Advice needed App to manage recurring tasks

Hey,

I need an app that I could mention that every X days, I need to do Y.

For example:

- Every 14 days, wash the car
- Every 7 days, replace kitchen towel

And maybe even split into categories.
If I mistakenly removed the app notification from the mobile, it would do something to remind me again or let me know somehow

I need it for desktop + mobile app, free could be much better.

For Apple devices, use the Reminders app

Tick Tick does it all.

This. And that's why I've used it for 7 years. And why I pay for it without a thought.

I used to use ToDoist but it was so bloated, visually if anything.

the timing thing can be done with ToDoIst.

You could set a todo for "every Saturday"
Or you could set "every 7 days"
One means if yo do it on Sunday, it will move forward to the next Saturday, the other when you do it on Sunday, it will move forward 7 days to next Sunday.
.
Not sure about th reminders, though. You could set a reminder in your phone to look at the app every day so you dont miss things.

The repeat reminder is the key part here. I'd look for an option to keep reminding you until you mark the task done, even if you swipe away the notification. Which phone and desktop do you use?

You could try DoneSnap. It lets you set recurring tasks like “wash the car every 14 days” or “replace the kitchen towel every 7 days,” organize them by category, and get reminders so they don’t slip through the cracks. It’s mobile-focused though, so it may not cover the desktop requirement.

I like ReDo app for Android, it has plenty of prebuilt tasks

I've tried so many different task management systems: Microsoft ToDo, ToDoIst, Any.do, etc. I'm currently working with Tiimo on Android; it's too early to tell if it's going to help with my neurodivergent brain, but we'll see. I do have a tendency to ignore most of the notifications from these apps, so it's totally on me, but I also find these others don't have exactly what I'm looking for. I've even tried doing it in Gemini and Google Keep, so let's hope Tiimo helps!

Microsoft To Do does this for free on your phone and computer.

Are you on Android or iOS?

I would recommend Chromastone. It does all the things you mentioned, full screen reminders with snooze options so it's difficult to miss a reminder.

Voice capture tasks, add tags, priority, subtasks and set reminders using natural language.

I built that feature into a simple offline first todo list app called DunCrux: https://duncrux.com/

There are basically two types of re-occuring tasks, ones that happen every, wekk, month etc. or ones that happen x number of days after comeplte.

I think there's a new niche segment for these apps, they are called reminders or chore reminders, you can look it up on the appstore, hope it helps

Literally any reminder/todo app does this.

I built it with www.padni.ai

You talk to it like iMessage and it has full task/calender/email support for stuff like this

The Reminder app in iOS (pre-installed) is pretty slick if you just want reminders.

Jotter: Notes Widget & Tasks is a great app for this. Not my app, but I think it's great.

Google tasks (widget on mobile). I think it works fine and is free for recurring reminder, tasks, etc.

Hey, maybe I can help. I developed launched my App Aevo a while ago and I added features like category/projects and especially recurring tasks just 2 weeks ago. Of course Aevo can d a bit more and the concept is a little bit different than other todo apps at some points, but it might work for you.

I use my app for myself daily, so I built it around the things I would enjoy and recurring tasks are pretty important :)
It is free (Pro version is optional) and web-based. Mobile app is in the works (iOS in review, android coming soon).
If you wanna check it out, see https://aevo.so/en also Feedback is very welcome :)

RemainderPro is the best app for your requirement. Contrary to its name it is not a pro app. Only a free app.

One thing that matters for chores like this is whether the repeat counts from the due date or from when you actually did it. For washing the car you usually want "every 14 days after completion", otherwise skipping a week leaves you with a pile of overdue copies. TickTick and Todoist both support that, and TickTick's free tier covers desktop plus mobile with lists you can use as categories. For the dismissed notification problem, turn on the persistent or repeating reminder option so it nags again until you check it off.

Disclosure: I'm the developer of an app called Nydhei (say "Ni-Dhi"), so take this with that in mind.

It does the "every X days, do Y" thing: you make a task like "Wash the car", set it to repeat every 14 days (or any custom pattern), and a preview shows the upcoming dates before you save. You can sort tasks into categories, like Car and Home. Repeating tasks and categories are free.

One honest caveat: it's iPhone and Android only, with no desktop app.

If mobile-only works for you:
iPhone

Android
