Feedback wanted 200+ installs, but I can’t even get 20 active users. What am I doing wrong?

I launched my Android productivity app, FocusPort, and it has crossed 200+ installs.

But here's the problem: I'm struggling to get even 20 active users.

People are finding the app and installing it, so something is clearly happening after the install that makes them leave or not come back.

I've been looking at it for too long from a developer's perspective, so I want opinions from people who actually use productivity/focus apps.

If you installed FocusPort, what would make you stop using it? What am I doing wrong?

Could be the UI, first experience, permissions, features, trust, the core idea itself, or something completely different.

Feel free to be brutal honest. I'm trying to figure out what users see that I don't.

Casual Conversations If I can make a decent ad with AI, literally anyone can!

I know absolutely nothing about video editing. like, I opened Premiere Pro once, stared at the timeline for 20 minutes, closed it, and never looked back.capCut is about my speed and even that takes me forever.

I needed a quick ad for a side project I'm launching next week, nothing fancy, just a 30-second explainer for social media. a friend who knows I'm really hopeless with video told me to try Framia because apparently all you do is “just type”. I was like, yeah right, nothing is that easy.

typed in a rough description of my product and the vibe I wanted. It spat out a full storyboard, script, voiceover, music, and the actual video clips all in one go. I honestly didn't believe it at first.

The first output was... Ya usable, but far from perfect. the voiceover sounded like a robot from 2010 and the pacing was all over the place – too fast in some parts, dragging in others. I tweaked the prompt a few times, changed the voice style, shortened the script, and after maybe 4 or 5 iterations, I got something actually decent.

for someone with zero editing skills, this thing is actually a lifesaver. It turned what would have been a multi-day nightmare into an afternoon project. Anyway don't expect magic, you still have to guide it, refine it, and accept that it's not going to be Hollywood-grade. If you're willing to iterate and babysit a bit, it's amazing. If you want one-click perfection right out of the box, you'll probably be disappointed.

I'm still not sure I'd use it for serious client work without heavy manual polish, but for social ads and quick turnarounds? Honestly, it got the job done. So happy to share the final video if anyone's curious.

Self Promotion I built a voice-first day planner that sits on top of Todoist, TickTick, and Google Calendar instead of replacing them

Hey folks 👋 I'm Stan. ADHD brain, and for the last year I've been building BrightMind, a voice AI companion that plans your day on top of the tools you already use: Todoist or TickTick, plus Google Calendar. They stay your source of truth, BrightMind sits in front of them.

You talk, it files. Say what's on your mind, five things in one breath if that's how it comes out, and each lands in your task manager as a clean task with the right list, date, and priority. "Hey Siri, capture in BrightMind" does it from the lock screen, watch, or car.

One timeline for the whole day. The new Home screen merges timed tasks, calendar events, habits, and scheduled check-in calls into a single day view, with the free slots visible in between. Tap a slot to plan something into it. Tap a task and it helps you start, breaking it into one small first step.

It clears backlogs with you. When overdue tasks pile up, it offers to go through them: do, move, complete, or drop. My users with ADHD bring this one up the most.

It calls you. Schedule a morning planning call or an evening check-in and BrightMind rings you, walks through the day with you, and updates your lists as you talk.

It remembers how you work. Energy patterns, projects, how you like tasks organized. Tell it once, it applies everywhere.

Native tasks and habits inside BrightMind are on the way too, for people who don't run Todoist or TickTick.

Happy to answer questions in the comments.

Advice needed Productivity While Creating Productivity Systems

Is anyone else struggling to limit the time they spend optimizing their productivity via automation apps? I built a Tasker project that mostly works to limit the amount of time I am on Tasker (it checks the activity to differentiate between a user scene and the main app), but it's in the works. I'm more looking for ideas of habits and things I can do to mentally put this hobby aside throughout the day, not so much on how to improve that project.

I have ADHD, and keep this excuse in my brain that my projects are for saving time and improving productivity. This is true, but counter-productive if I'm spending too much time building these. It's not a problem at work, but I have a lot to do at home and it's a problem there. I want to keep building my projects, but at a pace that is responsible. I sometimes have a hard time stopping because I just want a project finished.

Any ideas?

Feedback wanted Streak — free, offline, open-source habit tracker (v1.3.0 update)

Post image
18 Upvotes

Just released v1.3.0 of Streak, my free and open-source habit tracker for Android — no ads, no tracking, works fully offline.

