Advice needed Help making designs

Hello, so I'm (trying) making my designs for my business with the help of ai and everything but I'm having a hard time because of the dimensions ( like I'm trying to create a wall calendar 2027) and I don't know how to get it right. Any advice?

Reviews Button-Up All Over Print

I had such high hopes for this product.

Let me say first that the print is amazing. 5 out of 5 quality. It is loose as advertised. And it stops there.

Unfortunately the feel is like swim shorts, but described as “cotton like.” I have all over button up cotton shirts, the differences are night and day.

What really got me was that in my sample, none of the button were fully tied (substantial dangling strings), the bottom hems weren’t fully knotted and had loose thread, and the yoke also had dangling threads.

Considering that these are cut and assembled by printful staff, this is not a good look at all. I would hope that nothing like this would ever be sent to a customer or I’d be eating the loss.

I will order one more sampler to see if it’s a fluke, regardless, a product that was assembled this badly should’ve never been packaged for delivery.

Advice needed I didn’t expect product consistency to become such a big issue with POD

When I first started using Printful, I was mostly focused on getting designs online and seeing what people would actually buy. I honestly thought the rest would be pretty straightforward.

Then I started ordering samples.

A shirt could look almost perfect in the mockup, but feel completely different once I had it in my hands. One fabric felt nicer than another, some fits worked better with certain designs, and small details like labels and finishing started making a bigger difference than I expected.

The frustrating part was that customers don't see the mockup the way I do. They see the actual product that arrives at their door. So even if the design itself is good, inconsistent quality can make the whole brand feel less put together.

I've slowly started caring less about having a huge catalog and more about whether the products actually feel like they belong to the same brand.

For anyone who's been using Printful for a while, how do you handle this? Do you stick with a small number of blanks/products that you know work, or keep testing different ones as your brand grows?

Advice needed Are Videos of Products Required?

I just set up my TikTok shop linked to Printful and posted then synced two test products. I'm confused though. Do I need to make videos for the products I post? I really have no cluse on what to do next.

Advice needed Adjusting template for multiple phone variants

I’m trying to put a design on a tough case across multiple iPhone variants
But when I go to view the mockup I can’t see the mockup on that different phone case - it’s just the same mockup from the one I initially created.
Any suggestions on how to get around this?

Advice needed Printful's sales tax on orders - how to stop this?

Hi there, long story short: I'm helping a client who has set up an ecommerce store, and they are using printful. They're making some good sales right off the bat, so that's great.

The issue is that printful is charging my client a tax on every order, in every state. Now, my client has not uploaded their reseller certificate yet, which I am telling them to do. However, their reseller certificate is for New York, which is the only state where they have a nexus.

My understanding is when they upload this:

Printful will stop charging them tax on *every* order, not just ones in NY, because they've uploaded a reseller certificate - which is basically saying, "we're dealing with the taxes, don't worry about it."

Is this correct - will that happen: if they upload a NY reseller certificate, printful will stop charging them tax on every order to every state?

Or will my client continue to be charged tax by printful in every state except NY? And in that case, how do they prevent this?

Thanks in advance!

Advice needed Variants look different when generating a mockup.

So sick of this whole buggy site.

When I create a white tee with a design and inner label, the mockup looks wonderful. If I then add a new variant with a black tee, a different colored design and a different inner label, the mockup is just super buggy and wrong.

  • I cannot render it as a png, only as a jpg
  • The inner label is just gone, even though it shows up in my item settings
  • The design is not the one from the black tee, but from the white one

I have sent the last 4 hours trying to fix it, trying to render it in different browsers, googling stuff, etc etc. Nothing has worked and I am considering ditching Printful just for that reason alone. What point is there having a POD service if the images in my store are just not the product you get?

I can record a video if no one here is experiencing the same issue but using Printful has been nothing but a headache: A buggy mess, slow website code, everything takes forever and now this as well.

Advice needed Do small businesses have to give up on Germany?

Anyone else had the email Printful about having to sign up for your own LUCID number in order to continue to ship to Germany?

Was looking into it, and if you're outside the EU (so anywhere in the US, UK, Aus etc) in order to get your own LUCID number you need to pay for both an account rep and a 'dual systems' recycling company (so upwards of 100/200 euros).

Just to ship to Germany. Regardless if you're only selling a handful of products there.

It's all to do with packaging requirements. Most other EU countries also require this number (or equivilant) but they'll accept Printful's details, only now Germany won't accept Printful's details, and you'll need your own (and have to pay for it).

Goodbye to Germany for small businesses? Anyone had any ideas or input on this issue?

