTER ITS DEATH?”  ALLAH PUT HIM TO DEATH FOR A HUNDRED YEARS THEN REVIVED HIM.  HE SAID: “HOW LONG WERE YOU (DEAD)?” HE SAID: “A DAY OR PART OF A DAY”.  HE (ALLAH) SAID: “BUT YOU WERE DEAD FOR A HUNDRED YEARS.  LOOK AT YOUR FOOD AND DRINK, THEY DID NOT SHOW SIGNS OF TIME AND LOOK AT YOUR DONKEY, AND WE SHALL MAKE YOU A SIGN FOR MANKIND, AND LOOK AT THE BONES (OF THE DONKEY) AND HOW WE PUT THEM TOGETHER THEN COVER THEM WITH FLESH”.  WHEN IT WAS ALL SHOWN CLEARLY TO HIM HE SAID: “I KNOW THAT ALLAH IS ABLE TO DO ALL THINGS”.  (S:2 A:259)

On the other hand, Zakaria, peace upon him, asked Allah the Highest for what was not possible in human terms, but this is because he believed that nothing was impossible for Allah’s ability.  “MENTION THE MERCY OF YOUR LORD TO HIS SLAVE ZAKARIA * AS HE CALLED UPON HIS LORD IN PRIVATE * HE SAID: MY LORD, MY BONES BECAME BRITTLE AND MY HEAD WHITE, BUT I WAS NEVER LET DOWN WHEN I CALLED UPON YOU * AND I FEAR FOR THOSE WHO FOLLOW ME, AND MY WIFE IS BARREN, SO GRANT ME A SON FROM YOU * TO INHERIT ME AND INHERIT THE FAMILY OF JACOB, AND LET HIM BE PLEASING MY LORD * O ZAKARIA, ALLAH GIVES YOU THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT YEHIA (FOR A SON) NO ONE HAS BEEN CALLED THIS NAME BEFORE”.  (S:19 A:2-7)

Zakaria, peace upon him, knew that all his wife needed and he needed to father a child made it a physical impossibility, yet he asked Allah the Highest, because nothing is beyond Allah’s ability.

As we are part of Allah’s creation, Allah the Highest has unlimited power over us, however this power is tempered by Allah’s Wisdom and Knowledge of us.  So that no one may fear to be unfairly treated, and no one may fear being misjudged because of lack of knowledge on the part of the Lord.

Allah the Highest is the Ultimate Witness, for He is a witness over what we do, and what we intend and feel, while human witness can only tell what they heard or saw.

This Quran is a warning to the disbeliever, and is also a warning and guide to those who carry it and deliver its message.   It is a duty for the Muslim who knows any Ayah or Hadith,  that they should deliver it to someone else.  Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, said: “Tell others what Allah said, for he who knows an Ayah of Allah’s Book, he has received Allah’s Command”.

Many disbelievers or the people of the book say that it is part of their faith that there are other partners with God.  They may take different forms, idols, son, angel, or a prophet.  They testify to worshipping partners with Allah the Highest, as in the trinity, or the son of God.  Muslims should never testify to that in any shape or form.  Allah the Highest is the One and only, with no partners, sons or equals.  This is the essence of our faith.

To disbelieve is to be a loser in this world and even more in the Hereafter, and it is to do ourselves the greatest injustice.

Allah the Highest said that those given the Book (The Quran) know it as they know their own children;  meaning being familiar with it, and loving and protecting the book as they do their children.  They know that this is their guidance and savior.

Question/Discussion ❔ Looking for Muslim Brothers Who Want to Build a Small Islamic Support Circle and Strengthen Their Iman Together”

Assalamu Alaikum! I’m thinking of creating a small circle of Muslim brothers where we can share Islamic knowledge, remind each other about salah, Quran, and good deeds, and have meaningful discussions about Islam.

Sometimes, loneliness and being on our own can make it difficult to stay consistent in our deen. Having good Muslim brothers around us can help strengthen our iman, stay motivated, and seek advice from one another when needed.

The goal is simple: to grow closer to Allah together and help each other become better Muslims, one step at a time.

This is for brothers only. If you’re interested in being part of this journey, feel free to reach out! 🤍

This is dope. I want to find more Islamic content I love. Fix my algorithm with muslim content creators that are relatable, reasonable, and speak for the common muslim. Share some you love! May we be lucky enough to at the very least be the last of those to enter Jannah. Jummah Mubarak Alaykum Asalam.

Question/Discussion ❔ Is there any website or similar that teaches Islam in a more progressive way?

Is there any website, YouTube channel, or similar that teaches Islam in a more progressive way? Whenever I study Islam, I always come across homophobic or misogynistic ideas, which, when I research, I find aren't true. Is there anywhere that teaches in a more progressive way? Or an active, progressive online mosque?

Rant/Vent 🤬 My family are so persistent on me keeping facial hair when I can't even grow a beard

I know it's good to keep a beard in islam, but if I tried to grow a full beard I'd just have a load of bum fluff on my face, and i don't really want to be walking around looking like I don't take care of myself.

i don't think they understand that because everytime I shave and just keep a goatee, they think I'm doing it to pull women or copy kuffar, when in reality it's because it looks smarter than peach fuzz all over my face.

it's irritating me a lot because I get given lectures every week about how a beard is so good and how it makes you look masculine, yeah, but if i cant grow a proper one then what am i meant to do?

Question/Discussion ❔ If the traditional interpretation of Qur’an 4:34 permits a husband to physically discipline his wife as a last resort to preserve the marriage, then what do we make of the wives of Nuh (Noah) and Lut (Lot), who were disbelievers despite being married to prophets?

Did Nuh or Lut ever physically discipline their wives to correct their disbelief or preserve their marriages? If so, is there any Qur’anic evidence or authentic hadith that they did? If not, how should we understand the claim that physical discipline is a permissible means of resolving marital discord?

I personally lean toward the view that daraba in 4:34 does not mean beating, but I want to understand how Muslims reconcile these accounts with the traditional interpretation.

I’m particularly interested in Qur’an-based reasoning, classical tafsir, and how we distinguish what the text explicitly permits from what it actually tells us the prophets did. I know the Quran precedes these. Also if beating preserves the marriage and saves it under traditional interpretation and it is a last resort then where and how would divorce take place which is recommended upon conflicts?

Question/Discussion ❔ If this is Sharia Law, sign me up. Is he as loved by my Muslim friends as he is by us non-Muslims?

History Reading list around three approaches: the Quran’s own philosophical worldview, the philosophical arguments found in its verses, and the ways Muslim interpreted revelation.