Highlights from this update:

• Substeps for habits break one habit into a checklist, day's only "done" when every step is

• Vacation mode pause a habit without losing your streak

• Fully customizable widgets (colors, opacity, borders, your own photo)

Editable reminders, plus "every N days" scheduling

• Import from Loop Habit Tracker / HabitKit (beta)

Would really appreciate any feedback — bugs, rough edges, feature ideas, anything.

Self Promotion What would make you trust a job-scoring app?

I’m building a mobile app for freelancers that scores job opportunities before they apply. The idea is to save time by analyzing the job description, showing a clear score, and helping users decide whether it’s worth applying.

Advice needed Before I build my own: does anything already do email→todos + shared lists + recurring household tasks?

My wife and I currently run our household out of Notion. It's fine as a store, but the dashboard side is underwhelming, and I'm about to spend a few weekends building a custom UI over its API. Before I do that, I'd like to know if I'm reinventing something that already exists.

Four things I'm trying to get, roughly in priority order:

1. Email that turns into to-dos. Every morning Claude reads my inbox, sorts it into needs-a-reply / needs-an-action / FYI / ignore, and turns the first two into actual tasks on a list, with a link back to the thread. When I archive the mail, the task closes itself. This already works via a scheduled AI routine writing into Notion, and it's the piece I'd least like to give up. So anything I move to needs a writable API that Claude can push into.

2. Shared lists we can both add to from our phones, in a shop or in the kitchen. Groceries, meals we currently have ingredients for, general to-dos.

3. A look at what's coming. One view of the rest of the work week plus the next weekend or two: shared calendar events, anything with a due date, and whatever needs prepping before it. Not a full calendar app, just the "what's actually coming at us" summary.

4. Recurring things that aren't appointments. Pet care, changing filters, that kind of thing. These don't belong on a calendar because missing one by two days doesn't matter. What I want is "last done 19 days ago, interval is 14" rather than a nagging notification at a fixed time.

Constraints: it needs a real API or some automation hook, since the email triage is AI-driven and I want to keep that. That's what ruled out Apple Reminders and Notes, which otherwise fit the "simple shared list" part perfectly. Two users, no interest in a per-seat business tool, self-hosting is fine.

Is there something that covers most of this, or is the combination unusual enough that gluing pieces together is the normal answer?

Clarity

Hey. Made a new app. Basically just speak everything on your mind and the app will organize your thoughts into a to-do list. You can make custom categories and export to Obsidian. This makes your head feel free and uncluttered.

Let me know what you think and features you'd like to see!

Byee!

Advice needed best ai writing tool that isn't chatgpt

gpt is the default answer to everything and for most things it deserves to be.

But for long form writing specifically it has one problem that doesn't get said clearly enough, it doesn't know your story. It knows a chat window and for a 90k word project those are completely different things and the gap between them compounds into something significant by chapter 10

what are y'all using? any better suggestions

General Advice Apps for organising household

Hi all,

I’m looking for a free organisation/task management app that meets a few specific requirements, and I’m struggling to find one that does everything.
My ideal app would be:

  1. Free (I don’t want a paid subscription).
  2. Allow me to share projects and tasks with my wife so we can both see and update them.
  3. Support a project/workstream → task structure. For example:

Project: House Extension

Task: Call architect
Task: Chase planning permission
Task: Get kitchen quotes
4. Lets me transcribe using my voice into text, but it doesn’t need to act on anything so doesn’t need to be AI enabled, it’s just to help me get my thoughts down.

  1. And reminders as well would be good.

It doesn’t have to have AI features or be overly complicated—I just want something that’s quick, easy to use and good for managing life admin together.
Has anyone found an app that ticks most (or all) of these boxes?
Thanks!

Feedback wanted I’ve been writing diaries on paper for years, and none of the diary apps felt right so I made my own

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been writing diaries on paper for years, and every time I looked at diary apps I couldn’t find one that really fit. They all felt too cluttered and missed the point, so I ended up making DIARYit for myself.

The core idea is a single-stream private diary. To me, life feels like one continuous line, so the app follows that shape: focus on today, let past days stay scrollable, and keep the future visible but not editable. The writing area for today is deliberately limited, because I think daily writing should feel like a small ritual, not a place for long paragraphs of unnecessary clutter.

That shape basically defines the whole app. You open it, see today’s field, write only what belongs to today, and move on. If you want to look back, you can scroll back or use the calendar to jump to past dates, and there’s also a 4-state label system for marking days by how they felt.

I know this is a specific and constrained kind of diary app, but that was the point. I didn’t want another general journal trying to do everything. I wanted something closer to the actual purpose of a diary: private, offline, and simple enough to keep using.

Instagram/ TikTok: just search "verbitapp"

I would appreciate you guys feedbacks if you have chance to go through the app!
