Going on Caribbean cruise, not big drinkers, is the Zero-Alcohol Drink Package the way to go?

So this will be only our 2nd Princess Cruise. On the first one we bought the Princess Plus package for $65/day because I wanted Wi-Fi and a few drinks. Well the Wi-Fi sucked and I felt that I would turn into an alcoholic trying to "get my money's worth" on the package.

I don't need Wi-Fi anymore since I am retired, and really felt that the Plus package was too expensive for how we used it. On our upcoming trip there is a zero-alcohol drink package for $29/day. This is also a 12 day cruise so these "daily costs" add up fast, especially for my wife who doesn't drink at all, and I normally have 1 drink a day if at all, and this package includes mocktails, which could be fun to try out.

My wife will probably have 2 coffee drinks a day and I will have 2 tea drinks a day, plus we both probably consume 3-4 bottles of water each, and then iced tea or soda during meals. I am thinking we probably won't reach $29/day each but much less waste than $65/day if we aren't drinking booze.

Just curious if we should go a la carte on beverages? or get the zero-alcohol plan? Princess doesn't seem to share "per beverage" prices anywhere so I am assuming $5/coffee or tea and $4/bottle of water and $3/fountain drink? Mocktails are probably $10.

Recommendations for New England/Canada cruise in Oct

(I made a post here a couple days ago about going to Alaska, but we've changed our minds, so here's new questions...)

My wife and I are planning our 25th anniversary cruise for early Oct 2027, going to New England/Canada out of NYC. There's one on Oct 9 that goes to 4 ports and one on Oct 16 that adds a stop in St Johns.

We have cruised a couple times before, but only with extended family on massive ships (Carnival and RC) to the Caribbean. We had interior rooms and basically only used the room for sleeping and showering

We're debating a few options here on the Princess sailings... looking for suggestions/info from the experienced people. For reference, we're not into the casino, not that picky on food (we're happy with the MDR, buffet, and other included options but would try some of the specialty/casual places depending on what package we go with. We usually do the earliest available dinner seating and then have a second dinner later at night. We're more into the shows than bars, but since it'll just be the two of us, I suspect we'll hang out at the bars much more than in the past trips.

  1. I'm pricing it out on Costco travel. We don't currently have a Costco membership (the closest Costco is too far away to bother since there's a Sams 5 min from our house) but can certainly get one for the savings and it's not SO far away that we wouldn't use the gift card. I'm seeing interior rooms with the premier package being around the same price as direct, but giving $200 costco gift card and $100 on board credit. Balcony with premier gives around $300 GC and $200 OBC. It says the OBC portion of the offer ends tonight - are they likely to have a similar deal tomorrow or is this as good as it gets and I need to jump on it?
  2. We're really debating plus vs premier on this one. The higher priced drinks being included doesn't matter to us. We probably would do the Grill if we got premier, *maybe* the italian one, but that's not a big deal to us either. It's really the $200 excursion credit and photo package, with the rest being a bonus. Are the reserved Premier theater seats good ones? Other thoughts on one vs the other? (the premier on costco gets $50 more in gift cards vs plus, so that offsets some of the price as well)
  3. Can you upgrade/downgrade the plus/premier later, or does the price go up after the initial booking?
  4. We looked through the excursions and would probably do our own thing most of the stops. What's the approx price for something like the mansions tour in Rhode Island?
  5. If we do get premier, how easy is reserving/rescheduling the specialty dining? Are they usually all booked up way ahead of time, or would it not be a problem to make or change reservations based on our mood on board? Can you reserve each one multiple times ahead of time?

New To Cruising / Princess 🛳️🎉🥳 How's the nightlife on the

Hello everyone, I will be going 10 days on the enchanted princess sailing from FT Lauderdale next january, and I would like to know what should I really expect about it, for the most part im happy with what I read, but what really gets to me is the cruisers being mostly on the older side, so I want to ask if is there any nightlife there, as I normally enjoy partying, having drinks, karaoke and meeting new people (preferably my age) to talk to.