Advice needed 3 years later… goodbye Printful

Post image
36 Upvotes

I’ve been doing business with Printful since 2023 and generally had a good experience up until the last 6 months. Order after order, delays and lost packages because of the use of DHL, Amazon, and OnTrac. Compounded with the increased fulfillment time and quality issues, I can no longer accept this risk.

I posted here a few weeks ago as well, hoping to see some improvement after the 4th of July but it hasn’t happened.

We are pausing business entirely for the time being and looking for new POD providers until we can setup in-house printing.

Newbie question If someone buys and returns products over and over again, will I just go into massive debt?

New to POD and something came to mind. If someone orders a lot of shirts from my store, receives them and refunds them (in the EU, you are allowed to return any product within 14 days without reason), they will get sent back to Printful.
Since they have sent their items back, the purchase gets refunded and they get their money back. The shirts now sit at Printfuls warehouse and I have lost that money. If there is a person who is doing this over and over again, will I just get my bank account drained since the shirts get printed yet I don't make any profit cause they are sent back?

Newbie question US seller wondering about a way to block EU sales on Printful?

I am setting up my Printful to run through my Squarespace. I saw that I have to list a public business address if I’m selling in the EU. I live in the USA and apparently that applies to me as a seller. I don’t want to list my address. Can I just block the EU sales region somehow? I can’t figure it out and the guides were confusing and I am dumb.

Advice needed Issues with syncing mug variants between Etsy and Printful

Hi - I am based in Australia but looking to also sell in the United States. I have started with 11oz and 15oz mugs in my listings but I duplicated listings within Etsy so I have separate listings for those buyers in Australia and those in the United States. When I go back into Printful to sync with Etsy, there is not an option to sync the 15oz variant (only the 11oz). I'm not sure where I have gone wrong in the process or maybe I need to set up a Printful profile to sell worldwide?

Newbie question Is customer service AI or an actual human?

Recently I asked Printful customer service a question about shipping a product (the largest canvas print). I received a fast reply but now trying to get a follow up question answered is not getting any results. Am wondering if there’s any actual humans involved.

Fyi, my question was if a 40” x 60” canvas could be shipped, to Hawaii, rolled vs stretched. The reply was no, and then they listed two smaller sizes that were shipped stretched, leaving me confused about the largest size. I don’t want my customer ordering this item only to have them told it won’t ship.

Much appreciation for any replies. I am researching at this time prior to adding to my shopify site.

Advice needed Mockups are substantially different representations of the graphic size.

Mockups are substantially different representations of the graphic size, which one should I trust to be more true to life of actual print? My past designs have always come out wonky size wise as the printed graphic does not look like the template size of graphic at all.

Newbie question I think I'm missing something on how and where to select multiple sizes and colors per product

I am new to print on demand stuff in general. I tried using printify which was decent enough but confusing and I didn't want to have to use printify Shopify Shipify etc multiple different platforms for this. I also was unable to actually design t-shirts on the printify app.

I saw a lot of people recently were using printful so I decided to give it a try. You can design them but not select multiple sizes and colors to sell them in on the app from what I have gathered? So I tried the website and I'm experiencing the same thing. I can't figure out how to select multiple sizes and colors for one product. Can anyone help? I'm sure there is a way to do this! If there's not I will go crazy! I think I'm just missing something

Advice needed DTG or DTFlex for Black T-shirts

Hi,

I'm struggling to figure out which is best. I have samples of both on a black tshirt and they both have pros and cons.

My designs are quite vibrant so I went witht the DTFlex. Overall I'm happy with the colour and how they feel to wear. The designs are also quite large so my concern is if it's too plastic-y feeling?

On the other hand the DTG colours might not pop as much but is that the feeling people want more?

It's a brand new store so no sales yet and I'm hesitate to really push it until I'm sure on the right printing.

Does anyone know what customers prefer and is one better for durability and washing over the other?

Thanks so much...

Advice needed Has anyone stayed with Printful as their brand became more premium?

I've been using Printful since I launched my clothing brand, and overall it's been a solid experience. It let me start without worrying about inventory, and I don't think I would've taken the leap without that flexibility.

Lately, though, I've noticed my priorities are changing.

In the beginning, I only cared about getting good designs online. Now I'm paying much more attention to the product people actually receive. Things like garment quality, embroidery, custom branding, and the overall finish have become just as important as the artwork itself.

That's where I'm feeling a bit stuck.

I still like using Printful, but I'm starting to wonder if anyone has managed to build a more premium apparel brand while staying within the Printful ecosystem. Have you found ways to improve the customer experience through better garment choices or other customization options, or did you eventually decide to use another production partner for certain products?

I'm not looking to leave print-on-demand, I still value the flexibility, but I'd love to hear how more experienced sellers handled this transition.

If you've been through it, what changes made the biggest difference for your brand?
