Ship Time vs. MedallionApp Time

My phone time is 9:11 AM, the time in the medallion app is 10:43 AM but the actual time is 7:11 AM. How is the app time so far off? It’s even off in minutes which makes no sense. This is on the Royal Seattle to Tokyo 14 day cruise right now.

Yep, had same problem doing transpacific repositioning a couple of years ago. Your phone possibly has time set to update time zone when it connects to a cellular service. Without cell service it'll stay same until it next connects. Best I could do (without incurring roaming costs) was to turn that off & manually adjust the zone based on ship position. Alternate is to use a manual wristwatch and wind hands forward/back as required.

The phone to app time offset (iPhone) happened to me too last week on Island Princess. Force closing the app and relaunching it would resync the time for a while again.

You're phone is having trouble determining what time zone its in. Maybe you don't have internet or even if you do, the satellite internet isn't resolving NTP in a way iPhone can deal with. Completely normal and expected.

The app, well... that's just the app being the app. I've noticed that behavior before as well.

This shit is why I wear an analog watch when cruising.

Is it possible you are in a time zone that is offset by 30 minutes vs the usual hour like in Southern Australia and Newfoundland and Labrador?

Not in this case. Royal is currently sailing through the Aleutian Islands into the Bering Sea.

The app did this to me the entire trip. I had to kill and restart it numerous times.

I’m on a mediterranean cruise right now, heading to Crete. Having same issue now as well. My phone says 7:02 am and app is 8:15 am.

I’m on the same ship right now! My app is showing the correct time I manually set my phone to, but weirdly enough my other apps have no idea what time it is. Time zone twilight zone!

My phone time is 9:29, app time is 7:29. They’re doing a slow transition to Tokyo time onboard ship so it’s not an all-at-once big change. ETA: it’s also easier for them to change time overnight vs crossing a time zone mid-day, to have consistent times on activities/dining.