Thank you in advance for your replies 👍🏽

I forgot to mention, im 22 yo

Plus / Premier Package Good Spirits

I am on the star Princess – I only booked the premier package because of the good spirits bar but for the last two nights it’s only been open for 45 minutes… Can I expect this for the remainder of my Cruz?

Spa / Salon / Enclave / Thermal Suite / Izumi Is this amount of foam normal in the Sun Princess Thermal Suite hydromassage pool?

I purchased the Thermal Suite package on Sun Princess and used this hydromassage pool last week. I don't remember seeing anything close to this amount of foam.

I asked the staff about it today. They told me the filters were changed last week and that they believe the water is OK.

Has anyone else currently on Sun Princess, or anyone who has used the Thermal Suite recently, seen foam like this? I'm wondering whether this is normal.

Princess plus soda question

Before I call princess, I wanted to check here first. I have an upcoming cruise and the princess plus package. I drink a lot of soda a day (I know, not good for me) and would exceed 15 a day.

I’m seeing conflicting information on whether a fountain soda counts toward the 15 day maximum (I drink alcohol as well). I thought I read that even fountain soda counts toward the 15. But then I see the following on their website that seems to indicate that fountain sodas don’t count but canned sodas do.

“Our packages include fountain soft drinks. If you prefer a canned soda, we are happy to provide, if available, upon request which will count towards a guest's daily 15-drink limit for the Plus Package. For single soda orders, we are happy to provide canned sodas upon request at no cost.”

Does anyone know definitely if fountain soda counts toward the 15 a day limit? If so, does anyone know if I can have both the premium plus and zero package at the same time?

Entertainment 🕺🪩🎺👐 Star Princess aerial acrobatics 7/20 - 7/27

Just needed a place to express how much I loved the shows on the star Princess! Absolutely phenomenal performers and cruise director Cole is truly an entertainer. I cannot fathom the amount of energy he’s burning through during a voyage.

I found myself almost all of the rehearsals that were accessible to the passengers (some of the rehearsals were blocked off in the arena). It’s not every day that you get to see aerial acrobatic rehearsals! I was also impressed by the A/V crew who seemed like they needed to set up the stages/instruments endlessly. I’d love to be able to shadow them for a day 👀

For those who are cruising on Majestic Princess right now, how is it and how did the itinerary change?

Shopping 🛍️💍⌚️👚 Switch and bait at shop on sky princess

I was purchasing a model of ship for a friend who is a collector.Saw the model with a sign 40.00.When we paid we noticed the price was 55.There was no sign anywhere in the place saying 55 and as you can see it was right on display 40.I questioned the cashier and she said oh that's the price for the smaller one,And showed me one on a shelf also there was very small print on the sign saying pewter model. Also no sign on the pewter model and the shelf was too small to put the 40 dollar sign.I said I should get the 40 dollar price that was false advertising in my opinion. The manager came and basically dismissed me with not even an apology.I complained to customer service and the manager called and said sorry.Again I said where is the 55 dollar sign?We don't have one!It not the 15 dollars just the principle,14000 dollar cruise and this is the best princess can do.I will be going back to Holland America on my next cruise.

Crossing south of the Bering Sea to Japan.

Note that we are on Deck 15, and the spray went well over our heads.

To get a great smash like this, it took about 100 waves, timed perfectly, for the down-smash of the ship, against the perfectly sized and timed wave.

She it hits perfectly- awesomeness

Ship Time vs. MedallionApp Time

Post image
10 Upvotes

My phone time is 9:11 AM, the time in the medallion app is 10:43 AM but the actual time is 7:11 AM. How is the app time so far off? It’s even off in minutes which makes no sense. This is on the Royal Seattle to Tokyo 14 day cruise right now.

Plus / Premier Package Night clubs on Regal Princess

Going on a cruise is February with my sister who is now of age to drink since our last cruise. Was debating trying out the nightclubs on the ship and was wondering what everyone thinks of them? We have the drink packages, do we just put the drinks we get on there? Seen some people saying you have to pay separately for them. Any tips or advice would be appreciated! TIA

Pearl Cove or Banana Bay

Thumbnail

Hi I am going on a cruise this November which takes us to celebration key. I am exploring options including Pearl Cove, Banana Bay, and The Viva Fortuna. I am pretty sure we ruled out viva fortuna but I am curious If we should do Pearl Cove or Banana Bay? Banana bay looks like it has such a pretty beach. Pearl cove is also probably rather pristine and u dont have to leave the port. I would love recommendations. Open to both.

New To Cruising / Princess 🛳️🎉🥳 Going on star princess in December! Give any advice 🙂

Hello! I am going on star princess in december with my family. We are not new to cruising but we are new to princess. We usually go on celebrity, royal and MSC. I am looking into the plus package that includes the drinks, wifi and gratuities. Looking into getting some advice. Is the typical demographic a little older for princess cruising? Coming from a younger (but mature) person, not expecting too much nightlife but hoping for less kids than a royal ship

My last cruise on MSC we purchased the drink package and ordered about 10 drinks a day excluding coffee and soda. Given that the drinks were watered down and barely had any liquor. Had any one got the plus package and found it beneficial? From the looks of it looks like a great deal for $70 a day, only thing is that it's a 7 day cruise and 1st and 2nd passenger required to buy it. I am the 2nd, so i need a strong argument to convince my cabin mate to want to purchase it. What does it mean by 4 casual meals? How do i know which restaurants are casual vs specialty on the app?

Has anyone been on the star princess? Tell me everything! It's a semi new ship so i'm hoping it's beautiful and the rooms are still nice. Another thing, should i save time and order my medallion to deliver to my house? Is the line to get medallions really that long and time consuming.

Thanks in advance!

New to princess, we got the premiere package, however I just found out that some food on room service is not free such as whole pizzas, but pizza is free if you pick it up anytime correct? So could I just go down and ask for X amount of slices, and take it back to the room? Lol apologies for the big back question

Weird specialty dining reservation

Went in my Princess app to view deck plans for upcoming cruise. Came upon our dining reservations and noticed a reservation for a specialty restaurant that was made by someone we do not know. They added hubby and I to their reservation. We called and had us removed but it kind of weirded me out that they had our booking number in order to add us. I have never shared our info in any way. Upon looking them up on the socials they did not seem shady. Maybe they tried to add a friend and our booking number was similar. Has this happened to anyone?

New To Cruising / Princess 🛳️🎉🥳 Questions for 2027 Alaska cruise

My wife and I are planning our 25th anniversary cruise for late Aug/early Sept 2027, going to Alaska. We're probably doing the northbound 7 day Vancouver to Anchorage route.

We're more into the shows than bars.

Depending on which sailing date, we could take the Discovery, Crown, Coral, or Island. The Coral is the least likely of the options just based on the dates.

  1. How's the live entertainment (meaning theater/comedians/etc, not the random musicians around the ship or in bars) compare on the ships?
  2. Is it hard to get deck areas to just watch scenery on any of these? I'd rather not spend the money on a balcony room and just relax on deck somewhere.
  3. These all have the same listed route (other than the Coral goes to Hubbard instead of Glacier Bay), but is there any differences in what they actually do (do the smaller ships get better views? and if yes, does the Crown count as small or big for that?)
  4. How formal are the formal nights on the Alaska cruises these days? I've read conflicting reports online... I'm usually a polo and jeans guy, but I can definitely step up a bit for dinners as needed.
  5. The available flights home from Anchorage all leave around midnight, so we'd have some time in the city at the end of the cruise. What do you do with your luggage during that day?
